He'll be back by next month.
No unless he'd properly apologise.

We'll be a joke if so. Ruin what ETH has done so far in the dressing room too.

Even if both Martial and Rashford got injured I'd rather play Maguire there. Can't be worse and at least he keeps his mouth shut and didn't behave like a spoiled twat.

I wonder, two days on from what he did, whether he regrets it or not. Not only has he publicly been embarrassed while being the most famous person in the world, but his hopes of a good World Cup are disintegrating as we speak. He already hasn’t been match fit due to his decision to boycott pre-season, the Portugal fans have been highly critical of him after he cost them Nations League qualification against Spain and he now won’t play for an entire month before the tournament begins.

He’s in big trouble, and he only has one person to blame. As for us, he’s realistically won us one game this season and played very poorly in most others. We won’t miss him, especially if Martial returns soon.

I don’t know if he’s capable of feeling embarrassment. Probably why he was an elite player but he definitely thinks he’s still world class and should be playing at the top level and probably feels justified in his actions. Only reason he has semi apologised is he wants to play pre WC.

Wonder what Fergie thinks of this since he told ole to bring him back to the club
I thank fergie massively for what he achieved here but his spectre hangs over the club heavily. He needs no more say in what happens here in regards to football decisions. That would never happen with Ole, ten Hag is a clean face with no alliances to the ways of old.

The lad arguing for Ronaldo in this page isn’t too bad. He makes a couple of coherent points, if not points that I disagree with. Some of his Twitter fans are absolutely insane though. He could genuinely punch them square in the face and they’d still defend him with their lives. I really don’t understand it - I’d do it for Manchester United but never for any individual who I don’t know personally, even if I have a great connection to them as players and even people (Rashford).

I know you lot are on high mood celebrating the difficult moment of the player you hate most. But that’s classless and totally unnecessary.
It's a joke. There is no hate involved, class wasn't a goal and jokes are rarely necessary.

ETH showed charisma and leadership in this situation which is far more important for the future of the club than Ronaldo staying or leaving.

Maybe.

But I would repeat what I've said before:

It's possible (very likely even) that Woodward/United used Fergie to secure the Ronaldo transfer. That doesn't mean he pushed for it or unduly influenced the actual decision makers at United to go for it.

We don't know how much Fergie has been involved in anything since his retirement. But there is very little evidence that he's been - let's say - consistently influential. As far as I know, there hasn't been a word said by any of his managerial successors indicating that he's been meddling in their affairs. Both LVG and Mourinho have made comments about the club (the structure, Woodward) - but nothing about Fergie being a negative presence hanging over 'em.

my memory was it was Fergie telling the club if he goes city all hell would break loose and cant let it happen. Woodward made it happen very quickly (Rio confirmation), but the board were not the pursuers

I’ll always appreciate and admire Ronaldo for his first stint at the club. He was truly the best player in the world for awhile and has a pretty decent argument as the GOAT.

Those attributes that made him so great are now working against him.

No excuse for his behavior this week. If he wants to play for us again, and keep playing for us, he needs to apologize to the team and the fans, work his ass off in training, and start scoring goals.

Saw some Ronaldo stans online say Ten Hag doesn't know how to handle absolute superstars. Well... He handled this situation perfectly. Good stuff.

This proves ETH is in charge, for once its refreshing . Ronny made a cock of himself he knows that and he will now miss a trip to London were we could have done with him in the Squad.

He will be off in the Summer anyway or before even? So everyone needs to just put up with the Circus that surrounds him. ETH has shown I'm the Boss .

Even that doesn't really amount to Fergie making calls above and beyond his station (which is, formally, a "director" on par with Bobby Charlton and a couple of others): the actual decision would have been Woodward's.

And - again - there is no evidence that Woody was some kind of Fergie puppet in general.

(He was a muppet, no doubt, but not a puppet.)

Anyway, if the argument is: Fergie wanted Ronaldo back - then yes, sure, he probably did. He's an old man, though, sentimental, whatever. I can forgive that.

Prime Fergie would've stayed well clear, though. And deep down, I suspect the current version would agree with that.

Act with more class, maybe? Or stop moralizing on others?
Well out of nowhere I got a punch in my face first, there's really not much need for class when I am going to return something back.

But that's where I draw my line, won't go any further from there, can continue to show my class after that in civilised manner.

