As you say he's been in both ends of the scale, just like he's been with Portugal. It's the "another player that we can't get a tune out of that steps up at international level"-take that I can't take. Over all I think he's been our most important player together with DDG this season. Works his socks off for the shirt every time he's on the pitch.
I'm not having a pop at Fernandes. I like Fernandes (for the most part) but you have to admit, when he is bad, he's really really bad....and there have been plenty of bad games this year.

I am just seeing this trend with Shaw, Maguire, Lindelof, Varane, Pogba and Fernandes were they just seem far more comfortable at International level. I think its because our team is completely dysfunctional, im not blaming the individuals

He has unequivocally been worse for Portugal than he has for United. Just listen to the Portuguese guy:
Bruno can absolutely do a lot of wrong.

For example besides today he’s been in my view pretty shit for Portugal nearly every time.

Great news. Should be made captain too for next season. Firstly because he gives his all every week unlike half of them and secondly he will get away with some of his moaning at refs if he's captain.

Some good news. Build around Bruno and other players who actually care. It’s a good start
Yeah losing ball at the edge of own box and then playacting and whining instead of doing something about it he has strange way showing that he cares .

I just hope next manager can help him refine his game and make him more team oriented though I have my doubts, otherwise United will have another big expensive problem on their hands.

I really don't understand this one. He's under contract until 2026 already. We have a new manager coming in who might not want him in his first 11 and the higher wage will just make it harder to sell him of we need to. Ten Hag could for example favour more of a team cog like Donny in his position or want to bring someone in. Bruno tends to do what he wants on the pitch rather than staying disciplined in position, for the sake of shape and the team. I hope not but this could look like another really stupid contract extension in 12 months time.

Bruno is our best player by far and will be the first name on the team sheet for any new manager we bring in

You don't know that. If the new manager is Ten Hag, I'm hoping it will be a new direction of the team over individual players. I hope Bruno is a part of that. He has a great football brain and I think he can adapt, if inspired and he wants to, but the logical one for Ten Hag to build around is Sancho in the current squad. He's the most suited to Ten Hag's style of play and I'm expecting a very different first eleven next year and very different squad by 2024.

He'll seriously need to adapt and change his game, otherwise, this will turn out to be another big mistake.

Or else we need to adapt the team around him as SAF often did with his mercurial talents. He's a game changer and will be the difference in many matches but we'll need to set up the team in a way to allow him play to his strengths.

Good news. He is far from being perfect but if a player like him is a problem which a competent coaching team cannot solve then we can as well give up on every player and close the club.

He is the least of our problems. He is one of the few are actually good in our team and somebody who actually fecking cares about how the team plays. Don't understand this skepticism around him, he has been here for quite some time now and he has contributed so much. One of my favourite players in this current team.

Great news! Regarding wether Bruno only fits a Solskjærian free role and will hinder the team in a more collectively disciplined playing style:

I think it’s telling that Rangnik, who sets collective structure over individual licence to such a degree, has still ended up with Bruno as a go-to player, even when he could choose from Pogba, Sancho, Mata, Van de Beek, Fred and McTominay for the roles he has been used for (10 in 4-2-3-1 or 4-2-2-2, or 8 in 4-3-3). My point is not that these are world beaters, rather that they provide a big range of profiles to suit different purposes regarding tactics and disciplin - if Bruno didn’t adapt quite well to Rangnik’s collective structures, he would have played less.

I like Bruno and think he's been our best player since arriving (damning with faint praise...), but he had a lot of time left on his contract, he's been dodgy for a while now, and there's no guarantee that he'd fit the blueprint for how a new coach wants to play. I just don't understand the rush to renew his contract, a renewal that in essence only added one year onto the one he has in place now.

How are people finding negatives?

Hes 27 and one of the best midfielders in the World. If we’re going to become title challengers again in the near future Bruno Fernandes will be central to that.

One of the best players in the world game right now and yet still people moan about tying him up to a new contract....feck me.

Think about it, what replacement could we get in, taking into consideration we are not getting Champions league football next season that's better than Bruno?

He is one of the best in the business right now.

Great news. More years of zero success. Just like his Stats brought Sporting.

Then we'll win nothing. Bruno isn't good enough to warrant that.

Eyy? Bruno won the league cup and Portuguese cup whilst he was at Sporting. More than we were winning prior to him in our squad.

Some cnuts on here seem to genuinely despise almost every aspect of the club and derive little pleasure from supporting it.

There's a few who would probably only be happy if the club put out a statement tomorrow that they're selling the entire squad, sacking every member of staff, blowing up old trafford and starting from scratch.

He was on less wages than Lingard and Jones if I remember correctly. This contract is more of an update to reflect his position amongst the first team.

Even with the numbers purproted he is less than DDG, Pogba and Sancho so I don't understand the uproar from some posters on here.

Bruno is very vital to any team that uses central playmaker.
No way have them passes come from the center of the midfield. I smell positional BS. So who's number 1 for up top of they just ignore that?

So, basically nothing will change in this club. Extending and rewarding contracts to players already commited and on long term contracts, keeping them in their 30s, giving ridiculous wages, etc.

And what's funny is that I like Bruno.

I can't think of a formation that can't accommodate Bruno and Sancho, our 2 best front 6 players by an absolutely massive distance, except a defensive 4-4-2, and Ten Han won't play that.

It is indeed a strange way. But enough about Pogba, this is the Bruno thread.

For the last 10 years we are a "big" club by name with a small club mentality. In those years Bruno has been the only player who has delivered.
You’ll have to explain what that means? Having a guess at what you think it means didn’t Zlatan, Pogba and Lukaku deliver?

Add Rashford too and DDG.
