Just as much as he's probably not the biggest prick in the world for wanting to fulfill his desire to play in Spain, he’s not the messiah as some of the posters on here would have you believe.

Take for instance the poster who keeps blaming our waning praise for Ronaldo after last summers near move to Real and his increasing theatrics as the reason behind his move. Brilliant!

Also notice the threads calling him a LEGEND! Utter nonsense.
In order to be a legend in my book you need to pass certain standards, first of which would be that you have to act like a man if you are one. Flailing like a girl and throwing tantrums like a 5 year old, for losing tackles isn’t manly.

I’ve also noticed a splinter cell group that takes the cake with their insistence to hold out the hope that he’s going to decide that now that he gets the move he requested, he’s suddenly going to get cold feet at the alter and decide to stay. This group is will be particularly fun to watch in the coming days as the pen is put to paper and the finality of it hits home. Watch as several of these types become increasingly more hostile towards “Our Boy” Ronaldo once he official becomes Real’s Boy.

There is some awesome theater going on in the Cafe and I'm frankly loving every minute of it.

The ones who think this is all part of a plan to prove his loyalty where he rejects personal terms are beyond mental help at this point.

I'm sure Madrid fans are happy - I don't blame them.
A lot of them are a bit nervous actually.

How does all of this Playstation stuff work especially with no defense?

And will Ronaldo only get worse in his theatrics if things don't go well for him?

The good news is he will get the free kicks and such he wants.

I wont start bad mouthing the guy but lets be honest he tried to shit on United which is a no no. He was an awesome player but the way he treated us last summer and even during this has been with contempt and disdain. It was perfectly summed up by his reaction to Fergie against Wigan. It was totally rude, and shocked me esp as I come from a culture where if some one elder than you says something you don't talk back or run your mouth.\
It's a massive loss but we will cope and survive. Alot of people are in the mindframe who will replace him but he cant be replaced, Im guessing we will rebuild rather than replace.
So let the rebuilding commence

Why Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid dream will be a nightmare
By Brian Reade 13/06/2009

It's a marriage made in the tackiest Las Vegasthemed chapel in Hell.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Florentino Perez. Two men, one philosophy. That God created the world so it could revolve around their outrageously bloated egos. And those who still have a smattering of love for football will pray the marriage ends in tears.

Prayers that may well be answered.

There's no doubting Ronaldo's match-winning genius or the lengths to which Perez will go to steal the biggest names in world football. But there are huge doubts about whether the Galactico system is anything more than a discredited ideology that's way past its bribe-by date.

Perez got lucky first time around with Zidane, Figo, and Ronaldo. When he tried to replace that axis with the likes of David Beckham, Michael Owen and Robinho, he failed miserably. Hence his resignation.

His mistakes were so glaring you questioned whether he was a football man at all. Or just a show man.

He sacked twice Champions Leaguewinning coach Vicente del Bosque because he failed to win a third one. Carlos Queiroz replaced him and was ordered to sell Claude Makelele after he asked for parity with the highest-earners.

This is what Perez said of the best defensive midfield player in the world at the time: "We will not miss Makelele. His technique is average, he lacks the speed and skill to take the ball past opponents, and 90 per cent of his distribution either goes backwards or sideways."

When given the choice between Beckham or Ronaldinho he opted for the face that could launch a thousand shirts. As one of Perez's bag-carriers said: "Ronaldinho is so ugly he'd sink you as a brand. Between him and Beckham, I'd go for Beckham a hundred times." Yeah, me too.

Unlike Herbert Chapman or Rinus Michels, Perez didn't fashion a revolutionary style of football from the talent at his disposal. He simply amassed a huge overdraft and seduced the best players available into his travelling circus. Traditional skills like management, defending, bonding, trust and patience were disposed of. The six coaches he went through had no say in transfers and his Galacticos had no say in opting out of any games or punishing global tours.

Audi, Coca-Cola and adidas, the sponsors now funding the current cash-fest, will demand the same of Kaka, Ronaldo & Co. And it will drain the life out of them. Cut through the hype and Ronaldo has joined a club with no defence, a new manager who was moderately successful at Villarreal but is now a dictator's puppet, an entire squad not knowing whether they're being moved on and superstars thrown together on marketing grounds.

In the business end of last season Real were thrashed 6-2 by Barcelona and 4-0 by Liverpool because their defence was like a sieve with nothing in front of it but a colander.

Perez's solution to close the gap on the most brilliant Barcelona squad ever assembled? Buy Kaka and Ronaldo and go for Villa, Silva and Alonso. Spot the defender.

When last elected president in 2000 Perez inherited a Champions League-winning side and built his all-conquering Galacticos over a three-year period. This time he promises to overtake Barcelona in one season. Can you see it? Me neither.

What I can see on the final game of next season are the white hankies being waved and the noses being held, as the latest Perez Globetrotters traipse off the Bernabeu pitch having comfortably lost La Liga to Barcelona.

