I really like that Ten Hag is playing Fernandes from the right, he did the same with Ziyech at Ajax and that worked out great. Both Fernandes and Ziyech style of play is a risk at the center of the field but a great strength and hard to defend if they come from the right of the field. The combinations between Sancho at 10 and Fernandes at the right were great and they can interchange a lot. But where does that leave Antony, the record signing.

Ten Hag the genius will turn Antony into a striker or something

Aside from all the obvious achievements thus far what’s notable is he’s now crafted a team where I actually worry about players being poached by other top teams.

For years we couldn’t give players away because of how badly they’d performed in a red shirt, now we have 5/6 who would walk into most teams in Europe and still have plenty more years in them eg. Rashford, Martinez, Shaw, Bruno. Even players who had been entirely written off would fetch a decent price like Dalot, Fred, Wan Bissaka, Lindelof because of their improved performances and association with a team playing great football.

We still have a few players who are top tier who are unlikely to see another big move in their career like Casemiro, De Gea, Varane, Eriksen but they all seem happy, motivated and firing on all cylinders rather than just here for a pay day.

Then there’s the youth prospects like Garnacho and Pellistri who we might need to fight to hold onto rather than having on our books on stupid contracts despite having achieved very little.

If we keep playing like we are and ETH is able to keep them all happy from a minutes perspective I don’t see us losing many if any of them, but it’s a nice problem to have instead of a bloated team of overpaid prats that no one wants to touch with a barge pole.

I was thinking that season would all be about getting scraps from the table and this man is producing a sumptuous feast 3 times a week. Even better the chef is still not happy if the potatoes aren't fluffy and crispy. However he doesn't throw his raw materials under the bus or blame the commis chef - he does the work and makes it better - even while the service is under way.

We need to let this man cook and give him the ingredients he needs...He will produce the best results in the club's history if he is not messed with.

Nope, just look at PSG. A total disaster.

If we get players like Neymar, Ten Hag will be out the door.
How you’re allowed to spew this shite every single fecking day is beyond me. Keep your trolling to the takeover thread.

Its amazing how he's now gradually starting to rally the fans and be more of a statesman rather than just a football focused coach. He's doing it the right way too because he isn't naturally very showy like a Klopp say. Also he's done this from a position of strength and having showcased to us his quality and building a relationship with the fans over time rather being a tryhard and doing these things from day one. Love the man and can't wait to shave my hair off once he wins us the PL

Just shows how important getting a Case understudy is this summer. We literally have one holding midfielder in the entire squad.
Definitely. We can upgrade on a few positions in the starting eleven but Casemiro's absence is felt most when he's unavailable. Obviously partly because he's a very good player, but we need to sign someone else who can play there. When you see what a proper player in that position looks like, it makes it even more maddening that we've spent the last few years with only old man Matic covering that position.

Neymar gets so much unjust crap it's ridiculous. He's a brilliant player with a very good work ethic on the pitch too. Very content with being a playmaker and not being the center of attention on the pitch. His only problem is being injury prone, and a really bad career move at PSG. Had he stated at Barca or gone elsewhere, he would have been seen as an all time great.

I don't see a manager in world football doing a better job, when you take into account how long he's been here and the massive improvements made.

Yes. If we get Qatar owners we are screwed. PSG is a fecking mess.
PSG have been dominating the league and went to a CL final (and regular semi-finals from what I remember). And I don't understand the comparison of PSG and us. We're already a huge club in the best and most popular league in the world. There is no need for marquee signings to raise profile here. PSG's bombastic statements and signings were more in the direction of raising PSG's profile (and the league as a whole) since for starters - both were a non-factor. Same with the signing of Messi.

Again, totally different positions.

Yea it's getting to be a bit OTT...

ETH's job security is one of the absolute last things I'm worried about with any takeover as there's not a chance in hell any new owner would come on and get rid just cause.

Neymar fought with Cavani for the pens then reportedly wanted Cavani to be sold is something I still remember.

Then I tried a quick google search with 'Neymar incident PSG' and in just the 1st results page you can see him fought with Marquinhos and his Sporting Director just a week ago. Had a dispute with his teammates on field and in the dressing room after the Monaco defeat. Fought with Mbappe over pens and numerous articles on the feud between those two. Also report of his teammates unhappy with him because of his extra privileges.

I don't follow Neymar or PSG so no idea if those are true or not though. But imo it doesn't remotely look like the nice picture you painted him there.

Just look at how Ronaldo acted with Ten Hag. A couple of prima donnas bought by Qatari owners as statement signings would do Ten Hag in, mark my words.

Very different positions indeed. Man United plays like a machine and PSG like a collection of precious stars thrown together.

We don‘t want the type of team building PSG has been doing. Players like Neymar and Messi aren‘t going to put the team first. I‘m doubtful Mbappé would either at this point.

If they buy those stars just because they want to, not because ETH wants to. Then make those stars bigger than ETH then it'd definitely do him like you said. However if they buy those stars because ETH wants to, or give him the necessary authority to deal with them imo it probably won't be that bad.

Us being bought by the Qataris looks inevitable and tbh there's nothing we can do about. But surely we the fans could let the new owners know how much we value and support our manager I think. Just in case.

We wouldn‘t know until it is too late. Owners often buy players that managers didn‘t want.

It is short sighted to just look at the money and ignore the other issues.

Just shows how little football many watch if they think Neymar has been a failure or is a bad teammate. Guy was unbelievably good for about 5 years and is sadly just made of glass so never really had the freakish statistical seasons that he could have produced.

The thing that makes ETH side very good is his team can be the better side with 60+ possession and also with 30+. Very few managers can pull that off.
Good post.

He seems to be juggling 2 types of styles and changing them around depending on opponent and how the game is going.

Loving it so far but would like to see him be able to get the team up for it before the match rather than during it.
To defend ETH a bit, we have started brilliantly in every big game we've had this season, it only seems to be a problem against the smaller teams...

I do think the praise of ETH is deserved. No doubt he is a breath of fresh air in a place that hasn’t had this kind of optimism in a very long time. However, I think we need to understand that this is a process. I do feel that with just Rashford scoring at the moment, we have been a bit lucky with results. Two ways to look at this. One, when Rashford tails off, we’re fecked. Two, we’ve been creating chances and it’s only a matter of time until Bruno, Sancho, Garnacho, Wout and Antony start finishing off these chances. Fingers crossed for the latter.

I have never seen any football forum this ridiculously enthusiastic about a coach. I really hope that if things go worse temporarily we'll still stick with him.
It really still is a process.

ETH seems to be pressing all the right buttons in order to motivate and improve our current players. Also ruthless in removing the parts that was detrimental to our change.

Its actually worrysome how highly i rate him. Just give him full autonomy and lets see where it goes. Im all aboard.

I was nodding until I read „Wout“.

This is by far my favourite thread. The positivity is amazing and the fanbase is finally on the same page.

United and EtH are passing the eye test for sure…but United have found themselves in these positions a few times since SAF.

This week is so important!

C’mon United!
