OT was buzzing with him finally sticking it in the net. He is very likeable but missing too many key attributes for us. Might be useful as backup after this season but we’d have to change our game a lot when he steps in for a quality striker.

Pleased for him, he was a run where it seemed like it just wouldn't go in. Hopefully gives him a bit of confidence and can bag a few more because as dogshit as his finishing has been the last few games, it's not like he hasn't proven he can take chances at most of his other clubs.

There is no real point in analysing his performance, Martial can’t stay fit for longer than a week so Wout will continue to play. We can all point out his numerous flaws but what’s the point… he’s having the time of his life and busting his balls every game, go on son.

I tend to agree somewhat, but on the other hand by now I really do trust ETH. Unlike we armchair pundits and managers, he picks a team, with the emphasis on TEAM. He must feel that WW contributes something or multiple things that are valuable to the team. And with one or two notable exceptions we the team are playing really good football, and winning while we’re doing it. I think the team looks happy and together, too. It’s working. I agree that with one or two additions over the summer- including a top striker- we could be serious contenders. I believe that in this manager we have at last found the man to take us there. So I for one will trust him.

‘Giving 100%’ is probably doing him a disservice. His pressing is winning turnovers for us so much higher up the pitch, and it’s having a massive impact on the side. There’s a reason why Ten Hag starts him every single game. The amount of forced errors than Betis made tonight was of a direct result of his pressing.
The only couple of things missing from his game to convince a few of the armchair fans is being more prolific in front of goal, and probably anticipating the crosses/final balls from our wingers, but that will come in time.

Feels like his hold up plays gotten better the last month. Good performance by him, and the celebration for his goal was great.

Good work rate again and glad he got his goal but he does really lack quality in the big moments. I really wish we had the Cavani of two seasons ago in this side
He's not the most talented player, but he's been unlucky for us. I'd 100% sign him, he'd be a great backup. We don't have another "big fecker upfront" option, his work rate is ridiculous.
Dreadful player the club will benefit when a striker is purchased in summer. Championship level, ETH has shown to be a brilliant manager but he needs the right players so that everything can equate to success. There's also nothing wrong with having a good squad player that can chime in with goals when necessary see the likes of Origi, Chupo-Moting etc but Wout doesn't have the quality to offer that at a club the level of United. At best his time here gets him a good move to a club that can align their ambitions with his contribution.

It might sound harsh for a short-term loan but he really is horrendous. Like he should've scored about 5 tonight. He'll continue to play by virtue of his availability and running, but there's a reason why players like Weghorst don't play for top clubs.
I actually like him, I think he busts his balls. Don't sign in, but a league cup and a chance to have Manchester United on his CV - maybe an FA cup and Europa would also be a nice parting gift for the work he's put in.

We're a much better team with him in it rather than Ronaldo so I can't complain too much. It's exciting to consider what this team could do with an actual quality striker next season. I do think adding him on a permanent move next season could make sense if he's happy being backup/rotation, he's obviously not super prolific but he clearly offers something to the side.
It's honestly very heartwarming seeing how much it means to him. Rarely these days do you see footballers who you can tell are genuinely understanding of their situation, and have full appreciation for it. You just know he's a lifelong United fan because of his half season loan and will always do podcasts and interviews as an ex United player now, always rooting for United. Can't help but be happy for him. Loved that celebration.
If he was available for a small fee and is happy with being fourth choice striker, limited squad role then I'd have no problem with him staying. Kane/Osimhen, Rashford, Martial (no one will buy him or pay his wages, might as well run down his contract) and Wout.

If we can only afford one major striker in the summer, which seems likely, I honestly wouldn't mind having him as a bench warmer for a very very cheap price and wages, if only because he has extremely good workrate, somehow gets us to to create some chances, and seems extremely passionate about the club, the fans, and his teammates, like he's living the dream being here. However that is the only role he can have, he isn't good enough for any other role here.

Happy for him...he deserved that goal...look...I think he would gladly take a bench/backup role in order to stay. Seems to really have fallen for the club.

The last striker who we brought on midseason in a similar role, Ighalo, also had the time of his life as well after being a boyhood United fan.
Even if it's often for the short term, I do enjoy but I do love seeing players that we'd never expect to see at the club come in and enjoy/soak in every second of the opportunity. The sheer jubilation and ecstacy whenever they do contribute on the pitch is part of what makes the game so beautiful to me.

Totally chuffed for Wout today. So much pure emotion from him, living the dream every time he puts on the shirt. For him to bag one in front of the Stratford End was pure magic. Good job, Wout.
I think it’s funny too that we are a better team with Wout in the side than we were with Ronaldo, but everyone loves Wout and know Ronaldo is a bell end, despite Ronaldo being one of the best players in the world. I want to enjoy watching football, I want to be entertained, and I want to feel emotion. Wout gives all that. We are winning with him in the team, keep him. His joy is contagious.

I think you're taking it a bit too seriously.
Neither Wout and De Gea are "quality", one was bought for peanuts and second is best paid goalkeepern in the world. One is very likeable guy who gives his all to get the most of the chance he's been given, the second is a timid boy on a rapid decline.
But they are both not good enough (I also made it very clear in my previous comment) so in a way they both are in the same boat and should not be part of the team next season.