How many players of any team you have seen doing the same? & how many of them were considered "legends" at that club? How many of them were "leaking" that they want out of the club? & after you do all that math, how many of them were "rumored" to join their hated rivals just a few months ago?

P.S. I put "legends" there because I dont consider him a legend anymore at my beloved club, everyone else is free to think what they want to.
P.P.S. He might or might not want out of the club + he wanted to join Citeh was may be rumors but may be not.
There was some info about this I didnt know about, i dont know he left the stadium etc. He is done here after this. Hopefully

That's what I'm taking from this, mainly.

ETH was put in a very difficult position with regard to Ronaldo (that's my take on it, from the outside).

And he's dealt with it as well as he could (that's my take on it, from the outside).

(It's what I said months ago, though, basically - he needs to get the team playing well: if he does that, Ronaldo has no leverage.)

It’s Woodward at the end of the day who made the decision

But anyway I reckon 99% of Utd fans all lapped it up too. I can’t stand the cnut and even I was taken away by the excitement of it all, it was one of the craziest days. On his way to city and then an incredible turnaround. For the day alone it was probably worth it and nice that football can still surprise us.

But yeah in hindsight it was a rotten move for all concerned and my dislike for Ronaldo has increased immeasurably

if he did go city he would have won the league, and very likely the Champions league for City in that team. i guess there is that consolation

Ronaldo should behave better, but I'm not ready to write him off. He's always been the star so this is a completely new situation for him. His behaviour is childish yes, but let's see how he responds in the upcoming weeks before we write him off completely.

ETH absolutely spot on the way he handled this situation. He's doing all the right things. Nobody is bigger than the club.

Just offer him mutual termination of his contract and let him off to sporting or MLS. No top club is going touch him
I seriously doubt he will play in the US. While he may have been cleared of all charges, if the US media create enough of a stink, the local DA might reopen the case. Considering todays partisan politics mixed with a desire for social justice in the US, the chances of such a thing happening are not zero.

He's played it so badly Ronnie, by refusing to come on the (majority) of fans have turned on him and he'll likely never play again. It was already difficult to watch him with him looking so off the pace but now if he does play again, he'll get very little support from the fans. I dont see a way back for him personally.

As nice as it's been for us all (me especially) to swim around in the nostalgia of Ole, Rio, Keane, Evra, Neville and Scholes as pundits we need to move. The club are finally moving on. The fanbase do also. They don't have our best interests at heart. They don't want to be eclipsed because then they become irrelevant. We need new heroes now. Time to let go of SAF, 99 and all that. ETH is here and doing things the right way.

So the dressing room leaker is still there. Who would that be?
i’ve received a copy of the transcript that was briefed to a couple of journos-

you won’t believe what happened this evening. ronaldo stormed off down the tunnel, 2 minutes before full time, his muscles rippling as he went. ronaldo glided effortlessly towards the changing room, biceps bulging, abs rock hard. a lady swooned. he pushed open the changing room door with ease, the hinges no match for his supple, lithe body.

“wow, that was done with all the grace and finesse of someone in their early twenties”ronaldo thought he heard someone say. he grabbed the keys to his ferrari and glanced at the bleep test results that were displayed on the whiteboard. it contained not only the results from the united squad, but somehow from every premier league team “still number one,” ronaldo thought to himself. as he left the changing room he could hear his team mates, still playing, “scream! how do we win without ronaldo!?” “eeeek, we’re half the team without him. how could the hag do this?” mbappe was there and was heard to say “i’m definitely not signing there now with how they treat him.”

ronaldo sped out of the car park, the security guard pointed to a windmill and did the knife slit across throat gesture towards it.

Always felt going for Ronaldo was something we should steer clear of and it's proven to be a terrible decision.

Fair play to ETH. He's managed the situation brilliantly.

I disagree. I think he would have cost them the league and it would have been liverpools year if Ronaldo was starting for city last season

So actually it’s good for us if you look at it like that

Obviously wrong from Ronaldo etc, but why would ETH want to bring him on on the 87th minute? Is it some kind of thing between them?
Changing a froward in the late 80’s isn’t an unusual sub at all?

Who cares when the manager wants you in. A player can be called upon anytime during a game, this is not the first time it's been done and won't be the last. Maguire the captain came on in the 90th minute against Sheriff, you didn't see him moaning.
