It's a shame Ajax had a meltdown vs Spurs. I was happy for Poch but wanted Ajax to win the thing. I think they would've had a more competitive final.
People keep saying this. We're not going to stop competing until Klopp goes imo. Whether we win either of the big boys again is hard to say. Might be difficult with City around and the nature of the CL. He has already started bringing in younger players to refresh things. Van Dijk will be the hardest player to replace but that's 2-3 years away from being an issue.
You have to remember that we've had big disappointments under Klopp and bounced back before. He's learned from his time at Dortmund.
After Klopp goes it's guess work depending on numerous factors. We might drop off at that point and have to start again but that's too hard to figure out right now.

It's crazy that people forget that side although that season wasn't as standout as the previous two in terms of quality football. The defence carried us a lot that season.
Jose's first Chelsea side came very close to it too, won the league cup and fa cup in 2007, just pipped to the league by us and got to the semi final of the CL. I think that team was undoubtedly better than this Liverpool one and there's no bias or rivalry in that claim because that Chelsea was a horror to compete against.

He has dramatically lifted the standards at the club if we’re disappointed at a domestic cup double. I remember looking at top four as a distant dream in the period after Benitez was sacked. Our seasons from 06/07 to 14/15 are largely mediocre, now we’re getting mocked for “only” winning the two domestic cups. Klopp deserves a lot of credit for that even if we’ve come up short for the ones we really wanted.
To be considered a truly magnificent side you need to consistently put big trophies in the cabinet which is something we haven’t done.
Thankfully we have won some things. Great manager but it might be time for him to evolve the side a little bit to be honest.

He does evolve how we play every season. We’re different now to what we were in 19/20 for example.
He does need to learn how to get over the line in finals though. Two of the three he’s won with us were close games on penalties and the other was a terrible performance against Spurs.
Starting Diaz was a blunder and that whole attacking configuration was completely wrong from the off. Got carried away by the flavour of the month and some performances vs Villarreal etc but in such games experience and chemistry matters much more than individual skill. Firmino came on and opened up the game improving the quality of attacks and chances they were creating. Either him or Jota who is more of a predator would have given them more of a threat also with Mane in a wide position from where he could have created more. For like the first hour or so they had zero threat down the left.

It’s not that though, is it? It’s the way the media, ex Liverpool players, your fans and even players went about it. TAA tweeted 1/4 after the carling cup win, Salah tweeting “we have a score to settle”, Owen saying Liverpool to win easily right before the game etc. If you went about your business quietly no one will be “mocking” you.
Nah Diaz has been in form and Mane’s been performing as a number 9 recently. Jota’s all round play has been poor and Firmino’s not played much. Diaz was handled well by Carvajal.
We have an issue on our right in that we only have Salah who can play there. There’s no option to rotate or move Salah from that position really. Salah’s form in front of goal recently has been poor.
We just weren’t clinical. Madrid were when it mattered.
