Really?
I thought it was pretty obvious he had it in his locker going by his debut season.
Hmm great debut-season, but never thought that he would be this physical and aggressive in my wildest dreams.

After that great debut season he became mentally fragile, after the pressure at France's team got to him, was strange to see, but now he looks a beast mentally. Hungrier than ever.

At one point, he was going full speed and in a second, dragged it back and forth to ghost a player without losing speed on his run, just at a technical level in the dribbling that no one else comes close to on the team.

Should have scored a couple today. Not sure if he thought he could dribble all the way into the goal without shooting.

Unbelievable close control and dribbling though.

I’m not as anti-Mourinho as most, because I believe he has been the most successful manager we’ve had post SAF, and played better football than Van Gaal and Moyes. But how he saw Martial that season and thought he was surplus to requirements is mind blowing.
People call Martial inconsistent, sulky, an enigma. It’s nonsense. He’s a consistently dangerous player, who causes havoc and moves defenders around by his movement, touch, and close dribbling. Build an attack around him and we might have a chance of getting back to being something really competitve.
If Martial was as sulky as had been claimed, Mourinho would have been sacked earlier as some of the goals he scored kept Mourinho in the job.

Nothing to do with the complete twat managing him?

Performance deserved a goal. Probably deserved an assist, too.

Dude dribbling is insane. Even when he doesn't have his shooting boots on, his ability on the ball is ridiculous. Someone was trying to argue that he isn't our best dribbler

For anyone watching the game in the UK, are you getting the feeling that the presenter doesnt want to talk about Martial? RVP has mentioned him a few times and he just keeps moving to the next topic.

Maybe its just me.
Yes, he is clearly trying to avoid it. This goes against the narrative they have created and he isn't from British Isle.

Scholes, Hargreaves, and Van Persie can't stop raving about him. He's finally getting the recognition he's been deserving of since the restart. Nice dive for the penalty too.

Really deserved a goal. Between him and Pogba as our most naturally talented players. Kanye can feck off, press need to stop trying to push him on us.

Exactly, praising him would lessen the amount of times they can bring up good old 'Arry Kane whenever discussing what we still need :rolleyes:

Martial could have helped Mourinho a lot to stay in the job had Mourinho not signed Sanchez. I think it was after Martial scored for three or some games in a row that Sanchez was bought.

Everyone thought Sanchez was bought for the RW (where he'd spent a lot of his career playing anyway). It's just the twat had other plans because of his own personal biases.

How many pens has he won us this season. Lately it feels like he's won us all the penalties

This. Most people thought for sure he'd fill this big need on the right because Martial was probably the best player prior to his purchase for a good run of games. Mourinho royally fecked this up and Martial's development, luckily he's still young and he's now on the path he should have always been on.

Mindblowing to hear from Scholes  , been one of his tougher critics. Says a lot that he's been slowly changing his mind lately

I thought he was below his own usually high standard for about 60-70 minutes, then for the rest of the game was by far the best outfield player on the pitch. Couldn't believe the chance he missed just before the penalty though.

Ole has turned him into a beast. Has to get in to the France side ahead of Giroud now.

I imagine this is what soured his relationship with the board as well. Considering they sanctioned the Sanchez transfer for a record wage to complete the attack, but Mourinho used it to drop one of our better players (one the club had spent a huge amount of money on a few years ago).

If he could finish as good as Greenwood he’d be one of the best footballers on the planet.

After missing two chances, and seeing how disappointed he was with himself for both, I'd put money on him scoring in our next game.

He'll have that added hunger and desire to right those wrongs.

Exactly. Martial is very lucky he was very talented into the scene as a teenager which means despite Mourinho wasting 3 years of his career, he's still young to fulfill his full potential.

After his first great first season at United he should have established himself as a bonafida world class in the next year or two. He was the best young talent when he joined us, a regular in the French team despite his young age(Deschamps himself always says he called Tony in the French squad very young) and was a golden ball winner. Everything was set up for him after that first season to go on and establish himself as a world class player in the next year or 2.

Unfortunately for him Mourinho happened, and now he has to do it all over again. Good thing is that he's still young and on his way to fulfill his potential.
