He also talked about coming home, happy to play together with old friends etc. Clearly this is more than the typical "half year to get some playing time" for him.
It's all good vibes until they can only afford to offer him half of his current salary.

When we take the premise for granted that he has to smile to play well and consider how much abuse he got after that Euro penalty miss I don't think he is even interested in playing for it at the moment.
I'd imagine getting racially abused as a 20 year old for missing a pen probably puts a sour taste in the mouth when thinking about the national team.

Weird that people are saying Dortmund are his level etc when Haaland and Bellingham both left Dortmund and kicked on fine. Same with Gundogan and various others.

It's also funny considering Dortmund are better than United. Won their CL group and we went out last. They're not ripping it up in Bundesliga this year but at least they're not 9th in the table like us.

Even weirder when you consider that all players you named (and some you didn't like Akanji) actually looked better once they left that nostalgic mess in dire search for the second coming of their beloved great manager. Sancho is the only one who looked worse once he moved.

I am not sure it matters that much to him.
Maybe he just feels more at home in Dortmund.
I'm sure it'll matter when we offer to sell him and it falls through due to wage demands. Personally I don't want him to play for United again, a feeling me and him seem to share.

One couldn't dream of an easier start for his loan. Playing against the 18th and last placed team last week, now against the 17th.

So far, a mediocre performance in a thoroughly mediocre team. Dortmund are pretty run down as a club and as a squad, honestly, people still go on how they are a well run club when the evidence shows they are not really. Not sure where all the money from player sales is going, it certainly is not reinvested into the squad so I assume, shareholders.
I've said it before, if anyone is looking for reasons why Bayern are so unchallenged in this sad sack of a league, look no further than Dortmund's systemic lack of ambition.

Patrick Owomoyela of course says it's a stonewall pen.
Laughable pen. He was hit, but then ran another 3 meters only to throw himself down golden raspberry style after a featherlight tug. VAR should have taken it back, guess they are starstruck that such a big name like Sancho is back in the league so starved of big names.

It was a pretty soft penalty, but it wasn't a severe referee mistake (which is the threshold for VAR overruling it). Still lucky for Sancho, that he got it.

Good, let’s have the media hype him up to unbelievable levels again, I remember one journo slating Southgate for not playing him at the EC in 2021 as he was likely to show himself as the best player in the Premier League within a few months. :houllier:
Hype him up and get that price as high as possible.

Haven’t seen the full match but the way in which he went past the two defenders for the penalty was schoolboy level defending.

We need him to look like an absolute superstar though. I don’t think he’s good enough for a top club but the narrative that it’s a United problem and he can shine elsewhere is a good one for us, if we are to cut our losses in the summer.

Thread hasn't been bumped in a while. I take he's not doing much for our hopes to get a decent price for him.
Simply missed a match due to a muscle problem and came late from the bench in the following one yesterday. Not his fault, only Dortmund managing his body carefully.

Our January loans are all probably worth less than before they went right now.

They aren’t better than us when we have everyone back like Casemiro, Martinez, Shaw etc we defo have better footballers all round as shown last season.

The gap should get wider in the coming years too. It’s almost impossible for it not to the calibre of people joining the backroom staff and the budget available once the FFP stuff has blown over.

Of course you are right that United would be better if everyone would be fit. But Dortmund is also playing far below their potential this season. So I don't think there is much sense in thinking about such hypothetical scenarios.

That said I agree on the expected trajectory in the future.

Last thing I seen on him was he was trying to grab the ball to take a penalty which did'nt seem to go down well.
Seems like no one is bothered about him or Antony for that matter since Alejandro has taken the bull by the horns and shown us what it is like to have a genuine threat on the right.

Haaland went to a city machine that’s well oiled and winning things.

Bellingham has gone to Real Madrid, again winning things in general and not in a bad moment.

United is absolutely a different assignment which will take a certain type of mentality to do well here. In the last 10 years name the signings that have truely worked with no questions asked? He is not alone in not doing well here, however, he is probably one of the least successful signings we’ve made, he looks way off the level we needed to turn it around. I’m going to say it’s mentality more than ability though.

so while it’s not unique to sancho, he’s not the level of beast required to make it here, with how things are at present. Nowhere near it. Would he do well at another premier league club? Probably not and that’s not down to his ability.

What ability are we talking about here? He has shown nothing at United to even talk about it.

And this mentality thing is overplayed. If you're good you're good, and he's just a nothing player.

Sancho is not good enough

Tbh, most/all of our wing signings for years have been failures....
Di Maria, sancho, Sanchez, Antony....

maybe we need to keep bringing them up through the academy like Rashford/greenwood/garnacho
