It’s 4.5bn Euros and assume they will also clear the existing debt which is approx 0.5bn. So technically, they value us at 5.5bn USD.

If you really think from an investor side, there is an immediate need to commit another 2BN on stadium and facilities unlike Spurs, Arsenal, Pool who either already have best in class facilities or have done redevelopment over last few years…

Not that couple of billion $ will matter to Qataris but I think purely from financials and need to invest 2bn, it’s a fair bid. I am sure they will increase as things progress.

Funny how all these bidders are lifelong united fans. Don't remember them throwing money into the red knights campaign when they tried to get rid of the Glazers

Why? The asterisk is for breaking rules and cheating isn’t it
Don't even have to break the rules or cheat. I would say right now we have an idea of the type of player we can attract. Yes, our current owners are leeches and that takes away some of the buying power/wage bill. But if a couple years from now we're in for the likes of Mbappe and win titles with them, it will be because of the budget increase from the deep pockets of the owners. Basically buying championships. Thats my worry.

I don't want an asterisk next to any trophies we win in the future and this looks like a good way to get an asterisk next to any trophies we win.
How many more times am I going to read this kind of stuff here?

Let me explain:

Man City was a nothing club. They didn't make money because they only had like 5 fans worldwide. So it took a huge amount of investment to put them on the map. It could have been Huddersfield or Coventry. They also play in a shite shade of blue and have the same amount of fans as Man City.

Clubs like Barca, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Bayern and, yes, Manchester United are already established. We already have billions of fans worldwide. We just need someone to stop taking money OUT of the club every year in the form of dividends, as the Glazers do.

Man City are in deep trouble because allegedly, they have committed fraud. They had to resort to 'creative accounting' due to their huge expenditure. In reality, City's real sponsor Pukka Pies or whoever was probably paying them £1000 a year sponsorship, so again, City suits had to get creative when it came to their end-of-financial-year reports. Man City invented companies which 'pretended' to sponsor them. But these companies didn't exist.

United won't have to do that. We already have millions of fans in China, South Korea, Australia and the like.

FFS, all these long names scrambled my brain after a day of work...

See my post on page 475. This guy is indeed the brother of the ex-Emir and uncle of the current one. I just got confused by the FT writing his name with and without initals in the space of three sentences.
Yeah, I'm coming around to figuring it out.

Jassim Bin Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber AI Thani -- QIB chairman

vs

Jassim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani -- former Crown Prince

So which one of them is ahead of the bid?

Think the Glazers will say not enough. I mean yeah you're looking at straight away 5 billion but if they are clearing the debt Joel and Avram (and the res lt of em) are only pocking 4.5bn. We shall see.
Think itl be two separate transactions.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
feck me, now I'm confused. I found the other bloke with a similar name and that's QIB chairman, and indeed it's a different dude. Where's that original statement?
That’s the one. He’s the son of a former minister. I mean in reality he’s been chosen to front the bid - we all know this is state backed. I imagine he’s been chosen due to being a huge United fan and not having family ties to the royal family.

Utd will never get a bigger opportunity to break new ground on a scale beyond anything we have seen, you suspect they would become something like the harlem globetrotters on the pitch, the potential of the club with Qatar as owners is off the charts, on and off the pitch, and we can either embrace change for the better or be left behind.

Thing is, the Glazers will just take the highest bid. If some American hedge fund planning to mortgage us to the hIlt offers a pound more, they’ll accept that.

Can't we just call them The Thanis?

Count me in being gay. If they were to buy it I would go so far as to hope the club falls into complete footballing irrelevance.
I respect your position, but I have to admit I can’t understand it. There is nothing that any ownership group could do that would stop me being a United supporter. The Saudis could install beheading rooms at Old Trafford and I would hate their regime even more than I hate the Glazers, and I would protest against them whenever possible, but I would still support United, as I have done for more than 50 years.

The soul of the club belongs to the fans and not to the Glazers or the Qataris or whoever does buy them.

It's the first one, I think. His nickname is HBJ and he's actually quite old. He basically was PM for about 20 years until his bro gave power to his son (so this guy's nephew) and then he lost influence got binned off.

Cousin? He was the brother of the Emir in the tweet a few posts ago! not calling you out, maybe your right. But so little is known about any of the names behind these kids
I read the thing again... It is the brother of the former Emir, confusing as all hell.

As I mentioned to another person who replied, yes, our current owners are leeches which affects our wage bill potential or buying potential. But there is a difference between getting some tier B player we may have missed out on otherwise, and getting all tier A players that we previously would have been unable to afford even without Glazer ownership. I'm not sure where that line is, but there is a line where its buying championships as opposed to just letting the team fund itself.

Yep, seems like you guys are probably right (and my previous posts talking about the crown prince are wrong).

Those pro the Qatar bid should be offended though, they didn't even put one of their top guys as the front man!
