Subbed, poor performance again. First half he played just behind the striker and looked even worse than usual.

Most attackers can't do both though and they are asked to do so. Generally attackers that are expected to have high defensive workrate aren't expected to also have impressive outputs. I don't want him back and I have been disappointed by his lack of improvements in certain areas but people are going a bit too far and are being a bit nasty while also being unrealistic.
I don't think I'm being unrealistic, nor have any managers that have worked with him, to ask for him to run more.

I’m sure he’s starting to realise I’m not as good as I think I am
I was for a while wondering how he would do in a role behind a striker, a bit further back where he can recieve and carry the ball but he wasn't better there either.

The article is about the idea that the increase in defensive responsibilities could be the reason behind his lack of creativity, since he came back from injury. I don't know if he actually increased his defensive workrate but that's what the article suggests.

And it's generally unrealistic to expect from a player to increase his defensive contribution while also maintaining the same influence offensively.

We really need to buy a striker for next season. There is no way we can rely on Martial even as an option from the bench.

He looks to me like your average husband who is having a mid-life crisis but its a crisis in his football career. The analogy:

Annoying wife and a long term mortgage: His spell at United right before the loan, he wants to leave the situation

Buying a big screen TV: A loan to Sevilla after telling Ralf he wants to leave, a temporary escape

Knowing the TV wont solve the actual problems and theres not much time to watch it anyway : Losing interest in Sevilla and football in general

Remember when Rashford, Martial and Greenwood were the future? Now it looks like they’ll all be gone within the next couple of seasons.

It could barely have worked out worse. Hopefully with a proper pre season at least one of him and Rashford might come useful next season.

He's still 26 and already in a phase when going to Turkey would be about the right move for him. Hate those gutless footballers. Talent is nothing any half decent talent with workrate will overperform those wannabes.

Dinner lady, an adulterer, an alleged woman beater and rapist.

Gotta love our Scouting network. Its a pity they don't scout and test for mental strength and stability at a young age.

Have you been to spec savers lately?

The majority of the squad is weak minded bantha fodder at this point.
True but at some point they have to take responsibility for themselves. He's playing for a different club right now, same problem. He wasn't mentally strong or a hard worker when he joined.

As I said in a previous post, the club need to start working with a psychologist before signing players.

Whether it's young players, or players established already, how they handle pressure mentally is a big issue, it seems a lot of our players can't handle.

I'm sure that's right for some, but not for the majority. I think they are lazy and that's an easy excuse.

Genuinely can’t see where else he would go

They were both signed when they were like 6. Blaming our scouts for not being able to see 14 years into the future and predict Mason would turn into an abuser or Rashford would become distracted by community work is a bold take.

Martial should consider a loan move to France against lesser competition to get his confidence back up. Mentally he seems checked out and all the speculation regarding his negative attitude seems be verified with this Sevilla loan.
If Messi is struggling in Ligue 1, what makes you think Martial would do any better?

Done nothing of note there really, they improved when Rafa Mir came in and he scored a couple tonight.

Hard to see who's going to sign him for even 20m + so think you'll have to season long loan him in August.

Typical United player then.

It's amazing how we have destroyed some many potentially good players.
When you get a chance of games at a new club and can't take it, it is hard to blame your former club. It's now just you.

That's why this loan is not just bad for him but for us too. If he played like we all know he can he'd either give Uniteds fans some confidence or possible suitors.

Strange how he seems to disinterested nowadays. I remember when he arrived under LVG he was so full of intent, taking on PL defenders and beating them for fun, and knowing when to pass as well. Now, he almost seems immobile in comparison to that player. Rashford going through something similar. It's almost as though giving potentially great players definitely great players is a sign of a poor culture at United.

not long ago people were thinking we'd get like £30/40m for him
Not long ago people wouldn't have accepted 150 million for him and Rashford. The whole Martial Rashford Greewnood thing with Sancho to come was the one glimmer (aside from our two trophies) of hope to get excited about over these past 9 years and boy did that fall apart

Finding a club stupid enough to pay even a portion of his wages will be the biggest challenge of the summer.

Hmm blaming scouts for how players choose to conduct themselves?
