My only fear is that he only set up how he did with those players because Eriksen and McTom weren’t available. Not even joking both should be at the very back of the pecking order
We never seem to have a problem with teams that do not press us high up the pitch. When the opposition let us control the game and is not organized in their pressing, we look much better.
Enjoyed it today, but I will not read much into it. If Palace sits again that back on Saturday, it will be an easy one as well. I will just keep the intensity, energy and work rate from today. This should be the standard for every game, and if someone cannot bring that, whoever that is, should sit on the bench.

I feel that is a bit harsh on Eriksen. As an impact sub Eriksen does add some creativity. I agree on MCT.
He certainly does add creativity. It’s just difficult because it’s like playing with 10 men out of possession so there are very few instances where he fits besides chasing a game for 20 minutes or so

Also if you need to bring Eriksen on for creative reason then you have to ask what Bruno and Casemiro are doing in that scenario.
You can’t have 3 midfielders all trying to be creative, so probably 99% of the time it’s better to just stick with the main two and just add fresh legs around them.
Eriksen should be used very very sparingly this season.
I can't remember the poster, but someone on here said we looked more intense and tactically sound in pre-season when the youngsters were playing (Mainoo, Mejbri, Gore) and I think this is what we're slowly seeing. The senior players who are professional to the ground and then younger players who listen to the manager and want to impress. It makes a world of difference having players on that pitch who are ready to fight and work hard for a full match.

Would make sense. The team that Mainoo, Gore and Garnacho were part of that won the FA youth cup were known for being pressing monsters. Goes to show that if you drill it in from a young age then it'll benefit you in the long run. I think pretty much every young player will have impressed ten Hag in their own way tonight, they're the injection of freshness and energy this team has been screaming out for.
The squad all of a sudden is looking a lot more fleshed out, it's very, very rare you get so many young players knocking on the door at once. Whether it's blind luck or excellent planning, who knows? But there are interesting times ahead for this squad.

Our midfield isolates our wide players too much I’ve noticed. Too slow and whenever we play a team that has a midfielder that just speeds past ours it’s clear as day. Hopefully Bruno can get up to speed, he used to be so devastating on the break and he did it against Burnley

Im just praying Ten Hag recognizes this and adapts to what he has with the young guns. There’s too much technical quality and graft especially in those young midfielders to not use them heavily.
His handling of Sancho has made me trust him a lot more.

It’s just 2 wins in a row but they’re massive for boosts in confidence and for players returning from injury. I can guarantee that by January many will regret the negative comments they’ve directed at the manager who’s trying to get rid of the rot at the club.
Having lots of bad players in the squad helps as well here, just makes it easier for the youngsters to impress
Got everything spot on last night including the subs which was nice to see. I just hope when we bring the likes of Rashford back in we see him giving his all just like he witnessed the youngsters doing.

It was a team performance, even down to the passing in and around the area. No greed, just everyone attempting to make the right decision. A really energetic and enjoyable game.
first start for Amrabat, risky to play him 90 mins, and all of full backs are injured except for Dalot, and Varane also coming back from injury so can't be risked, it makes sense for EtH to withdraw Mount, Varane, and Amrabat as they just returned.

I loved that tbh, maybe the early goal helped but it never felt we rushed anything, even Garnacho was keeping it simple, and aside from Casemiro who tried to break the lines which I do not mind, we kept it ticking and moving from side to side constantly without forcing it, it might be boring sometimes but I didn't mind as I kinda had enough of games we do not control, and the youthful energy was awesome to see
I hope he finds that toughness again to bench whoever is not playing well or does not work hard enough. You can see, once we bench some lazy players, our team performance improves massively, there is movement, there is control.... I really hope he does not go back to starting big names for the sake of it, even if it means Bruno or Rashford stay on the bench. They either improve or dont start

Would he really? He's not really playing for the team, very selfish, poor work rate. I felt that yesterday, Garnacho brought so much more to the team overall. He attempted to dribble, lost the ball but immediately sprinted back, the fans loved that
It's weird how much this season is already mirroring last season. Starting out really rough with major questions being asked of both manager and signings, gaining a bit of momentum with a few players settling in and hopefully a string of results, ETH stamping his authority on an undisciplined player, etc. Obviously this year, ETH has had to deal with injuries and the Greenwood and Antony sagas as well.
I'm optimistic that we will see a similar improvement in form, and that we can have a slightly higher ceiling than last year given our new depth in midfield and a more competent striker.

In as much as I would love we move away from Bruno, with how the club is, where we stand now, another issue with another player would be disastrous.
But I hope ETH will have the balls to ship out Bruno in the next 18 months. We need to evolve as a team. We need stability and control in games.
Rashford is a complicated case. Local boy. Performs in big games, right age, has the main ingredient for the modern game (pace) he can be coached and used properly.
But at least people are seeing the rush and being a transition team is the main cause of our play.

The posting of a load of unfunny twitter memes is silly, but its a conversation worth having if those two come back in on saturday and we go back to looking disjointed and poor with the usual issues.
I mean they've been two of our best players last season and one scored the winning goal in our last game. The whole team hasn't started well due to injuries and just because we beat a weakened Crystal Palace team, some people acting like we can drop two of our best and senior players.
I get the sentiment, but palace were awful yesterday and with Rashford and Bruno we still would of battered them.

Agree. Rashford's goals held us together for a long period last season, and Bruno contributed massively to our success as well. It also completely misses the point that we played against a very poor side, and we had Amrabat in the side, which improved us a lot. It's clearly coming from people with an agenda.
That being said, of course Rashford and Bruno can improve. Rashford needs to improve his decision making, and Bruno needs to decrease his number of desperation Hollywood balls. But I expect they will both start on Saturday, and we will win comfortably again.
Oh definitly agree with this, Rashford's decision making at the end has been poor and he needs to improve on that. Hopefully the midfield being stronger will help.
Even maguire was a club captain, so being a MAN United captain is not a God given acceptance of being world class.

In as much as it's a 'Twitter silly meme' as another poster call it, the easiest way to change our play is not sacking ETH or signing another 200m players, it's just changing how we play and structure of the team.
How we play is Bruno Rashford DNA. Dropping Bruno eliminates rushing things, forcing things, Hollywood passes, lose passes, having inexistent midfield.
We will beat around the bush, but eventually it will come to pass, Bruno is one major problem to why we can't be a possession team.
We have supported United before Bruno, have supported United with Bruno and we will continue supporting United after Bruno leaves. He's just one player to over 500 players I have seen play for United as a supporter.
But the most important thing, is the team needs to evolve into a modern team capable of winning league titles and UCL. Whichever way it's achieved I'm 100% supportive.
And my opinion in how to achieve this, is through moving away from being a transition team. Others will say change of manager, change of DoF, change of owners, pouring another 300m for new players etc..

Your post makes zero sense, harping on about DNA, Where did I say being club captain makes you world class? He's been one of our best players for a while now. So you think dropping two of our best and senior players including our club captain will make us a better team just because we managed to beat a weakened Crystal Palace team and will suddenly make us evolve into a team winning league titles and the UCL? How do you plan on replacing these players if you don't want to spend any money? The fact is the managers values the players and will use their talents.
