Being a silly goose
Last season this time people were going ape shit about how shit Rangnick was.
After 22 rounds we were on 38 points sitting 5th on the table level on points with Arsenal. Our last 5 matches were a draw vs Villa (We were leading 0-2 and still drew 2-2 in the end), loss to Wolves (0-1), win vs Burnley (3-1), draw vs Newcastle (1-1) and a win vs Brighton (2-0)
We scored 37 and conceded 30

Ten Hag is apparently now way better. After 22 rounds we have 43 points and are sitting 3rd on the table with Newcastle right behind us with a game in hand. Our last 5 matches - Draw / 2-2 vs Leeds, Win / 2-1 vs Crystal palace, Loss / 3-2 to Arsenal, Draw / 1-1 vs Crystal Palace and Win / 2-1 vs Man City. How many of these results were lucky? City win was pure luck. We also rode our luck vs Palace.
We scored 36 goals and conceded 28.

I've said at the begining of the season that Ten hag needed luck to succed here and he's so far had an amazing amount of it - both Chelsea and Liverpool being absolute shit at the same time and some of the games the city one in particular...

I think we are in for tough spell with the volume of games and losing Casemiro and Eriksen. ETH needs to find the right combination up front, issue at the moment is Rashford is probably our best striker and LW.
We defo looked better once rashford went up top and sancho played on the left. I’d go with that and hopefully Antony on the right.

Weghorst looks like a swing and a miss bless him, want it to work out, but he's really not offering much up top. He can't get every transfer spot on, and it's only a desperate loan, so I don't hold it against the manager.

Are you seriously comparing Ragnick and Ten Hag and saying the only difference is Ten Hag is luckier?

With the point total we’ve got we’d be in the top four in either season, there’s clear and obvious improvements on last season. The win and draw against City and Palace weren’t lucky.

I don't know how Chelsea and Liverpool being shit at the same time isn't an amazing amount of Luck.
Add 10 points to both teams and see how the table would look like. We're also lucky that Spurs are spurs.
Again don't complain next season when Chelsea and Liverpool get their shit together and we're out of the top 4 race in December - because it probably will happen.
Seen it with Mourinho and with Ole in the last 6 years. One season we're amazing next season not so much, rinse and repeat.

Give them 10 points and they’re still behind us? What kind of logic is this?

It's called football.

Is Arsenal suddenly out of nowhere being great counted as bad luck for Ten Hag? Is that how it works? Or Newcastle only losing once all season so far and being top 4? What amazing bad luck for Ten Hag!

If you seriously are trying to say theres no difference between Ten Hag and fecking Rangnick then I don't know what to tell you. It's an absolutely insane thing to say.

I can't believe how some of you are ignoring Chelsea and Liverpool
Give them 10 more points was your argument. Why not give us more? You get what you deserve at the end of the day.

Our manager is 6 months into his job and Klopp is 7 years. It's time to log off pal you've had a mare here.

They have games in hand. Liverpool 2, Chelsea 1
Be honest with yourself. Forget the results. Do you think we are on the right trajectory? Do you think Ten Hag has done a good job with the squad? Do you think we look more organized than we have at any point since LVG?

Spoiler alert, there won't be a season where everyone has their shit together. It just doesn't happen like that. Christ, what a scary level of cluelessness.

If he doesnt manage to finish fourth this season with Liverpool and Chelsea sitting in mid table while our competitors are Newcastle and Conte's Spurs I don't think he'll ever manage to win let alone challenge for any big titles.

Literally all the outside factors have fallen into place for him this season to be able to secure CL qualification. If he's not able to make it I will start to worry he's not up for it.

Right now he needs new owners with money skill and will to do the right things and back him in transfers as squad depth is doing him bad now, we have so many fixtures, lost key players and frankly some of the dross like Fred coming in instead just ain't up to the standards of Man Utd or the ball ETH wants to play

Also not his fault Martial is made of glass and owners / board only managed to get him Wout on loan having known Ronnie was gone for more than a month

Deserves a lot of credit this season, but didn’t think he had a good night. You don’t compound your selection issues, when Casemiro, Eriksen, Martial and Antony are all unavailable, by having the in-form goalscorer in the league play out of position to accommodate Weghorst and Garnacho.

Are you out of your fecking mind? If anything the recent dropped points have been unlucky. How many goals will Olise score like that in his career? And let’s not forget that free-kick was taken five yards closer than the foul occurred. With the wall forced 12 yards back from the ball.

And even though Arsenal deserved to win what kind of lunatic sees us drop points deep into injury time, twice in a fecking row, and thinks our manager’s been lucky?!?

But then one can say we are also unlucky that Newcastle and Arsenal are doing well this season. Or one better Liverpool have been lucky all this seasosns because United have been crap. Or Pep is lucky that others around him are crap. We are not lucky in fact injuries to eriksen Martial Mctominay and suspension to Casemiro mean he is unlucky.

City had one shot on target in the entire game which was their goal and yet it's considered a lucky win for us.

You seriously think so? His rivals this year for the spots are Conte's horrid Spurs, the way they play is toxic venom to the eyes and they have been shocking for most of the season even for their standards. On the other hand you have Eddie Howe and Newcastle.

Think it's a pretty safe bet that if you fall behind those two you are not likely to be any big success. I seriously hope that doesn't happen cause I want him to have some good grounds to continue on next year and cl would be a good start.

If he fails to achieve this behind newcastle and spurs it's not a good look.

Don't pretend anything else.

The result today was just due to starting with Weghorst. Once he was subbed off we completely dominated the game and deserved to win. I see no reason to panic about finishing top 4.

Ten Had did make a mistake in the starting lineup but he will learn form it. The fundamentals are still there. He chose the wrong players this time.

This. I’d even go as far as to say we’ve had more bad luck than good luck this season.

I despair at how little some supposed football fans actually know about football.

We are barely scoring goals. 3 times this season we managed to score 3 goals - Arsenal, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest. We've won 9 games in EPL this season by 1 goal and 4 by more than 1 goal (3 3:0 and 1 2:0)
Among those 1 goal wins there were at least 2-3 games where we came very close to drawing if it wasn't for DDG's saves or Martinez's last ditch tackling.

I actually thought Garnacho was a bigger problem. Sancho on the left improves us in terms of chance creation massively, which is generally a weakness for us.

You lot are mental. We just drew against a revitalised Leeds after a 13 game winning streak at home and suddenly EtH is lucky and isn’t up to the task. fecking hell.