The same Barcelona who, the following week, will take on an English side in the Champions League Final. In the Bernabeu.

On the day of the match, Perez will be in hiding from the world and its debt-collectors. And El Winker will be sulking on a Californian beach, diving off rocks into the arms of Lindsay Lohan. His agent saying all is not well with his head.

Well they can't stop you dreaming can they?

Does anyone have a video were he runs off the pitch without warning mid game, throws the kit mans shirt out of his hand, bollocks his team mates for not being as good as him, dives and feigns injury, questions Sir Alex Fergusons tactics, strops on the pitch and tells us he's staying even though he's had a deal in place to leave for a year?

He was a great player for us. Let's leave it at that. . .and move on.

He was no doubt, but why is he leaving me with a sour taste in my mouth it feels more like a nasty divorce than an amicable parting of the ways.

Exactly the type of person I'm thinking about.

People who assume that other posters "like" or "dislike" players. What the feck is all that about? Why can't people get theire head around United fans who couldn't give a shit about individuals and only "like" the club.

I don't like or dislike any members of our squad. I think some of them attract undue criticism, others get their overall contribution over-rated. Some make me proud watching them play, others make me cringe (thankfully the former happens much more often than the later).

None of them are bigger than the club and I'll be supporting United long after all of them have hung up their boots. Chances are the same can't be said for a proportion of the members of redcafe. Oh well. No great loss.
I feel sorry for you. Myself, I like most of our players.

And yet you have the nerve to question my grievance at the boy leaving.

You are the single biggest fecking hypocrite on this forum and its about time you pulled your head out of your ass and stop pretending to not being as disappointed as everybody else.

He sure was Spoony

But all the rest of that came with it, and that's why plenty of us aren't sad he's gone

Just adding a bit of balance, that's all

Look, we didn't do too badly out of it did we? £70m profit, three PL titles and two CL finals iduring his time here. And he more than played his part in those three seasons. Yes, he was a narcissistic cnut but that's life - you can't expect players to love the club in the way we do nor can you control the way they act. Yes, it's a shame when a player would rather play elsewhere - I think that's what really hurts deep down. Football is tribal afterall.

But I can't wait for next season. No more of the Ronaldo circus and no more 'God only knows' type bullshit, just us getting back on the pitch and doing the business.

I appreciate this is a tough time for you, given just how far up his arse you've been these last few years. Time to clamber out and wash the shit stains off

What about George Best drinking himself into a stupor, Roy Keane being an absolute cnut of a man to everyone around him or Cantona kicking a fan in the chest?

Every one of our great players had flaws, but we disregard them to remember the good times. The benefit of hindsight, perhaps. Nonetheless, he was a great player - we should be grateful for that and the memories he's left us with.

If you weren't such an egotistical moron, you'd actually read what i've been saying. Instead you read what the feck you want, without even noticing that i've continually said, that the chances of him staying are near as close to fecking zero as you like.

So grow the feck up and stop trying to degrade everybody else because your too insecure to let fecking go.

He's right though. Best, Keane and Eric were just as big a cnuts as Ronaldo, if not bigger. Certainly Keane was.

Ronaldo never purposely broke the leg of an opposition player.

Only a fool thinks all their football idols are perfect, and whiter than white

The difference I'd suggest is that much of Ronaldo's faults have come at the expense of his clubs supporters. He fecked us around, and that's why such a large portion of us don't hold him in any particularly great esteem, despite how good he's been for us

 You're the only person I've seen that suggested there was even a chance of him staying. Utterly delusional

What are you on about too insecure to let go?!?! I've let go, you're the one still pining and desperately clinging to the hope he might yet stay!

I wonder if he'll come out one more time and say he's staying, just before he signs for Madrid. Just for old times sake like

I wasn't calling him a cnut, I was just pointing out that if Ronaldo can be called a cnut for doing what he did, Best can aswell. The fact that Best is the greatest talent to ever play for us is irrelivant here, as Ronaldo was probably the greatest talent since Best, and not all that far behind him (but I don't want to get into that).

But I don't think Ronaldo was whiter then white. Like Michael Schumacher, they had flaws 'serious ones at that' but it gives them character. I still like Ronaldo, but I will never support him while he wears a Madrid shirt. The club stands for everything I hate and more. Selfless low life fecking scum whom lack the balls to make their own talent, and instead, build this "empire" that removes the greatest footballers in the world from their homes, and turns them in to shit, only used to sell fecking shirts ffs.

I respect your opinion on certain things, but you constant reminding of how much a tit he is, is getting rather old. Right now we should be celebrating what he has done with and for us. When he leaves we can slag him, but at this current moment in time, he is a Manchester United player, and deserves atleast in some shape of form a touch of respect.

A prick he may be, but he owes Manchester United and we owe him so much for the past 6 years.
