Would be hilarious tbh. Imagine Leandowski and Raphinha basically playing no football in a World Cup year
I think this is where the sell 50 percent of their BLM rights as a last resort which really fecks up their medium to long term future.

no-one in particular
I came for Franklin but stayed for Hoof The Ball.

Imagine all the bribes on FdJs account from clubs all over Europe to convince him to stay put! :D

BLM? I can't read that as anything but Black Lives Matter these days, it's been drummed into me. :D What does BLM stand for in Barcelona terms?

The stripping down of the thread title is quite an emotional event.

It’s like the emptying of an apartment and having a quick last look around before handing the keys over.

So basically this needs to be resolved by 14th August otherwise those two won’t be able to play in the first match of season

hang in their frenkie, keep the deckers sweating until they agree to pay it all!!

I'm doing exactly that this afternoon and it is indeed a similar feeling. I should sneak in an FDJ poster somewhere for the new owner.

Right before having one last wank in the airing cupboard.

Chelsea aren’t winning the league. Chelsea currently look like an absolute disaster zone with the manager openly attacking his own players. It’s the harsh reality.
And at which point did I say Chelsea are winning the league? The state of reading comprehension in this country. Even included a “dummy disclaimer” specifically highlighting that’s not what I was saying. ‘kin hell.

I hope we walked away weeks ago.

Tell Barca to feck off, and when they come running back at the end of the transfer window, tell them to feck off again.

The club needs to retain some dignity and selling clubs in future need to know we won't just cave in to demands; specifically in this case where Barca is in the shit - yet somehow - thinks they hold the cards.
Agreed, People here keep saying we didn't brief that we're no longer interested like we usually do. If it's true that we were chasing a player all summer that doesn't even want to come I doubt we'd brief we're no longer interested, we'd look like right fools.

It's much more believable that we just leave it till the end of the window and say Barcelona and FDJ couldn't work out their wage issues.

I just hope we plan to sign a midfielder.
That is my understanding as well.
United wanted de Jong. de Jong didn't want United (=personal terms not agreed), we might be still interested but not pushing it.
Barca seems to be putting pressure, to put it mildly, on Frankie to make him leave.
It's between FDJ and Barca, he's not coming to us surely though.

I still dont believe this.... I dont believe that such a big club can have their entire season held ransom to 17m

But who is briefing this to the press?

Exactly. No reliable journo either from the UK, the Netherlands or Spain have said that Frenkie doesn't want to join us or reported anything on Chelsea. Romano hasn't said anything like that either.

It's 2022 and most people still believe every single piece of sensational, unreliable, made-up news from known bullshitters.
Romano has constantly said ideally wants to stay though whereas have only heard that from Mitten on Utd side of things

They won't be held ransom for it. But clearly Frenkie is not in their plans so they are trying to alienate him as much as possible by playing him as a backup CB to make sure he will take any offers to play elsewhere.
Not having to pay what they owe him will be seen as a bonus for them.

The idea that we've been sent on a wild goose chase, I don't believe.

The rest of the United hierarchy? Yes.

But Ten Hag? He wouldn't waste United's time or drag us through the mud, he seems incredibly pragmatic.

If De Jong stays it is because he isn't going to be paid. And this is a reasonable, if not likely, outcome.
Yeah they seemingly have no intention of paying him what is rightfully his

I would be amazed if Barca don't have some scummy plan that allows them to register the players they can't afford.

I dont understand why people have so much confidence in this.

Almost every journalist, Spanish or English in the last week or 2 has reported he does NOT want to come to Manutd.

He has 2 options now.

Stay at Barca on his current wage - he has a contract and they have to keep him
Stay at Barca on lower salary - He has done this before.

United is simply not an option. If Barca pay him off, his salary will be in line with others.
Yeah none of them reliable on Utd

Even if Barca can’t register the players until de Jong leaves. That still doesn’t change the fact he doesn’t want to join us. He may leave for Chelsea or someone els.

You believing it or not is not really the point. La Liga sets a hard salary cap based on revenues and right now Barca are miles over. Last season the same issue was ultimately why Messi was not re-signed, even had they found the money to pay him he could not have played in the league due to the salary cap issue. In this case Barca have gone on a spending spree on the assumption that they can reduce their wage bill by selling unwanted players to fit the new signings into the cap but as of right now their current squad are showing little inclination to move on. FDJ has always been the ideal departure simply because the way his deferred money was pushed forward means his salary for the next few years is massive in comparison to just about everyone else and so his sale alone would give them room to fit Lewa, Raphina and potentially Kounde into the cap.

It's not £17m. They owe him £17m in wages they haven't paid but they also have to continue paying his full £350k+ per week wages until his contract expires in 4 years or until he agrees to move somewhere else. In La Liga they have a wage cap and until they get their squad wages under the cap they can't register new players.

I don’t see why taking a pay cut to stay there is even an option. He knows they want him out, there’s no way he’s going to take a pay cut to stay there when he can get paid his full wages without doing a thing.

That is not a fact, simply a narrative pushed by sections of the Spanish media. Frenkie has never at any point said anything about United one way or another.

You said Chelsea are more likely to win the league when, spoiler alert, they aren’t. The likelihood of either happening are very similar, as I said. These are the harsh realities whether you can read them or not.

Can you offer any proof of that, some that isn't from Sport or some random Spanish guy

No matter what the rules and regulations say, I can absolutely guarantee you Barca will have Lewa and Raphina registered and playing for them.

It doesn’t matter what obstacle lays in front of them, Barca will use every corrupt unethical mindless goatfecking feckery to get out of any situation.

Good point. This is why they will have to pay him off with some kind of a lump sum if they want to get him off the books. They've lots of levers but no leverage at all apart from making things uncomfortable for him. It's also the only reason I can see for playing him at CB.
