I think our initial performances will be disjointed peppered with some good play. We'll grind out and fluke results with a few draws and defeats. I hope we can see more cohesive performances after the world cup so long as we don't have an injury crisis
Disjointed? Our performances have ben disjointed for years!

I'm expecting us to look much less disjointed against Liverpool tomorrow with signs of a proper plan.

Its been 1 week of training for many of them, 2 for some. I wouldn't expect much tomorrow!

This looks night and day from what we’ve seen over the last few years. I swear to god if we hear any complaining from the players this year they need firing into the sun.

I've listened to the press conference, it was quite good.

What was quite not good is Samuel's voice. Why in the feck does he try to sound interesting when he speaks like he's reciting a poem or some sort? What a fecking bell end.

Van Gaal was all about the football and was a proper coach (the only other one post Sir Alex), but he was very rigid in his ways, and his style wasn't really accepted by the fans. Way too safe, cautious. We were coached very well though, Rooney would even say he learned tons from him. I just don't think Van Gaal is really made for club football at this point.
I agree that he was a proper coach in the truest sense, but I always got the impression he was at the stage of his career where he was set in his ways and wasn't going to budge on anything. He was happy for us to retain the ball, even if it meant rarely going forward, just to prove the team was doing exactly what he said. I think Van Gaal 10-20 years earlier would have been so interesting, but we ultimately got him at the wrong time.

Really impressed to see his hands-on approach and intensity in training. Seems like a man on a mission to fix our mess. Can’t wait to see us in a game.

They all look completely wrecked
Oh feck. Inject this in my veins.

We actually have a proper manager this time. One who actually trains his players and I'm sure tactically we will be much improved.

Its also 32 degrees in Bangkok so there is absolutely NO mercy from ETH.

fecking holidays over lads.

Better get on it or you're heading out the door with the other clowns - pogba and lingard.

I agree. Van Gaal was/is absolutely a great football coach. I do however feel like the CL final loss against Mourinho left him some kind of trauma that changed him too much as a manager. Obviously that was a final between two different styles. Van Gaal stuck with his principles and possession based philosophy, but became very cautious and frightened for the counterattack.

Afterwards his teams haven't been adventurous anymore. He's too scared to lose the ball in a bad place and therefore instructs his team to keep the ball and wait very patiently, reducing risk to the minimum. This led to the boring football at United. It's a shame he let go too much of his early years more free attacking philosophy. Nevertheless still a great coach, tacticly sound and one knows how to make his players better.

These feckers have had it way too easy for way too long. Hopefully ETH cracks down hard and there are no places to hide anymore. And the club should support him in this so he doesn't get thrown under the bus like his predecessors. If you can't take it and don't want it - there is the door.

I'm calling him Humpty Dumpty from now on, "Maguire is my captain & he has been very successful" he says, "good squad" he says, I'm now waiting for Humpty Dumpty to have his very big fall when he sees Maguire play awful & his good squad put in one awful performance after another.

You’d be wrong. Maguire is one of the best CBS in the league on paper regardless of how last season panned out. His career to date suggests that much. Shaw was the best left back in the league just 12 months ago. Fred is an international starter for Brazil and another very good player in the right system. McTominay is the only player that is truly crap. The squad is far stronger than you make out.
VVD, Dias, Silva, Konate, Matip, Stones, Laporte, Romero, White. I just named 9 off the top of my head that I would take over Maguire not even counting those from our own squad. He’s bang average as a CB and even then way more suited for a team looking to sit deep and defend their own box than one that wants to be progressive

I get it, because he's bald. Fecking genius. How long did it take you to come up with such a knee slapper?

It's almost as if ol' Humpty is trying to keep morale up and not shit all over the squad he's just inherited. But at least if he does play Maguire we've got your witicisms to look forward to.

Will see how it goes of course but for the first time in years it genuinely feels like we have someone in charge who is a progressive coach who clearly knows what he is doing. No more of that "go out there and express yourselves lads" or park the bus nonsense looks like.

Recency bias is a wonderful thing. Had to read that a couple times… White

He's even got Fred spitting down himself
Good!

Players need to work hard for their money!

On another note, ETH is so damn intense and quite strict. I love it! Players in need of discipline.

We looked fabulous from the off in LvG's first pre-season. I know it wasn't sustained when the proper fixtures began, but at the time it was an absolute revelation.
