We look better with him on the right and it removes that itch for him to always cut onto his right foot and shoot.
I’m guessing a bit, but I would assume that the ideal game plan of having opposite footed wings (rightie on the LW and vice versa) is for having two backs who can overlap and two wings who can cut in to shoot, cross or play it through to the full back. That looks ineffectual when the FB aren’t getting into those runs early enough, and even that is not just on them, but a team problem depending on the back four having the confidence and wherewithall to move up quick enough.
Having wingers set up to cross is a whole different organization, and understandable that a manager will be careful with switching up too much when the team aren’t collectively assured af Plan A even. However, with the collective hesitation we are seeing, it makes the wingers look worse.
Equally, for the 2-2 goal, Antony is actually quicker in tracking back than Garnacho, but Dalot switching off his positioning as opposed to Shaw, makes Antony look worse defending. These things are very relational.
