I'll be pleasantly surprised but think it'll be Rashford as striker. When the two start it usually is Rashford up top with Martial on the wing.

Probably being wrapped in cotton wool for the final.
    Thanks mate.

Was pretty excited at a potential lineup yesterday but looking at that... Feck. We'll win but Darmian, Rojo, Fellaini, Mata... hopeless. Or add in Smalling on the ball, the pace of Matic, martial probably on the left and Rashford doing nothing really as the striker... Yay.

Hoping at least Martial is striker and Rashford the winger, both would do better in that scenario IMO.

Once again Smalling starts - alongside a different partner, but they will tell you he's the one that is going to be sold. You just know that even if we sign both Ramos and Pique, Smalling will probably still be first choice.

Well, Lukaku's injury is a blessing in disguise according to some as apparently Rashford is already world class and must be our main ST so I am confident he will carry us to the win today.

Matic, Fellaini, Pogba and Mata .....our pace is going to kill 'em! Unleash the whirlwind.

Smalling scores goals now and then. Been decent in recent weeks as well.

The blessing in disguise is the potential to give a chance to Martial/Rashford/Sanchez to get some real form going, and use Martial as a striker or both Martial and Rashford as a strike partnerships and try new things out. We can't just use Lukaku every minute of every game, we have to rotate now and then, at least for the competition but also to keep everyone fresh and happy. Doesn't hurt having options.

He isn't going to be used as a striker, Rashford is, surely? I image Martials poor off the ball movement will keep him on the wing.

I don’t get Mourinho. He makes a big thing at the awards ceremony about Mctominay and then chooses a player over him that disrespected the club with his comments this week.

feck Fellaini. Give the minutes to the young lad.

Sad to see Marouane Fellaini start to be honest. Thought he's acted like a total prick this week.

Fellaini, Matic and Pobga, quite like the sound of that to be fair. We won't be getting bullied in midfield at least.

Really hope one of Martial or Rashford (preferably both) have a stormer tonight. Get the feeling these lads are playing for their future, Rashford to a lesser extent though.

Well deserved start for him. We need to show him how much important he is for the team and how much we want him to sign that offer.

Martials movement is fine as a striker tbf. It's different. Rashford as a striker in a front 2 could do something but as a lone striker he's shown time and time again how ineffective he is. Now and then he'll pop up with a goal but over the course of the game he's invisible. He just makes runs in behind constantly but you need way more then that. Martial offers the hold up play and link up play and dropping deep to get on the ball and turn defenders. Rashford doesn't do that as a striker.

Having Martial in the middle and rashford wide could have him drop deep and get on the ball and link up while Rashford stretches the pitch and makes runs in behind from there. Works much better then having your striker way up while the winger comes deep to get the ball.

Martial as a striker? Did I just dream? And why the hell do we have Fellaini? What kind of team is that?!?

I guess we will all see what Lukaku offers to this team today. I expect Rashford to be anonymous, but I hope not.

Chopped and changed side again. Not sure Jose knows his best 11 and that is why performances are inconsistent. We've got a week before the next fixture so it can't be about changing the side because of a quick upcoming game.

It's not, it's incredibly basic. It's the area he needs to improve on most. He doesn't really come alive until the ball is at his feet. Rashford will stretch defenses. Martial wont move to create space. I could be wrong but until he does that he'll never get the nod over Rashford.

The fact Darmian is starting ahead of Valencia, I think, proves this wrong.

We've secured CL football so Jose will be playing a weakened/rotated side in the remaining league fixtures (see: Darmian and Rojo starting). I agree with you Jose doesn't know our best XI but don't think he was planning on playing what he sees as his first team until either the FA Cup final or a game or two before.

I think that’s a midfielder too many. I don’t think you need more than Matic Pogba for these games

Crazy subs bench too, only one real attacking player (Lingard). I hope Jose hasn't underestimated Brighton, seems weird to only have 1 attacking option on the subs bench.

If Lukaku and it appears Sanchez are injured, who is left?
