Works hard, never lets his head drop and refuses to be intimidated/kicked out of games. He'll go through ups and downs but there's so much to be excited about with him. One of those that gets you out of your seat.

Just another comfy & kino performance.

Last time Mainoo stole the show, this time it's all Garna-show.

Very good second half, 2 goals and a big chance created for Rashford. But first half was poor somehow

His move to the right and general improvement in performance has been the biggest factor in our recent increased goalscoring threat.

We spent roughly 150m on two RW players, Sancho and Antony, only to see them drop turds match after match an academy player blows them out of the water.

Been saying for weeks he looks like he enjoys playing out on the right hand side. Brilliant today.

Pleased with how productive he has been for a young player. Not always consistent across matches but overall output does show consistency which is very promising at this stage. Puts Antony to absolute shame.

Also pleasing he can play on the right which very few of our left side orientated players have ever shown an ability to do. To me Rashford, Sancho, Antony, Bruno - whoever we have shunted out there have never really been convincing or comfortable for various reasons. He can still be effective with his technical ability and one v one ability.

Clearly we need to promote our academy scouts to first team scouts (if they're even different people)

He's much better on the right I think ... When he's on the left he's always tempted to cut inside, but on the other side he becomes far more unpredictable with which way he'll go.

I thought he did it because Ronaldo did it while at Madrid.
Same

I can't imagine Garnacho would be too bothered by how a West Ham player celebrated a goal. Who would give a shit about that?

It's another Ronaldo reference.

Yeah this, especially after Di Maria role him to stop doing Ronaldo celebrations. Why would he remember kudus??

The only way that'd make sense is if they planned it beforehand, because someone did it recently to Maddison and it caused a stir on socials

It wouldn't surprise me if he did that for a bit of banter towards Kudus. He promised to do a celebration for that ispeedz guy and look at his tattoos .

I thought he had a poor first half but I love his enthusiasm and persistence - he’s always in the game.

The best thing about Garnacho playing on the right is it forces him to think about his game. He can't just cut inside and look to shoot. It forces him to properly examine his options and choose what works best for the team, rather than just looking for goal. We need to keep him in that position. Its working.

Id say he just enjoys being in the the team and starting. If you had put Rashford on the right at the start he’d have done anything to make the position his own. As Fergie always said trust in the youth, they’ll always surprise you.

Another good performance.

Still a bit light and gets pushed off the ball a little too easily at times, but he's young and still a bit raw. But you have to love his enthusiasm to just keep going and keep trying to play.

I'm still not fully convinced he will be a world class player, less compared to Hojlund and Mainoo, but certainly will be a good player and one who should start every game for us right now.

He's progressed brilliantly this season, and whether it was by chance or design, we have definitely found our long term right winger. Really hope we don't shoehorn him on the left through some inverted winger stubbornness, the right suits him and us perfectly. He's also so agile and his turns and acceleration are great that he'll always make that yard of space for himself. He's not that rapid when running longer distances but the short bursts are what sets him apart. Also, he's very decent with his left when striking the ball, far better at cutting in on his left to shoot than finessing a cross with his left and that works having him on the right flank.

What 19 year olds are better than him in world football, how can you not be convinced when he's already doing the business, with obviously inconsistencies as he's nowhere near full developed.

Don’t want him anywhere near it. Unnecessary pressure, it’s cursed!
Eh, he's made it public he wants the 7 (this was prior to Mount getting it) - he was liking tweets saying he should be 7.

The last players that had it - Cavani and Ronaldo aside- were busts, so it's not like the expectations are incredibly high. Also, he has the self-belief and arrogance necessary to shoulder it - the guy is constantly trolling other players/teams (Pedro/Barca, Kudus today).

Valid point , lack of viable options means we have had to throw him in so young and make demands of him to be one of the main players means expectations can be at times be unrealistically high at times.

But there are no many 19 old's in world football at his level right now. If he keeps developing and gets physically stronger we will have a very serious player on our hands.

He has a fantastic attitude, mentality and work ethic of what we've seen so far. However, I don't think he has quite has the 'base' technique, decision making and perhaps even physicality to be considered for potential 'world class' right now. It's all opinions of course but as an example, Sane at 19/20 years old had the fundamental qualities for that potential. It's taken him a bit of time to get there with big injuries not helping but it was evident from the start imo.

Garnacho is too 'messy' in a lot of his actions, a bit too much kick, run and industry rather than guile or finesse; I'm not talking about simply aesthetics. It's perhaps a harsh take of course but having said that he does remind me of a young Ronaldo, so who knows.

I will say and I've said it in this thread a few times, every time I've doubted his quality, he produces some decisive moment the next game or after. For his age and experience, as you guys say, what he's doing is fairly unprecedented.

Easily our most dangerous player on the counter and in transitions. We’ve become good at counters again because of him

I get what you're saying, it does feel like that at times and for me that's actually the best thing about him, his room for improvement is still so huge but he's already delivering consistently.

Looking over my shoulder.
He struggled in the first half. He had a couple of chances to get away on the counter, but struggled to get past their fullback due to a couple of poor touches. His dribbling was a little off, and he was out-muscled a few times. Then he came back a different player in the second half. He started winning foot races against the same fullback. He scored the goal, which looked like it lifted a rather huge weight off his shoulders. He became more involved in the play. Then of course he scored a second goal as well.

This suggests to me that he has the mentality. It's so easy for a player when you start to struggle that you continue to be dominated. Instead, he changed his game, upped his intensity and kept plugging away.

He's more creative and more unpredictable playing on the right. His he has a really good left foot, and his right foot for crossing is really rather good, if not Beckham-esque, just yet. When on song, his low centre of gravity, good acceleration and high agility makes him a proper nuisance for any defender. Playing on the left, trying to accelerate into a congested area makes it much more difficult.

The Ronaldo comparison, I agree that there are similarities in their mentality and attitude. However, Ronaldo was much more of a dribbler and was quite a bit faster than Garnacho, as well as stronger, even at 19. Garnacho, on the other hand, has a lower centre of gravity and seems more agile. Physically, they are quite different. What I hope Garnacho does is work as hard as Ronaldo and improve his physical attributes like Ronaldo did - acceleration and top speed can both be improved considerably from the level he's at - still fast, but he can improve. Strength wise, he needs to improve to show a world class level in the PL - I don't want him to bulk up, but core strength and a little bit of a nasty edge will suffice.

I agree that he's a little messy - his technique is inconsistent. He often slips, which isn't a good sign. He has a low centre of gravity and great agility, but it's like he sometimes struggle to use these to full effect and dribble at the same time. I think he needs to refine this .

Cavani definitely wasn't a bust wearing no 7, single-handedly brought us into Europa League final and scored 18 goals in 30 something matches. Pretty good return.
