Looks like its time for his yearly regression back to awfulness, we cant keep buying new left backs just to get Shaw to perform for a couple of months.

I reckon he gets dropped after this. All the talk about accountability would be pointless otherwise.

The thing is, I wonder how many others would get dropped as well. We won't have enough players out there next match.

If he drops everyone for being shit in that match it will legit be 11 changes for the next game

I did think Shaw was particularly bad though.

Not going through the fact you can't recognize humor when it's obvious, the fact that you decided to search through my posts to bring this one from a matchday thread says it all I guess.
Because it's obvious you're an agenda poster particularly in this thread. 1 positive post is all I see in here which says it all. People like you thrive on days like this and I just don't understand it.

A comedy 45 minutes from one of our most reliable players. Everything he did was wrong. Daring the ref to send him off. Hope he's got it out if his system.

No one is forcing you to talk to such an agenda poster, and even making all the efforts to search through his posts in this thread and in general to bring an irrelevant one. Switching the discussion to personal attacks also says everything about you. You have left nothing for me to say. Thank you.

There's quite a few that need dropping after that.

Saying that he was really really poor today.

Thought he was good in the first half, probably United's best player. Shambles in the second though, but then so was every one else for United.

Wish he was embarrassed for himself and his self pride too.

That’s the thing, isn’t it? He was probably the one players most culpable for that second half collapse. Yet also objectively a very good footballer. Who has been important in a good season for the team so far.

All of which means the hordes of muppets using tonight to make far-reaching conclusions about other players (or the manager) are looking like fools.

He just had a shocker in the 2nd half.

He didn't play well vs Liverpool last season either.

Visibly melted after that uncharacteristic awful pass at the start of the second half.

All of our passing patterns were known to Liverpool, ball out to Shaw, not down the line so inside for a one two. Liverpool are this up.

That's the frustrating issue really, he's always been a very good football player with an outstanding first touch and a brilliant cross on him but he has these absolute meltdowns in him and sometimes it's intensely annoying to see fans big him up as the best 'left back in the world' or 'better than evra' when he's got this type of performance in him and it seems a mental thing.

Players have bad games, that's normal. I've seen occasions where Neville fecked up back passes, Irwin's struggled against Ginola or Evra rampaging up the pitch and completely neglecting his flank, but Shaw just seems to have moments where you see his brain just switch off. I don't even mind the mistake for the second goal, it can happen to anyone, but the 6th goal :houllier:

Luke, mate, you've had a performance like this at least once a year for the last 3-4 years, if not more often.

Hard to explain? Bollocks

That second half display from him was the most inept performance from a United player since Bebe vs Wolves. What the feck did he do in the dressing room at half-time, fireball shots?

He was really good first half too
He actually was. I thought he was the best player on the pitch.

We joke about Fred, but even he's never delivered one half of looking like our best performer away at Anfield followed by one of the worst halves of football any United player has ever played for us. Hard to believe.

Yeah, he’s mentally very fragile. We’ve known that for a while. That’s why he’s had such lengthy spells of poor form. He’s a terrific footballer when his tail is up but he does seem to fall apart when things aren’t going his way. And he’s one of many in this squad that applies to. Which is why the turnaround under ETH was always built on shaky ground. Easy to forget that towards the end of last season many fans wanted the whole squad sold so we could start again. There was good reason for that and ETH still has a battle ahead to get the right mentality throughout the whole squad.

Yeah he defended well, but also was a good outlet for attacking. And put in another good delivery from outside from a free kick (Shaw territory I call it)

Yeah that’s a fair summary.

Other players were just as bad as him in that second half (Dalot ) but they looked just inept rather than “checked out”. There was something particularly annoying about the way Shaw and Bruno failed to conduct themselves. And yes, we’ve seen it before.

I am one of those who's long felt he was underrated and among the best LB in the world.

But this record doesn't reflect well on him. As good a player as Salah is

Watching the goals back and some extended highlights and whats worrying even more than Shaw's performance in isolation in that 2nd half is that when he goes to CB and Malacia comes on, Malacia is rubbish and guilty on the goals too. Otherwise I would have suggested we give Shaw a rest and put Malacia in... But no he came on and was bad too.
That was braver than the performance put together by the entire team in the second half.

Never started right and just melted following mistake after mistake. Everyone could see he was struggling, except ETH - should have been replaced long before he was.

While he has filled out his potential in many aspect, consistency thus having more great, good games more and more; he's still capable of these kind of nightmare performance. By nightmare I meant look like he doesn't seem to have any idea what to do. Lacking all the basic.

Hopefully he gets his white together and not having another down time period. This season is still long way for us to end in positive side.

I don’t know he can go from the best left back on the planet / PL to that second half display. I know it’s a collective mental collapse but still.

He’s weak mentally. Scarred from all the drubbings.
I think that’s the case for much of our teams. People don’t realise but constantly losing by a good margin / overwhelmingly being dominated by rivals has a cascading effect. It’s like PSG’s Cl hurdle or Barcelona and their string of away barterings in Europe. I’m sure once they concede two sub consciously something clicks ‘oh feck…’. And good opponents can smell that.
