Either INEOS, Qatar or someone else will buy the club. Or there is no sale.
Or the saga never ends
It's a perfect example of double standards/hypocrisy. You don't know SJR's reasons for owning a ST at Chelsea, yet you'll accept Rhyme Animal's reasons for doing the same thing. I don't care about either person's reasons for going to watch another team or calling them a 'second team'. Doesn't bother me. But this is no different than the 'gotcha' that the pro Qatar lot jumped all over @Nou_Camp99 for. Of course you and all the other Qatar shills will jump to eachother's defence because you're all weird like that, but a reasonable minded person would see this for what it is.
I’ve a season ticket to a local rivals team because my son and friend support them and it allows me to spend time with my son before he ditches me for his mates, which is soon enough. I enjoy going to the games and I’m the only one in the home end not celebrating when they score. I do try and get to my own teams games on top of that so I do get SJR having a Chelsea season ticket as there may be reasons behind it like my situation. Doesn’t mean you support the team or celebrate.

This isn't the gotcha you think it is...

pocco, it’s not a gotcha in any way, shape or form.

It was posted yesterday in the transfer forum ffs. It isn’t some nugget of hypocrisy that you seem so gleefully giddy over, and it doesn’t in any way at all affect anyone’s stance on your Brexit icon.

Jim Ratcliffe is trying to buy Utd, he might not be doing too well at it - but he’s trying. And a big part of his pro narrative is that he’s a Utd fan with unlimited means.

Yet, rather than having a Utd season ticket, he has a Chelsea one, a team he also tried (and failed) to buy just 1 year ago.

Jim Ratcliffe has unlimited means, he can go anywhere he chooses and be there very quickly. The average person does not have these means.

He chooses to watch Chelsea over Utd - I have never made such a choice with any team, since this seems important to you.

Now, pay attention, really focus on this bit…

No one is saying that Jim Ratcliffe being a Chelsea regular means that he shouldn’t buy Utd. It has only been pointed out that the part of his media narrative making him out to be a die hard Utd fan who loves the club should be questioned because he has chosen to attend Chelsea matches over Utd ones, as well as numerous things like keeping the Glazers on - something no true Utd fan would ever do in a million years.

If I was a multi billionaire trying to buy Utd and it came out that I’d actively sought out a Palace season ticket for many years, had then chosen, many times to go to Palace rather than Utd and had a year ago tried to buy Palace, I would expect people to presume I was actually a Palace fan.

Sadly for me, I’m not a multi billionaire trying to buy Utd, and sadly for you, I didn’t ever actively seek out a season ticket for Palace, or ever choose to watch them over Utd, or try to buy them - thus making me comparable to Olde Jim, and as such, you have no point.

You didn't even need to explain yourself mate. It's quite obviously not the same thing.

If you could pick anyone to be owner, outside of the two currently mooted gowlbags, who would ye pick?

I like Steve Ballmer, and he's very tall so could probably do a job centre mid. Met him briefly once and he was nice, and he also went to the trouble of using our teams bug tracking software to report a bug when using a 120 inch display. Somehow that one was missed in testing....meant to be a good basketball owner too but I'm not very familiar with that. Also, good buddies with Gates so our team would have the best vaccines going.

Worryingly very very quiet on the sale front today. Starting to expect this to carry on into the new season without a new owner and expect our summer window to be a mess as a result.

Oh boy...I was holding out hope that the guy was just joking around but he truly though he "got you" with that? Can't help but feel some people intentionally miss the point. Welcome to the 21st century version of tribalism.

It's sad that the Glazers don't care at all about disrupting next season by dragging this out to the last penny. But that's how they are. Awful awful people. It should at least lay to rest any fantasy notions that they really want to stay involved in the club. They just want the money.

I reckon all of the meaningful posts in this thread could fit on 2 pages out of the 1804. That’s some achievement to be fair.

I think the silence points to us soon reaching a conclusion. It looks like Qatar are currently in the lead with discussions started around an exclusive period. Meanwhile they are waiting to see if Ratcliffe can beat The Qatari offer - the fact he’s had to be so creative with his offer already by being flexible with the percentage of the club he is trying to purchase promising the Glazers future earnings suggests that he’s already hit his spending threshold so it seems unlikely he’s going to put another offer in that values the club even higher and tips the balance back towards him.

My prediction is early this week we will have Ratcliffe briefing his favourite journalists that he’s withdrawing from the process leaving Qatar clear to enter the exclusive period.
Don’t rule out the possibility he is trying to secure more funding to value the club higher. He surely realises the only move he can make is a higher bid for the shares he’s already offered. That’s the most likely reason why the Glazers are still taking their time going into exclusivity with Sheikh Jassim.

take from it what you will, but the daily mirror have obtained proof that sjr has a champ man 01/02 saved game where he’s in the year 2167 with chelsea.

“I tried everything in my power, even met the glazers in person multiple times, but it just wasn’t financially viable.”

Lining up the PR response.
Not sure Jim flies to America if he didn’t get word his bids in trouble

It's funny how people digest news.
Qatar make a fourth bid and it's excitement all round. Ratcliff travels for talks and it's PR.
Yeah fair enough, I did make a point of saying that’s how it seems to me.

I just think within the context of the Reuters news and the general direction it’s going in, this feels like PR to prepare his defeat.

Ratcliffe’s been very sure to craft a narrative in the English press through all this and this feels like that to me.

Several pics has him with his dad. Seems like he's the favourite son.
One of them is a picture of him sitting in a chair wearing a jumper and the OP has written “AURA”. Why is everyone so pathetic.

From the Guardian article:

"All told, the Glazers have taken out £154m in dividends and share buybacks since 2015. As the highly respected football finance blogger Swiss Ramble pointed out last year, no owners in the Premier League have taken out more money over the last decade. Indeed many have put in significant funds, including Manchester City’s (£684m), Chelsea’s pre-Todd Boehly (£516m) and Aston Villa’s (£506m). United might still be the world’s biggest cash machine, but when the team, Old Trafford and the Carrington training facility are no longer world class, it comes at a cost."

Fecking disgusting.

Yeah, we all do it though I suppose.

If the news had been Jassim was jetting into NY meet the Glazers, you can imagine how a lot would have interpreted and reacted to that news.

Omfg, its happening. The Sheikhover is about to be completed.

If you remember these people are probably 13/14 years old it starts to make sense.
