Yeah no, seriously his showing for their NT during the internationals was abysmal. He doesn’t deserve to be an unconditional starter anymore, neither for United nor for Portugal. It’s not terrible that he doesn’t see it himself as he thrives on his self-confidence and the moment he loses it he won’t be worth anything as a player anymore, but I think the managers at club and country need to realise it and act accordingly. He can still play a role as a sub though, but he is going to need to accept his new role, hopefully he does, otherwise we can always find a way to sell to a CL team (or whoever is interested) in January.

Yeh the likes of Rooney and Sanchez must be very thankful to sports science during their early 30s too.
Sports science has never been enough … you have to put in the effort. We are comparing Ronaldo and Pele, not a bunch of guys a few tiers below them.

Unless he has an injury a player of his age can't afford to miss pre season. He is reaping the results of his absence. I definitely expect to see him get into form as we get closer to the world Cup.
Would agree with this. Post world cup will be interesting, suspect he might leave in January. If he would accept a role coming off the bench and be willing to play more with his back to goal due to a lack of pace he might be useful for us, however current Ronaldo is of little use to the team.

Lack of pre season is a very big issue. As you age, as I well know unfortunately, fitness just doesn't last, you could train for 6 months in your 40's but stop for a week and it's like you never trained before....he is approaching 38 so it is going to take him much longer than a 28 year old who missed pre season.

It's the same form he was in for a good chunk of last season. Old players progressively perpetually decline, preseason or no. Watching him trying to save a ball from going out of play last season was sad because of how often he would slip trying to decelerate. One of these days he might bag a couple and his fans will conveniently declare the preseason rust only just wore off. In reality his athleticism is permanently downgraded.

His decline is only contentious to suggest because of how infectious his delusion is. Actually has people believing his crap about feeling like a 28 year old.

How do you feel like a 28 y.o anyway? there's no specific taste or feeling to it. You breath in Oxygen and breath out Carbon dioxide. Since the day you were born until you die.

There was a time where players retired with grace and admitted they weren't up to it anymore.
That’s still the case. It’s more or less only Ronaldo who refuses to accept that he’s getting older.

What Zlatan is doing at Milan for example is miles apart. Even though he puts on an inflated ego persona for the media, it’s abundantly clear that Zlatan knows his place. He has accepted pay cuts and knows he’s just a bit part player at this point.

Ronaldo’s ego on the other hand is not an act.

Sad to see him sat on the bench all glum. Fully understandable why he’s not playing but honestly wish he’d come out immediately after last season & stated he wanted to leave, could have got his wages gone & he’d be off somewhere to play.

He looks glum not because of our performances but because he's worried about losing his all-time scoring record to Haaland!

He's not going to see the pitch in Premier League games. He's 6th in the attack hierarchy when all attacking players are fit. Maybe even 7th because Elanga played more. He's probably going to be a sub in Europa League, FA cup and EFL cup.

No doubt there will be stories this week about a fall out with Ten Hag.

I believe the statistic is that Haaland would have to score 45 goals per season until the age of 35 to even match Ronaldo…..

He is much more injury prone

The way folk are writing him off is sad.

Yes, it's been a VERY poor start to the season but he was our best forward last season.

Martial/Ronaldo/Antony is the way forward for a bit IMO or Ronaldo coming on as a sub around 60-70th min, he still has a lot to offer.

Rashford as a #9 ahead of him is laughable and it's backfired heavily on Ten Hag.

Ten Hag says Ronaldo wasn't brought on partly 'out of respect for his career'. #mufc

Ten Hag on Cristiano Ronaldo: "I wouldn't bring him in because out of respect for Cristiano, for his big career, and the other thing was the advantage I could bring Anthony Martial, he needs the minutes but I don't want to point it out like that."

He’s been a great player. He’s finished at the top level. I think he’s finding that hard to deal with tbh. It must be hard being the absolute best in the world to slowly seeing a decline to the point where your not even signficant in a big match like today.

I wish him the best, but he can’t offer us anything other than the odd cameo roles.

What exactly does that mean?

He means there is no point bringing him in a game we are losing by 4-5 goals. And Martial needed minutes. Which is fair enough.

He’s obviously trying to make some kind of amends as he knows it was an insult..

It's a side show we don't need, can't leave soon enough.
He's not harming anyone sat on the bench, he's being extremely harshly judged for a player who missed the entire preseason. Looking forward to seeing him getting Europa games to be honest, get him a few goals and he'll be an asset to the boss.

Obviously it doesn't need pointing out once again that it was his fault he missed pre season, but do seriously think Ronaldo is looking forward to playing on Thursday, and then probably been benched on Sunday again. He isn't built for this to be happening to him, and I wouldn't expect him to go along with it willingly or quietly until he finally leaves.

That he feels he has to make amends for not starting a player who has been gash all season is odd and sad. CR is actually now above earning his way into the first team. Look at Martial who came on, scored 2 goals and made a case for a starting role, that's how things are meant to be done but we treat CR like he's still a balon d'or. This is why managers were ready to get sacked than have their clubs sign him.

So you know what his personal issue was during the summer for a fact? I don't so I'm not going to slate it for him, I'm very aware he's had a difficult time this year on a personal level. He's been very well behaved this season, but some fans are just desperately looking for anything they can deem as poor behaviour as a reason why he shouldn't be at United. The club wanted him to stay, blaming him for that is a tad odd.

Personal issues that he nor the club have chosen not to disclose. So none of us have the inside line I'm afraid, despite what the media may say and some may choose to believe.
I guess we are still waiting for that tell-all interview Ronaldo was going to do to squash all rumors. He’s done at United for sure. Hope we can offload him and maguire ASAP

That's nonsensical shit. He clearly doesn't want to play Ronaldo in a meaningful game again but meanwhile he can't think of a good way to say it to the press.
