I don't get the significance of it been at a golf course, why would it be viable for United to build a training ground there?
Because no one else wastes so much prime property to walk around chugging a bag of rods so that they could finally put a ball in a hole, after multiple failed attempts.

Where should we build it? Native American burial ground?
Maybe, or a United supporting farmer might fancy renting/selling us a bit of land.

Diversification is the only way most of them can make it pay nowadays anyway, and hosting the new United training ground would take this to another level.

Heard from a reliable source a while back that Salford Red Devils (Rugby League side for those that dont know) had been talking with the club. Suggestion of some kind of Under 23/academy/women's team stadium being built at Carrington that would be used by Salford as their new home ground.

General training would then be based elsewhere in a new "state of the art" facility.

Only opposition was actually from Ten Hag.

This was all pre Ratcliffe so who knows if any of that plan (assuming any elements of it are true) come to fruition.
Interesting, why would the manager have any say in a long-term facilities planning decision?

I would have preferred him to be United CEO only. Gill is too old, we need fresh blood to move on now
Has been suggested it could be Colette Roche (yes I know internal appointment) but at least she will be reporting to experienced person

Those rods have been precisionly engineered to get that ball in the hole in the quickest way possible. We'd never attract the likes of Bale with a pathetic pitch and putt setup.

Perhaps the idea is to procure someone who will focus exclusively on Manchester United, with Blanc readily available in a sounding board capacity as the octopuslike Chief Executive of INEOS's sports portfolio.

Maybe we will see the duplication of Ratcliffe's apparent model at Nice — through sheer happenstance or intentional design, they have appointed a lot of relatively young people in all branches of the club (unless the bottom falls out or they are poached by other organizations, at least some of these appointments will ensure long-term continuity at an institutional level (irrespective of who the Head Coach is)).
P.S. Speaking of David Gill and the need for young blood, Oliver quit professional football at age 20 to prioritize his academic career (and currently works at KKR & Co., and previously worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte and Rothschild & Co.)
Oliver Gill (London) joined KKR in 2020 and is a Director in Credit, focusing on restructuring across the firm’s Credit strategies in Europe. Prior to joining KKR, Mr. Gill was part of the restructuring team at Rothschild & Co., where he provided corporate finance advice to shareholders, creditors and boards of distressed companies. Previously, he worked in the global restructuring group at the Royal Bank of Scotland. Mr. Gill holds a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics from Durham University.

Return of the prodigal son, as someone who primarily handles specific department(s), and subsequently moves up the commercial and operational food chain? For reference, David was initially appointed as a finance director at United to replace Leeds-bound Robin Launders, and moved up the food chain as deputy Chief Executive, Group Managing Director, and finally Chief Executive to replace Chelsea-bound Peter Kenyon.

They might be young but they are very experienced as well. Bocquet held the position of CEO at FC Lorient between 2015 and 2020, after a four-year stint at strategy consultancy McKinsey & Company from 2011 to 2015. Ghisolfi was sporting director at Lens since 2019. Kul had already covered the role at 3 other clubs prior to joining Nice FC.SJR tried to hire Mitchell as well but he turned them down for Monaco. Let's not forget that Nice are a relatively small club. You won't be able to attract the best of the best there. Yet these people are far more experienced then the likes of Arnold, Murtough, Woodward and Fletcher when they got their CEO/DOF/TD roles at United.

In my opinion, INEOS had learnt a huge lesson last year and that was to go for the very best staff. That's evident with their pursue for Ashworth which will cost the club an arm and a leg simply to snatch him out of the Saudis. Unless the Glazers put a spanner in the works then I can see them using that same tactic for all other roles.

And it will be mostly buy British
this is a load of bollocks, obviously, but even if it was true, you’d think it was 1995 and we were producing shite. British talent, specifically English are comfortably some of the best in the world right now, there’s so much quality coming through at the moment.

It's weird how much anti-English sentiment people have for supporters of an English club.

What's the deal with Salford? AJ Bell Stadium not up to scratch or what?

Yep. Picking up the best local and national talent is an absolute must for the club.

Good?

Our biggest mistake the last five years has been not landing Kane, Bellingham and Rice. That the supposed biggest club in England doesn't have any of the top English players is quite disgraceful.
