 I love how you guys can't accept the Bundesliga is an inferior league.
You've literally said the Bundesliga were as bad as the Dutch league without Bayern and I gave you proof that this isn't the case. How about you at least acknowledge that?

But we do say that all the time? We however don't think "worse than the PL" is the same as "shite".
I'm not referring to you, you've been quite balanced throughout, but the Bayern lads don't want to hear it because it undermines their wins. They think I'm being unreasonable when even the DFL were talking about the possibility of reforming the league last year so Bayern don't keep winning it.

That’s as far back as UEFA judge leagues based on qualification for the CL. Germany are currently 4th based on the last 5 years (thanks only to Bayern Munich). The principal poster tried to suggest the league was good because Bayern had performed well in the CL in their last 5 games as if that was some measure of how good the German league is.
Didn't Dortmund just beat Newcastle home and away too?

You all had this discussion 538 times. Everyone knows the arguments. Can we just talk about Harry Kane without this pissing contest? Please? Pretty please?

Feck me sideways, I wondered what he had done that this was so busy.

Nothing, just random wailing about leagues.

My 2p, loved Buli in the early 80s. It has never been the same really.

Only just noticed that he's already got more than the Bundesliga top scorer(s) from last season.

This is going in circles. Let's all just agree the Bundesliga is bad except for Bayern and the EPL is good except for Manchester United

Anyway….

Back to Harry Kane, I think he gives Bayern Munich that cutting edge again that has been lacking in recent years. I would put them as one of the favourites for the Champions League, behind City and maybe Real Madrid.

Would definitely have them above Real, La Liga has just as many issues league quality wise as the BL has been mocked for and their CL group is dross (you guys know how bad Union are).

Kane surrounded by pace is such a terrifying combination because of how much he offers when he drops in.

all very well and good saying how good kane’s been for bayern compared to spurs, but has anyone compared the merits and strengths of both leagues?

Yeah well thats only possible because Dortmund can rest all their good players on the weekend in the german turd league while Newcastle faces only the toughest opponents in the Premier Competitive™️ league.

yep. and uefa are aware on the difference in quality on the leagues so the newcastle players were only allowed to take half the number of breaths as the dortmund team, to try and make it a fair contest.

Good to see UEFA doing something useful for once.

Bayern today reminds of me Man Utd in 90s under Fergie. Win shit loads of league titles and cups. But didn’t do enough in Europe to merit a dynasty like team like Real Madrid of 60s, Ajax of 70s, AC Milan of early 90s and Madrid of 2010s.

Last season was a huge outlier. I think historically the top scorer is most years close to 30 from either side - don't shoot me if i'm wrong i didn't look anything up.

No one ever said that the Bundesliga was as competitive as the Premier League, it's just YOUR provocative poor takes that created a discussion. You've said that the Bundesliga was shte and not better than the Dutch League which are just objectively poor and stupid takes. There'd be no discussion without you.

It's not a bad league domestically just not competitive internationally. Ajax had a good run until they got basically the entire squad bought. The best Dutch players don't play in he Dutch Leauge.

i’m just world weary, but i guess it’s just the way of the world. the dog bites the cat, the cat bites the mouse, just as the english attack the germans and the germans attack the dutch. everyone is kicking downwards.

Kane isn't someone like Benzema. When the going gets tough and it's a really big match, just like the Euro game England vs France, he misses the decisive penalty. He doesn't have it in him to panenka it in.

We'll see how he does against the big boys in the knockout stages. But i wouldn't hold my breath if he continues to be underwhelming just like when he was at Tottenham.

Hype is outrageous...

He’s scored at least 20 goals a season for ten years in a row. I don’t see how he’s just hype, he’s as proven a goalscorer as you’ll find in world football.

I mean... come on. I agree his big game record is a bit of an issue, but he's been incredibly consistent for like 10 years now. Furthermore, playing in a small time mentality club like Tottenham might also go someway to explain that aspect - moving to one of the big boys might just be what sparks a change and creates a winner's mentality for him.

But even without that, he's a fecking amazing player.

But how can he be an amazing player when he doesn't even panenka penalties?

People said the same thing about Lewandowski, or even Robben. Surprise surprise, winning big matches is hard. Lots of world class players miss important shots.

Spurs have been underwhelming for years and years its a running joke if anything Kane made them more credible than they have been in 30 years or more

Unfortunately for Kane though they've both won things in multiple leagues and for multiple teams and shown up in decisive games and moments and/or dominated top competitions.

While that is due to Kane being part of a flimsy Spurs/England side is fair enough, his semi-final/final record thus far is weak and the reason it is especially exposed is due to the losses rather than wins. If Spurs/England had won competitions where he didn't show up in a final then it probably wouldn't be as big of a thing as it is but that's just how it is. I do think with Bayern he will rectify that though and win a CL.

since 2014-15 his goals per season have been:

29, 28, 35, 41, 24, 24, 28, 25, 32.

That’s nine seasons in a row of at least 24 goals a season. Which is an average of 30 goals per season. Playing for Spurs in arguably the most competitive league in the world.

His goal plus assist is even better:

34, 30, 40, 45, 30, 26, 44, 35, 37.

That’s an average of 36 G+A per season. Again, at Spurs.

This season at Bayern he has 21 goals in 15 games. And 28 G+A in 15 games. Meaning he is nearly averaging two goals scored or created per match.

All time top scorer for England with 61 goals in 87 matches, plus 15 assists. Meaning a G+A of 76 in 87 for the national team. Surpassing Rooney’s 53 goals in 120 apps or Charlton’s 49 in 106. All time top scorer for Spurs. Fastest player ever to reach 20 UCL goals (24 apps). Only England player to ever score in every major tournament qualifying game for a single tournament. Top scorer at 2018 World Cup.

But despite scoring a penalty earlier in that same game, I agree, he missed that second penalty against France. So the hype is just nonsense. Nothing player. Much like that time I wrote off Franco Baresi and Roberto Baggio’s careers after they missed those penalties in 94. Losers.
