Brilliant game . All the haters come and apologize please or accept he had a good game.

When you are too quick to blame someone as flop, put half of the effort to appreciate as well.
Brilliant games? By no standard was that brilliant, decent ok.

Very good game today, I thought. I get as frustrated as most of us with him but today was excellent. The main three things Antony gets criticised for (and rightly so, IMO) are:
  • One footedness/refusal to go outside on the right
  • Decision making with the final ball
  • Hesitancy that slows down transitional plays
One each of these three he showed demonstrable improvement today. If he can deliver that consistently, which has been his problem, then he's going to have a good season, I think.
Great post.

His biggest strength is he likes a challenge. Including physical challenge.

Anyway, this game suits him. Opposition in the box, he has multiple short passing options, knows what he shloud be doing in that scenario. However, we are not going to play many games against that level of opposition.

But anyway, just to keep things positive, he had a good game.

Brilliant game is a massive overstatement. He improved in the second half and created a great chance for Bruno, with some other combinations, but overall it was still just a decent game though. Nothing to point that he's worth the 100 mil euros we paid.

He almost had a really good game and on a different day, we’d be raving about him

Prompted a really good save from their keeper and nearly laid one on for Bruno (and with his right peg!) but still conceded possession too easy and had some really poor efforts on goal.

I remain positive it’ll click for him.

MOTM for me today.
How is he MOTM when he didn't contribute to any of the goals? Rashford deserves it despite being shit for the majority of the time. He assisted the 1st, created the chance for the 2nd and created the pen for the 3rd goal. If not, then Bruno who played like a real captain today.

He was really good today. One of his best performances for us. Was a real menace for forest today.

You do know MOTM doesn’t have to contribute towards the goals you score?

Antony played better than Rashford today. Not sure if he was MOTM myself but better than Rashford.

By your logic a goal keeper or defender can never be a MOTM if they haven’t contributed towards the goals.

Rashford was really really poor today. Martial only slightly worse.

Eh? He was excellent today. Was at the ground, maybe it didn’t come across on the telly because I thought he was best player on pitch first half especially.
No, the poster was talking about people apologising for calling him shit previously.

He was okay today. We need more from him.

What now? That’s mental.

Much better in the second half. Still don't think he should be an automatic starter, but that was much more encouraging.

Best game this season, today. Hope he can get some assists though, would value that more than wonder strikes
Frustrating when he takes weird shots in positions that just need us to maintain pressure on opposition

It’s utterly pointless to keep harping on about this. Everyone knows he wasn’t worth that.

Exactly. Transfer fees have pretty much got to a point where the player’s quality will never meet the cost spent. Somethings got to give at some point. He played better today but still frustrates the living hell out of me. Our attackers have no ruthlessness. Only Rashford when he’s feeling up to it. We waste so many good chances, whether or not it’s a shot or the final pass.

He had a good game, but I still expect more and better from him. I think expectations are so low that a performance like today gets elevated a bit higher than it really should. Hopefully he can push on and just provide some assists and goals, that part of his game is lacking massively.

I’m not a big fan of his but I respect his intensity. Rashy, Sancho and Martial could really learn something from him in that regard.

He was decent but our standard for a brilliant winger performance needs to be so much higher
Considering the performance of the team as a whole I thought he was excellent. Definitely room for improvement but a really good performance for me. Knowing united though they’ll probably get rid of him due to unproven allegations. (You see what I did there?):wenger:

Mixed bag, but slightly encouraging for me. Think he generally keeps the ball well, and always tries hard. I'm not his biggest fan, far from it, but it wasn't a bad performance.

One of his better games for us is still a 5/10 performance of a really top winger, which we seemingly forgot what it's like to have.

But yeah, he was better than what we usually see from him. better dribbling, better short passing, and better decision-making. Still didn't amount to much. Forest were very happy to let him have the ball out wide, and he did better with it than what I expected.

He did put AWB and Bruno in some nice positions. Could have assisted the assist on some occasions, if that's what one calls it these days.

If we bank on this guy to transform himself into a really top winger in 1-2 season we're in for a painful watch.
He should be upgraded upon, no two ways about it.

In the meantime, while we have him and a manager in charge who likes him so much,
I wish we would see more of the decent signs he showed today.

Much improved than the first two games. He still needs to work on his crossing and the final ball. His shooting has to improve too. But you can’t fault his workrate.

He is brilliant today. If we paid 60m to get him, there will not be much criticism based on today’s performance.

No, he was indeed playing there.
toward the end of the first half, he and Rashford switched sides.
Then at the beginning of the 2nd half, they went back to Antony RW and Rash LW.

Being two goals down after 5 minutes meant that he played with an intensity that we don’t usually see. If he can bring that consistently then he’ll be a good player for us.

He was okay, but while his work rate is rarely in question, his end product still leaves a lot to be desired. That needs to improve a lot.

His contributions away from the opposition box are very important for us. He helps in progressing the ball and drawing fouls.

Today the couple of right footed crosses were a joy to watch because if he keeps this up, he would be very hard to defend against. However his shooting still needs a lot of work other than the left side bender.
