He won't be going anywhere soon, unless he's chasing a big Saudi pay day?

Madrid don't need him, Barcelona are skint, he doesn't strike me as an Atletico player either so where would he realistically go?

Feels like it depends on what happens with Toni Kroos - he'd be a natural replacement at Madrid if Kroos decides to retire.

He's just a younger fitter Herrera isn't he
I would take a younger, fitter Herrera here any day of the week. We will need a player of similar profile come the new season to compete and rotate with Mainoo and Cas

Not sure about this. Mudryk more explosive but generally braindead. Antony is blunt as a plastic spoon but is much more hard working and better in his link up play.
Yeah basically all Mudryk has shown is that he's fast. The one thing you basically just get automatically as a person and don't have to work on.

Lampard had people unironically thinking he was shit.

It's really going to be groundhog day when some of our "crap" players get adequately coached again.

Shame another youth player binned.

Chelsea have such a poor record.

I never watch him and think...wow...which I suppose for the type of player he is, is fairly normal, but for that fee, you expect it.

The likes of Jorginho, Rüdiger etc. also looked terribly out of place in the same Lampard team but were some of the most important key pieces in us winning the CL just a few months later.

Good players coached by terrible managers and/or playing in a role that doesn't suit them will often make them look like a fraction of the player they actually are. Huh, who knew?

He's the type of player I think would get an undue amount of credit playing for a really good team just by virtue of playing for a really good team, like Jorginho when he somehow finished 3rd in the Balon D'Or because he happened to be part of two very good teams. Good player but people are almost willing him to be better than he is.

Not recognising his value predominantly.
Promoted into a title winning squad, put into the first team lineup almost straight away, persisted with through 2 years of erratic inconsistency to come out the other side as one of our best players under Tuchel, but ok.

Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
in part because you didn’t treat him properly though. You criminally mismanage your youth players.
"Didn't treat him properly"? Give over. He played a ton, the club was always supportive of his mental health issues and we offered him a shit load to stay (which he was happy to agree to until Barca swooped in).

There are plenty of Chelsea kids who didn't get a fair crack of the whip but Christensen ain't one of them.

Didn’t Tuchel call him out publicly over not signing the deal in good time to apply pressure? Then say he’d pulled out of the Cup final team?

Seems he was treated like a scape goat and vilified. The way the club manages it’s young players is notoriously poor and AC said himself things were really tough for him at the end.

no-one in particular
Wasn‘t Christensen (and Rüdiger) at least partly departing because the club couldn‘t renew their contracts because of the sanctions? (Meanwhile being approached by the two heavy hitters from spain)

I agree he's a player that flatters to deceive but also he gets blamed for wider team failings. I always liked him at Chelsea, but my friends who are Chavski fans were glad to see him go. He was excellent for the Arsenal against Liverpool. Breaks things up and keeps ball ticking over.

If they were interested, Madrid's offer would be significantly lower than what you paid and probably rejected.

They have the best academy in the country for the last 10 years. No one else comes close to the amount of quality players they've pumped out. Shame for them that they have been poorly managed and have let a lot of them go/flounder under bad managers.
They have a good academy but not sure It’s the best or has been the best.

They are awful at integrating young players in my opinion.

I would say it has. I think some academies have produced a better player (in the singular), Greenwood, Foden, Saka, arguably TAA etc, but they have produced a very large amount of PL level and top 4 level players that no one else has.

Is he taking similar amounts of credit for Barca conceding almost 50 goals so far this season? Clean sheets are a team stat.

Yeah. undervalued and mistreated. Handled poorly by the club. Common theme.
It’s been explained to you many times before, so keep spinning this narrative must mean you have some kind of agenda. It’s the only explanation :)

That's the problem across Europe in general isn't it. Can't flog unwanted cast offs to European clubs anymore as most don't have money. It'll be loan deals with obligations to buy that never happen

All of this happened when he was well past youth age.

You may aswell use the Rafa/Terry thing as "proof" while you're at it

Enzo isn’t an unwanted castoff.

I'm not sure, I think out of the oppo fans our Chelsea ones are quite good including both @duffer and @WeePat who disagree with you.
I’m not objective because I don’t agree with him. I’ve had this Chelsea academy argument with him many times before. It always ends exactly the same way. And then we do it all over again in a few months.

I think there are more people that would agree with both of your opinions on the academy than what @TheReligion thinks though. You and City have the best academy.

*in your opinion

Granted @WeePat offers good discussion I still remain mystified why @duffer gets this reputation from. It may have been true in the past but these days they simply defend anything Chelsea related and throw the odd shade on United here and there with some WUMMery.

(Sorry Duffer but it’s true!)
