So the Chelsea rejects will now look to buy us. Hardly fills you with confidence when that muppet Todd Boehly was deemed the best of that bunch.
They struck oil in the 70s, formed a nation and then invested well it's a brilliant place honestly they have great infrastructure.I know absolutely nothing about U.A.E and particularly Dubai.
Are they just as bad as the rest of them?
Dubai for me just seemed like a random place that shot to fame about 15 years ago and seemed like a new business hub of the world

Yes, just to add. Dubai is not an ‘oil country’ and we wouldn’t be an ‘oil club’. Dubai makes c. 1% of gdp from fossil fuels, most is from finance, tourism, construction etc. it would be like saying the UK is an ‘oil country’ for our few % of GDP we make from the North Sea.
Definitely the most western of the emirates, as anyone who has been to brunch there can attest to…

Dubai don't officially own Manchester City, it is someone from Dubai, so you would think another person from Dubai could buy United. Same with states who apparently don't own Newcastle and PSG either.

I think Ratcliffe’s all talk. He offered to buy them for £4m after the deadline was set for potential buyers to make their offer. He would’ve known fine well they’d have no intention of accepting his “bid”.

I realised I got the states muddles, but just saying you could get two owners from the same state. Imagine the Abu Dhabi Derby.

Yep, as @crossy1686 mentioned before recent earnings call, people were betting on the stock hitting a certain price by a certain date.
This usually happens when you have some catalysts e.g. rumours of sale. And given that options activity for our stock is limited (people don't speculate on it much), what you see above is way out of the ordinary and shows the insiders with connections made money.
Can someone convince me that there isnt a scenario where we actually regret the Glazers going and somehow end up with even worse owners??
I posted earlier that a potential buyer is already known and due diligence has already been done. Just about dotting the i's and crossing the t's.
This is further along than we think. Considering Liverpool put the same news out a couple weeks ago, I've heard absolutely nothing about what FSG consider a good price or potential buyers. Less than a day after this news the Glazers are already consident of a price?
Maybe the fact is we are broke and there is no cash to buy a new striker in Jan, never mind fix all the other problems. Utd could be sold before Jan so that the glazers dont have to dig into their own pockets.

There isn't anyone who can guarantee that all we've waited 17 years for this moment now that it has come we have to risk the unknown now. Will we have better or worse owners time will tell.
It's going to feck up our transfer window isnt it. Can't see them agreeing to any sizable transfers whilst things are in motion.
It's unlikely to happen as Man City is owned by the Abu Dhabi royal family. I can't see them allowing a competitor to emerge from the same emirate to buy United.
Other emirates in the UAE simply couldn't match the financial firepower of Man City's owners, basically every single one of City's sponsors is owned by them as well.
Think it will be done by January tbh. How long did the Chelsea one take?

It's been happening since the Summer. It's only just gone public as it's getting quite close now - hence the insider trading with the share price.
If news comes out that someone has just bought a minority stake with no intention of buying the whole thing in the mid term future then fans will riot and that idiot would find himself in the receiving hand of boycotts and all sort of abuse. So the Glazers know that this will lead to a sale. Probably they had tried throughout all summer to find a solution through the first option and that had failed miserably.
I also doubt that Sir Jim Ratcliffe will end up buying the club. He tanked in buying Chelsea and we're far more expensive and popular. I can only see this ending up in two ways ie a sovereign country or a consortium. The former is, in my opinion, the most plausible option. I won't be surprised if the Newcastle guys would simply sell the club to buy us or they weasel a way to have us both (with Newcastle acting like some sort of feeder club)

OK. I don't like City, but it would be nice if whoever buys us can develop the area for the local community as well.
there's nothing in the rules about having two owners from the same state, they just can't be connected (eg run by the same people)
even that rule got magically broken by the red bull situation with little blow-back
Think it might mean would you want to go up against a very powerful royal family. It will be another buyer from a different country.
Imagine if they buy us as well and then they simply merge the two clubs into one big Manchester United.
I'm nervous and excited by this.
We are in desperate need of modernisation and new nvestment is the only way to do it.
