Second half wasn't very good but with all the changes etc. that can always potentially happen.

Pity. Main thing is avoiding injuries in a match like this. I thought we weren't that good in that first half, Villa just didn't show up. Good to have this performance now rather than later.

You need cnuts like Buendia and McGinn in your team sometimes. Most of our lads apart from Bruno, Hannibal and Bailly are far too passive. Thank god we've signed Martinez.

6 shots all game and 5 of them came in first halve  Pitch obviously didn’t help but it’s safe to say none of that 2nd halve team will be starting in the prem 1st game.

Desparate last minute situations like this need height and physicality to mitigate.

In fairness, there are a few players who finished that game who should be nowhere close to united's first team, and probably only AWB will be, as a back up, by the start of the season.

De Gea and Lindelof the cowards of Manchester. You can't fake bravery, same players they've always been.
Pretty sure de Gea was fairly instrumental in helping us finish in a EL spot last season?

Chill out.

I think Iqbal might be, he did well even despite those around him not getting up to much.

I thought there was no way they'd score from that corner.

Mind you im never certain about corners when we're defending. But i thought things had changed and stopped shitting myself for this corner and ddg flapped about whilst they scored.

Disappointing but must needed result

- Sell Chong and AWB to the first bidder. Not worth our time.
- We need to move DDG on eventually.
- Need holding Midfielder badly.

Iqbal and Malacia only stand outs from the second half. Varane's form is worrying.

Positives: Excellent first half, No Injuries, Martial, Sancho, Rashford all looked good.

Negatives: Varane, De Gea, DVB, Lots of these kids aren't ready.

Glad Villa came back into it in the second half. Good for ETH to see us under a bit of pressure in a game and have some faults exposed. Better it happens in pre-season than the real thing.

Not the way I would have wanted the game to end, as comfortable as the 1st half was, the team struggled in the 2nd half, Baily was pretty great for them. Pitch was terrible which probs played a part but the manager won’t be happy with what he has seen today.

We’ve got a week of training now and hopefully Eriksen and Martinez will join the team.

Don't know why you keep taking Chong along, when it's abundantly clear he's never going to be good enough for first flight football anywhere. Waste of space and time.
Lack of numbers in attacking areas really. We've got 3 main attackers and then Elanga. After that you're into young prospects in Amad, Pellistri and Chong, all of whom still seem a long, long way from first team football.

Game of two halves. Dominated first half, awful second, which is what we saw at times last season.

We've been pretty much dominant throughout the games in most of our games on pre season. The subs and weather didn't help but ten Hag will want us to dominate games more consistently. I think for this reason, it's imperative we bring in a player like De Jong, who is amongst the best at controlling games.
