He looked shattered and unfit. An abomination of a performance but I believe it was down to him not being 100 per cent as even not under pressure he was mis controlling and passing to opponents . Probably needs to rest it our first the next game.

From the sublime....to a hungover Sunday league journeyman in 90-mins!

Love Casemiro, been a monster this season but that must be his career worst performance, surely?

Uncomfortable reality is he's not been as superb as everyone has been making out the last few weeks. Obviously he's been good but he's looked sloppy and slow at times but people overlook it because of his wider impact. Today he looked like he was 50 not 30. Barely broke into a sprint all game. Extremely worrying as he's our most important player by a mile.

He looked like he was struggling with something pretty early on in the game hence not sprinting.

I think that's a shockingly knee jerk reaction. He was terrible today as was everyone on the team but he looked injured and this wasn't representative of his season. He was been amazing in most games this season so having one bad game mean anything.

He needs a break but we can't afford to give him one.

I wouldn't be surprised to see another stupid sending off in the next few weeks anyway.

I think we could beat Betis without him myself.

I'd be more than happy if we rested a few on Thursday evening, as long as they stay in the tie I trust us to beat them in the second leg.

Not just him today but his performance highlights how little depth we have in the squad. He needed to be rested in previous games but we have no one else who can take his place.

I hope we don't burn this squad out before the end of the season but if there's a player guaranteed to be motivated to demolish Real Betis and Southampton in the next few days it'll be him.

I think there'll have to be a few changes. The problem is that our backup players simply aren't good enough.

As long as were still in the tie I think we will be good.

Southampton at home on the Sunday, you'd expect us to be able to rotate in both games.

He's been our player of the season for me (Rashford a close second) but if i do have one worry is that his passing seems well below 75% on most occasions. Makes up for it with leadership, incredible tackling and interceptions, and creativity but i'm always wondering what his passing accuracy was like at Real Madrid because he does give it away a fair bit.

Edit- just checked, it's 78 % this season which isn't that bad. I think it's just been more noticeable in the past few weeks and maybe he's tired.

Did he get injured early on? Looked to not be moving comfortably throughout.

He's in credit overall, but was ghastly today.
i am fairly certain he was playing with a knock. He wasn’t putting himself about as he ordinarily does. Not buying that he was “tired”. He’s missed four games through suspension in the last month so has had a lot more rest than some others.

Had an absolute nightmare today. Even in the first half where we were not too bad he was one of our weakest performers. Couldn't seem to find a Man Utd player.

Very poor game. With that said, he seemed to be injured around 10th minute. He wasn't running much and was grimacing, which the cameras and the commentators also caught onto. I hope he isn't injured.

Thats the point, it's not a kneejerk reaction because I've been thinking it before this game. Also, I've acknowledged he's our best player so I'm not exactly going in on him.

His passing were really off and very casual. Made you remind about the supposed opinions of Carlo Ancelotti on him.

He often misplaces passes I've found, especially early on in games, and no-one ever seems to talk about it just going mad with the superlatives.

He seems to start games slow, this was just the type of game he was never getting back to after a slow start.

I actually don’t fully disagree with this. I find myself bringing up his sloppy passing in the Fred thread a lot because it’s been amazing to me how he often gives the ball away equally as carelessly as Fred, without a word of criticism, while Fred gets slaughtered every single time.

He’s still a great player and has improved us a hell of a lot but I’d like to see him cut out that carelessness in his passing. I don’t know where it’s come from. I don’t remember noticing it when he played for Madrid.

As good as we have been, it's mostly been counter pressing and attacks on transitions where we have made our bread and butter. We may be resilient and solid but we're far away from controlling games. Casemiro is obviously liking playing with more freedom but we've equally over indulged and have become over reliant on his passing from the deep midfield position. We're simply not set up to receive easy midfield passes and dictate tempo on our own terms when we're being pressed etc.

Of course it doesn't help we have Eriksen injured and the fact we've had an insane amount of games.

Today got me thinking this guy is 31 years old with an unbelievable amount of football under his belt, playing in one of the most demanding roles on the pitch, and we probably need to think about his replacement already. Absolutely love him but he did a Matic impression out there today and if we're being honest his level could drop off a cliff at any moment.

Looked like he was carrying an injury today and managed to just about play through it. Didn't look right from the first minute. Hopefully he's fine.

Looked injured and needed more than Fred and Weghorst around him. Not sure how such a hard working midfielder this season in Bruno was out wide.

Very strange performance from him. Any confirmation that he was playing with an injury?

I genuinely think youre an opposition fan with posts like this.
Yes mate. A season of Casemiro being brilliant and Nunez and Gakpo being shit is actually undone by one game of the opposite happening.
Casemiro is the best DMF in the league. But when the unfair schedule made him play 3 times a week, his age caught up with him. So in this particular game where Case was terrible and Nunez and Gakpo shone, Klopp walked the talk regarding his "signings for the future" rant.
And I always rated Nunez and Gakpo. They're brilliant young players who only need time to adapt and built their confidences. There were periods of Rashford being absolutely terrible but I didn't write him off either.

Hopefully he reshapes his body over the summer; now that he knows the consistent level of intensity required in the PL.

I don’t know who that was on the pitch yesterday but it wasn’t Casimero. The only explanation I can think of is that the knock he took early massively effected him. But that does beg the question, why was he allowed to continue if he was injured?

A genuine 0/10 disasterclass of a performance.

He had an uncharacteristically bad game yesterday. I don't know what was on with him, but he was the LAST person I would expect to bottle this.

He was limping on Wednesday, can’t help but wonder if he was playing through injury yesterday. He looked off the pace.

The danish pundits talked about him and Varane having a last minute fitness check before the match. Brian Laudrup speculated that these usually happen when there is something wrong. If him and Varane where playing with a injury then that explains a lot.
