From what I understood, before Maguire joined us, VdV initially did punditry for the Nation League game between Netherland vs England (3-1), and picked out Maguire as the worst player on the pitch. Which is reasonable as we can testify that it's not rare for Maguire to have these games where he definitely looked the worst players on the pitch. Why does Van der Vaart hate Maguire so much?
I've seen a clip before of him calling him shit.
Damn. It's just bitterness, then. It's fair to question the transfer fee, but the way he speaks about him is pretty unprofessional. Sky Sports refusal to invite him back isn't Maguire's fault. From what I understood, before Maguire joined us, VdV initially did punditry for the Nation League game between Netherland vs England (3-1), and picked out Maguire as the worst player on the pitch. Then the transfer happened. VdV as pundit guest to Sky reasonably questioned why this club paid such world record fee for Maguire (we all had the same question). Sky never invited VdV again. VdV felt offended and became life long Maguire critic
Di Maria? I don't know. The club bought a player being pushed out that did not want to come here. He gave up on the team.A worse signing than Di Maria, Falcao and Schneiderlin put together.
There is a certain element of initial bitterness. However, I feel criticizing Maguire become a gag gig for VdV nowadays. VdV is playing "his character" now than hatred toward Maguire. The unfortunate between Sky-VdV event made Maguire a regular victim of this running gag.Damn. It's just bitterness, then. A player who was easy to get rid of and who wasnt made club captain.Di Maria? I don't know. The club bought a player being pushed out that did not want to come here. He gave up on the team.
At least we recouped a big sum of money out of him.A player who was easy to get rid of and who wasnt made club captain.
Varane is a better player, but so far hasn't shown it, be it.due to injuries or again poor form.I was more referring to your argument that Maguire is our best by saying Varane's injury prone. We have a WC winning, multi-Cl winning player who has made more interceptions per match than any of our CBs this season, is solid in aerial duels and far superior on the ball.
Is that more of a retort for your liking, compared to your observation of "he's injury prone"?
Probably because what your saying hasn't actually happenedHow can a full season of shit performances be a knee jerk reaction?
Thats a poor analysis in that tweet. We got hit from counter attack hence the space was created. Scott was closest to the attacker and Maguire vacates his space to get close to the attacker which wasn’t needed. Even if Scott was beaten, there were 5 players in decent position that could have stopped the attack. Most of the blame is on Maguire and some on Shaw for sleeping on his ass for the offside trap.Maguire is performing below the level he set in previous seasons, but I think on numerous occasions he has also been let down by poor organisation and errors made by his teammates. It leads to goals where he gets the blame, but really when it's broken down there's so much that has gone wrong elsewhere that he gets an overinflated portion of such blame. He's not having a good season, but he's played well enough before that I'd much rather we persist with him and get him back to his best.
This is something that happened in the Liverpool thrashing especially. It also happened tonight for Burnley's goal. They win the ball deep in their half and if you actually look at the clip you see United has no midfielder within 30 yards of the centre circle. Normally you'd expect someone to be there to screen the defence and cut off potential passes. But there's nobody there.
Weghorst can drop deeper which causes Maguire to follow. McTominay is only now getting back into position and charges at the ball, misses and collides into Maguire. Now Maguire had also been turned by Weghorst so he has made his own error here. But there was still a chance he can make a recovery. McTominay should have either slotted into the position vacated by Maguire, or he should have been in position to screen the defence and not been 30 yards away from his zone. There's plenty of blame to go around and Maguire deserves some of it. It's just that everything is being heaped on him when really there's plenty to go around.

He set up Juan for the scissor against Liverpool.Di Maria? I don't know. The club bought a player being pushed out that did not want to come here. He gave up on the team.
Yes but he didn’t really want to be here and play under a rigid manager like LVG. The burglary didn’t do us any favours either. That and the Falcao deal just showed how little research we did. We were more into Galactico signings. He set up Juan for the scissor against Liverpool.
Exactly he was at one point our best CB and in good form, after the Euros it's been a linear downward trend that shows no sign of halting.I was hoping he'd recover some sort of form, but he plays like a haunted empty shell of a footballer now. The idea he was always this bad is nonsense, but he is just scarily bad these days.
Maguire definitely wasn't the worst defender on the pitch that day. Ross Barkley and John Stones both made errors that led directly to a goal and Kyle Walker scored an OG (although trying to rescue Stone's mistake) De Ligt also made two major errors that led to England's goal (although he did scored a great header later, beating Stones & Walker by the way). If Lingard's toe wasn't offside late on England probably would've won the game and people would've been slating De Ligt and VVD for costing Holland the game. From what I understood, before Maguire joined us, VdV initially did punditry for the Nation League game between Netherland vs England (3-1), and picked out Maguire as the worst player on the pitch. What poor form? Bar a couple of dodgy touches when he came back from injury, Varane has been decent.Varane is a better player, but so far hasn't shown it, be it.due to injuries or again poor form.
It depends on what is considered a big loss. His value on the books will be half the original price tag. About 40 M, so anything under that is a loss and anything above is a theoretical profit.Do you think that the board would sanction it?
Cause "muh british core need british cap'n" bollox that Ole stand firm on. He showed nothing in Leicester to be considered as a captain. He wasnt even vice captain there.Solskjær did a lot of things wrong, but making Maguire captain was his worst decision by a country mile.
Dress him up as a cat and send him over to Zouma’s
