I think this is a bit of a silly take if I'm honest. The team is currently 3 points off 3rd place having played all 6 teams currently in the top 7 apart from us. Playing 5 games against the conventional "big 6", 2 of them away.

We've arguably had the hardest run of fixtures in the league.
While dealing with important absences during a period where the manager and players were still learning about each others. It's a pretty good start from a number standpoint. Also we actually didn't start all that well on the pitch but have been improving on a weekly basis.

That 1st half performance was really good. Completely dominated against Chelsea at the Bridge.

Like the scattered and ultimately average results? Football is better no doubt but if just for a top 4 challenge is disappointing.
Average results?

What games have you been watching? Beaten Pool, Arsenal and Spuds, drawn Chelsea and Newcastle. Seems pretty damn good to me. Could (should) have won the two drawn games.

I swear posters are negative just for the sake of it (or are just trolls).

Let it sink in. Today we forced Chelsea to make a tactical sub before half time and start making their players shadow ours..

We’re becoming the team that plays and other teams try to stop us from playing. Can also see it with the fouls that get regularly committed on Antony.

That’s basically the ultimate sign of fear/respect

Turns out not listening to Rangnick has been the right call.
To be fair we also don't know this. It might be that pressuring Ten Hag to work with Rangnick on recruitment might have been even better than our current situation.

Id be happy with comfortably in the top 4. Going down to the wire to finish 4th isn’t something I can get excited for.
And seriously.. miracles? We’ve spent 240m and have an expensively assembled squad already.

Being almost on a par with spurs and Chelsea is nothing to rave about.
I seriously doubt you would be happy you miserable twat.

Van Gaal  nothing like this football.
Football maybe not but result wise and holding our own against the top 6 sides it is like how we played city and Liverpool off the pitch under van gaal, mourinho and ole were pragmatic and more concerned stopping these sides

It was clear Hag didn’t think Rangnick was going to be helpful. So far Hag has made the right calls in recruitment and changing discipline and the culture.

There’s still work to be done of course but the performances against Spurs and Chelsea suggest that we are on the right track for the first time in the post-SAF era. In the first half today, we played like a big team dominating territory and possession rather than cowering in our half waiting for a counter attack opportunity.

Yes. Van Gaal struggled to break teams down. I think the biggest problem was a lack of the right players, or they could not perform (Depay/DiMaria).

Hag still has work to do: we need to improve chance creation and finishing.

Give this guy some fit players and he'll eventually win us the league, especially if Saint Pep fecks off.

He's got us looking so much better, Spurs and Chelsea barely had a chance on our goal the last 2 games, we edged possession today away from home against a good side which is impressive.

Not a fan of his subs today though, think we overcomplicated it and lost balance of our team and resulted in no attacking threat 2nd half. Elanga should have come on for Sancho. Packing the 2nd half with midfielders is something he's done previously but usually to protect a lead.

I'm still concerned our attacking play just isn't good enough in terms of chance creation, we're 8th in xG, but it's probably something a top class centre forward will fix by themselves. Finishing looks to be an issue but we're not really underperforming our xG in the league so we need to up the amount of chances we create.

We are very close.

Our play until the final 3rd is much improved and looking fantastic lately.

We seem to stumble a bit in the final 3rd with poor decision making. We could create clear chances more consistently considering the positions we manage to get into. Certain players being a non-factor lately(like Sancho) doesn't help either.

He’s doing all the things we’ve been talking about for years. No cliques with certain players, who are never dropped regardless of their performance. Or living off the glow of previous glories. Or bowing down to the people who sell shirts.

Ten Hag is purely about the football being played on the pitch. If you play well and do as you are told, you are in the team. Where we have gaps, he will work on it. If we can’t buy someone, he will work on the players he has here. We see De Gea spraying balls out to the wings, something he has unable to do for his entire career. He didn’t give Casemiro a start until he was fully adapted to the speed of the PL. He just has a knack for doing what it necessary. No BS or owt.

He sees what we see and does something about it, and that is why he will be a great manager for us.

I do accept that, what worries me though is that I don’t expect us to win any game this season. Think we will drop plenty against lower half opposition but hope I’m wrong.

I dont know if you're serious or not..You had some dire dire football the past 3 years with no patern of play at all. A horrible last season and a squad in disarray. Are you seriously saying he should be competing for the title? If so, you're highly delusional. This guy is working miracles in my opinion, I saw some really impressive fieldplay the last two games. You btw played the hardest teams of all the other top 6 teams in the first 10 matches. It will get easier.

Not wrong though am I? Squad has been massively underperforming. I won’t sit and applaud 4th this season (if we get it).
Under performing? Did you not see the mess last season. It's on you if you think we should be in the title race. Spoiler alert, we never were and won't be this season.

I think he meant with the results. LVG had decent wins against top team, he beat Liverpool and city a few times. Agreed though, his football doesn’t compare to the one we’re playing now.
Even if we're talking regarding results only, it's still bollocks. We had great record against big teams in 2017/2018. We also had great results against them in Ole's honeymoon period.

What are you talking about? The fact we would now see 4th as an amazing season is just tragic.

Nothing to do with the name ‘man Utd’, we were comfortably in the top 4 until last season and that was under ole who supposedly was clueless according to most.

let’s also not forget we signed sancho, Varane,Ronaldo, Casemiro, Anthony, Martinez, eriksen in the last 12 months. This team should be comfortably in top 4.

fecking Ole got us top 4, and you think Ten Hag might do it once in 3 years? Your posts reek of someone who quite simply hasn't got a clue. You should be posting on twitter with the other children.
I was being sarcastic clearly. The fact 4th would be celebrated by some is what I have an issue with.

ole had us comfortably in the top 4 twice as you say. Of course last season is all that matters though, despite 90% of the personnel being the same.

In a couple of years when Pep and Klopp are both gone this bloke could have us sticking at the top again.

So you wanted us to compete for the title after finishing 6th with 58 points.
No I thought we’d be comfortably in top 4, especially as most of the same squad with a few top additions finished there in 2 of the previous 3 seasons.

I can’t get excited for 4th but that’s just me.

I like to see us win as many football matches as possible. So maybe it is different tastes.
