Again I must be being naive, but why is it only an issue for Qatar/PSG when Ratcliffe also owns Nice? Same competitions or not, it is a dual ownership with the POTENTIAL (even if small) to cause same issue as United/PSG
Probably just generates more clicks.

It's really not hard that hard to believe that this would be the straw that broke the camel's back for many people. You'll be surprised to learn that several thousand fans left the club when the Glazers took over and formed their own club. Some people have a different moral compass to your own - shock!

Oh I remember it all well.

As someone covered this last week, it's the club we support, the whole focus on the owners, who are minimal to the club.

The only thing about that is - the ‘heart and soul’ of the club will now be irreversibly changed.
Utter rubbish.

Was it changed when the Glazers took us over? I bet people said the same then. Has City or Newcastle's dentity changed?

We will barely know the difference with the Qatari's in charge. Maybe they'll show their faces at a match every now and again, but the 'face' of the company won't be any different.

For you, the worst thing that could happen to the club is the owner taking dividends. For others, it's the owners being autocratic rulers that subjugate other human beings. People are different.

Why's it that hard to believe that allegiance to the club might not carry the same weight for everyone? Being a supporter for you might be life or death, support the club through anything, but for others, it's simply entertainment, and as soon as said entertainment runs afoul of their principles, it's easy to check-out.

Becoming competitive isn't changing an identity. They've still got the same history, legends, stilll wear the same colours and are still a small club in Manchester.

I really hope Beckham has nothing to do with the Qatari bid.

The guy has his snout in everything. What makes him the best candidate to get the fans on board? I can name 100 people I'd choose before him.

Didn't he get exposed a few years ago for doing lots of disingenuous work for good P.R in the hunt for an MBE.

Go away.

Nice to see so many of you who just do not give a shit who owns the club as long as they give you players and money. Im certain the womens team will be excited to be owned and funded by the regime that do not allow women do live life without permission from a male guardian. You lot have the backbone of a jellyfish and Im happy to take a account warning for the truble of telling you as much.
'I'm sure the woman's team will be excited'

keep seeing this. as if PSG and City don't have a woman's team, are they protesting at every game? or do they just collect they're wages and play football?

Sure, but it's not like they've never had green away kits before - in fact it's a fairly common colour scheme.

If they'd changed their home kit like the Cardiff owner did, then that would be a big issue.

Yeh let’s use @Nori- instead to be the face of this bid!

One thing about Becks is he cares about this club.

I beg to differ. It will hang over the club like a dark cloud. You can guarantee the media, rival fans and the like will absolutely hold this against the club, and will delight in haranguing us about our hypocrisy at every game. We won’t be allowed to forget about migrant workers, women’s rights, lgbt issues, journalist murders and we will have ‘bought’ every trophy we win post takeover cheapening ETHs achievements.

In a business sense he’d probably do wonders for us. Seems relatively successful away from the football pitch.

I think there are more pressing issues regarding the potential of this takeover.

I don't believe he cares as much as you like to think.

He's all about lining his pockets and building the Beckham brand. Always has been. Luckily for him associating himself with one of the biggest sporting brands in the world (Man Utd) + one of the richest families in the world (Qatari's) works out great for him.

In actuality, you hardly ever see Citeh or Guardiola getting their accomplishments downplayed in the press because of their dubious owners.

In fact you rarely ever hear it brought up at all unless there's a scandal/investigation going on

No. The Glazers aren’t a state and the club was successful in spite of them in any case.

Has City or Newcastle's dentity changed?
Err…Yes!

Neither of those clubs have the kind of history or identity that United has. Indeed, comparatively speaking both had pretty much had neither prior to their current ownership (though Newcastle obviously haven’t had any success yet).

Completely disagree. The media never really raises issues with ME ownership of these clubs these days (I'd assume to stay in the good graces), and quite frankly who gives a feck what other clubs fans say. We've gotten ridiculed for 10 years now for being laughably incompetent for a huge club.

I don't give a rats ass about rival fans and the media, they have been 'haranguing' Utd since before i was around and will be haranging Utd long after i'm gone.

Utd belong at the very top of club football and owners are needed that can restore and maintain this. Someone mentioned City being changed by new owners, thats true in their case because they have a long history of being sh%&e and now are really good.

Please go silently as the rest of us would like to enjoy this new era.
Take your own advice there I'd say, most of us would rather not listen to that kind of needlessly aggressive acting the bollocks. Especially when you're completely wrong.

Elon Musk in is the best we can hope for now

I agree with this but on a global scale it makes sense if it happens from the Qatat side, he's still synonymous with United on global scale and they wouldn't have some ex-United player like Paul Scholes being in that "ambassador" role, although there isn't anything recent that suggest it, only something from a few months ago that might have been usual media clickbait.

He's 'associated' with Man Utd because he's one of our biggest and most iconic academy exports. Of course he fecking cares about the club ffs.

Like.

Far too many complete and total pricks in this thread.

Forum really needs a culling at this stage.
