Yeah, I don't think he can play that role, but could be good as an energetic box-to-box player in the Fletcher or Matuidi mold. I like the way he buzzes around defensively. Not sure what the stats are but he seems to win the ball a lot and transitions to attack quickly.

Totally agree. He seemed like the only midfielder at times and I think he looked worse as a result because he was forced to play a lot of low-percentage vertical passes (he did seem a bit off with his passing as well) and also dribbling down blind alleys because he had no other options on.

Always a lot of unknowns when it comes to young players making the step up (particularly from amateurs chatting on a football forum). Me and my mates used to moan when we'd see Darren Fletcher's name in the starting lineup when he was first coming through and he turned in to a superb player...

White text? OP is entitled to his opinion, but this one is really poorly informed. England has only one team in the top 10 clubs in the co-efficient rankings. The continental competition spots are not some arbitrary decision by UEFA.

Agree. He had a good game with his pressing, passing and movement. There's always space in the squad for player like Jesse who is willing to run and move in to spaces for the team and also has a fair bit of quality. Reminds me of Park or Pedro.

I don't agree with that. When we were attacking he was doing a bit of everything, involved in the build up, getting in the box, spraying the ball around. Defensively he was pressing high working with Zlatan to close down the centrebacks and then dropping in a a third midfielder if it wasn't won...

Yeah, some of the comments are way over the top. His touch was a bit shaky on a couple of occasions, including once when he should have put his boot through the ball rather than controlling it in our own penalty box, but apart from that he was fine. He's made errors of judgement in past...
