He struggled in the first half. He had a couple of chances to get away on the counter, but struggled to get past their fullback due to a couple of poor touches. His dribbling was a little off, and he was out-muscled a few times. Then he came back a different player in the second half. He started winning foot races against the same fullback. He scored the goal, which looked like it lifted a rather huge weight off his shoulders. He became more involved in the play. Then of course he scored a second goal as well.
This suggests to me that he has the mentality. It's so easy for a player when you start to struggle that you continue to be dominated. Instead, he changed his game, upped his intensity and kept plugging away.
He's more creative and more unpredictable playing on the right. His he has a really good left foot, and his right foot for crossing is really rather good, if not Beckham-esque, just yet. When on song, his low centre of gravity, good acceleration and high agility makes him a proper nuisance for any defender. Playing on the left, trying to accelerate into a congested area makes it much more difficult.
