Defensively we're good, apart from a few horrific games. It's hard to win games when you've got no strikers.

I just hope he realises how important a goalkeeper who can actually play football is, and that the noise about being happy with De Gea was just man management.

A keeper, striker, and midfielder with the right quality and we can get somewhere.

Not only are City's first team majority superior to ours but look at the bench options

City
Ake, Foden, Laporte, Kalvin Philips, Mahrez, Ederson, Alvarez

United
Weghorst, McTominay, Garnacho, Maguire, Malacia, Elanga, Pellistri, Dalot

On top of that City's backup goalkeeper absolutely showed up De Gea today in terms of playing with the ball at his feet. What in gods name is ETH supposed to do with this. Having to rely on an 18 year old Garnacho to turn it around at the death speaks volumes on how badly this squad has been put together over the years

I hope this was DDG’s and Sancho’s last game for us but I doubt ETH would get rid of both in the same window

Everything mate, you bring up Ole more than anyone who wanted him here when we were winning
Eh? You asked the question:

What’s that got to do with now and Mason Mount?
In response to this post:
Didn't you and many others back Ole to the hills when he signed Dan James from the championship?
It wasn't me that brought Ole up, I was just explaining because you didn't seem to understand the post from @Di Maria's angel

A good season for him considering the circumstances. Now we have to step up and back him financially.

If we sign him, I hope you’re right, I really do, but for me I see more shades of Sancho than KDB or Bruno
Nah he's not a soft player at all. He's very effective, will replace the good of what Eriksen and Fred offer in 1 player, and is a great age. Great technique for striking a ball too which is a bonus. He's not Frenkie, and doesn't have Gundogans potential, but he's a very good and energetic midfielder who will provide a lot, and who has regularly stepped up in big games. Hope we get it sorted quickly.

He has his work cut out I think. He needs to make a big call on the goalkeeper and bring the right player into midfield. On top of that, the club will have to back him with a new striker and some decent upgrades in other areas of the pitch as well. Relying on Weghorst and McTominay to change things up is a sorry state of affairs.

I think Sancho deserves one last shot next season. He’s still relatively young (23), certainly compared to DDG who is literally at the end of his career.

Can't really blame the manager there. Despite a couple of ridiculous goals conceded and a huge mismatch in quality, we were in it until the final whistle.

He'll get shit for bringing Weghorst on, but we looked better for it and most of our good spells in the last 10 mins or so started with us finding Wout and playing from the lay-off.

City is a much better side than Brighton, but Brighton put up more of a fight. The players weren't hungry enough. With new signings next season, I expect more competitive performance with ETh. I am not going to be critical of him that much this season.
different circumstances. Brighton we’re playing for europe and city had already won the title.

Not just financially. We have to back him with proper scouting and a team that can go and negotiate transfers in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Hopefully Erik gets the backing he deserves over the summer. He’s done a great job and, as for today, I’m not sure there was much more he could have done with the options available. We need 4 big hitters to come in, including, as priority number one (even more than a CF), a goalkeeper.

Overall a good season and we pushed them at least in that last 20.

Unfortunately you just have to admit they have a better manager and better team.

We won't get close to City again next year. The gap is still too wide. We need to get top 3 again and push for 80pts minimum.

EtH did what he could with the hand he was dealt. Licha and Antony could've made a difference today. Those criticizing the subs fail to see the team we actually have. Our best chance for an equalizer came from a cross in the box aimed at our tall players. Hope he gets backed properly in the summer because our weaknesses are, as he would say, clear.

We conceded roughly 40% of our league goals in three matches this season. Absolutely bonkers stat that may never be seen again.

Replacing DDG is as important as a new Forward now.

Appreciate all he has done but we need to move on.

But a good season nevertheless and let's hope ETH can have a decent window.

Just back him. He’s great.

I do think what he does with De Gea will define his reign here, though.

I hear you but he just sounds like half the player Frenkie is so we’re making do for the sake of mount, having to change our formation and system just to accommodate him and potentially worsen others in a system that doesn’t suit to get the best out of mount. Anyway, it hasn’t happened yet but I think it’s a bad move and will ultimately cost him his job

Sancho - Rashford - Garanacho

Sancho - Weghorst - Rashford

Would have been better than starting Sancho on the LW. He started one of our weakest players in his weakest positions.

Agree, good season despit today's disappointment. Context 'n all that...

But getting worried that the ongoing sale fudge up is going to make a mess of the summer transfer window.

Done very well this season. I thought we gave a good account of ourselves in the final but just lacked that extra focus / quality at either end and DDG was wank. On to the summer and the signings really need to be spot on. Can’t take another season of de Gea giving possession away for fun and the team unable to hold up delivery and recycle possession.

Very good set up. Good game, we couldn't do more, with the talent we have on our hands. We just didn't have the luck we'd definitely need to beat the best team in the world (insert vomiting emoticon)

We're pivoting from Frenkie because Frenkie isn't available. There isn't the perfect player available, and we're switching to more of a counter pressing side with two 8's ahead of Casemiro. That suits us as a team perfectly, and suits Mount himself.

Not a chance mount coming in costs Ten Hag anything. He's a massive improvement for us, and is only 24, and should be obtainable at a decent fee which is important given our budget.

How much would we even get for Sancho at this point? Not to mention his wages.
Do you not think it’s too early to even be considering that though? Seems crazy to give up on him given how good he has been in the past.

He’s like 2.5 years younger than Rashford (which seems odd when I say that), and Rashford has had some pretty awful spells.

To be fair we also need to spend it better than the Antony outlay. Then the impact that then had on the Jan window…we don’t have unlimited funds and we sure ain’t clever with it..

If only he had been backed with a better CF in the Jan market.

Big window coming up, trust in Erik.

People said the same things about Sancho and Pogba mate, so I’ll wait for the outcome at this point

I think he has done as good as he could with the squad he had available to him , but needs to be backed big time in the summer if we are going to close the gap which is very wide right now.

And that’s the concern, this Ten Hag system is a fantasy at this point, will it even work in the PL? Whenever he’s tried it we’ve got hammered
Obviously, it's a system City and Arsenal have previously used within the PL.

Whether it works for us is the question.

His versitility as a manager isn't something I expected. Can set up to dominate and to catch teams on the break. Even after losing a cup final I go into next season with huge trust in our manager, that speaks volumes.
