Yeah I thought so too. Hamilton was like a second slower than Verstappen and that doesn't bode well. But I do hope that this is something they can fix within a couple of races and which would provide good advantage for Hamilton in the long run. But it's absolutely devastating for Hamilton to turn up after last season with a noncompetitive car.
Very well said.

That's what makes me think their problems are legitimate. Hamiltons head is constantly butting against the headrest and I don't see why they'd allow that even if it was them holding back.
It cannot be good to race for nearly 2 hours with that bouncing on the human body as well as shaking the car to bits.

feck knows what's going on here, the Merc is bouncing a but it's not as bad as yesterday.

That Hamilton time only matches the Mercedes FP2 time. Verstappen was 1.2 seconds quicker than this in FP2 - still has a lot more pace in the bank. Merc did look better though - still a handful.
Different tracks temps though, FP2 is an evening session and quicker.

I think that’s quite telling that Hamilton’s feedback was corner specific, they wouldn’t bother if he was miles off.

Don't think we are going to know until Q3, no one want to show their hand but the Mercedes looks like a different car from yesterday.

Merc have gone earlier on these runs so I think they are still a bit behind but clearly they ain’t miles off.

He will not manage a race with the car bouncing the way it does, it will either fall apart or Lewis will, a body is meant to take that.
Just watching FP 3 and the Mercedes looks a lot better which is good news.

Russell looks more comfortable with the car.
I would not be at all surprised to see Russell really challenging this year. He is going to shake things up I am sure.

He will win points and races , but Merc will want that 8th for Lewis and will do what they can to get it.
Red Bull and Ferrari and the one to beat, Mercedes looks to have solved some part of their problem, so could be more than a 2 horse race this season.

Anyone know why the shrouds over the wheels have been introduced?
They in theory help with other stuff to make the wake off the back of the car less turbulant for the following car. Therefore car behind can follow more closely. Just one bit in the cog to reduce wake.

I'd like to see Haas doing well, I enjoy Gunther on drive to survive.

I've done my predictions already

Looks like Williams are Dreadful

Just want to see multiple teams competing and it to be exciting

I love how everyone got excited for five minutes till red bull and Ferrari strolled through at the end

What if Russell outperforms Hamilton this season?

The timing is always so weird with the FIA, first they change Masi during the Ferarri presentation and now releasing the report in middle of practice.

Point 31 is such a joke. Literally Trump level of delusion thinking "any" could mean anything other than every. If it isn't every car then it can't possibly be any.

Fecking joke of a organisation. Make Fifa and Uefa look sophisticated and honest.

Terrible timing.

Bullshit report. How can they assume "good faith"? Presumably because anything other than that would damage their multi billion dollar brand.

Also point 35. to Mercedes: the result cannot be changed because you didn’t keep appealing.

Can we not do the why are we talking about this again comments. The FIA have released a report based on it, it warrants being talked about.
