What's funny is that homelessness was criminalised by the Vagrancy Act 1824 and it is only very very recently that this Conservative Government decriminalised it. It is a u turn on a very recent policy.
How on Earth would something like this even be enforceable?

Stage 1: Fines -> they can’t pay them
Stage 2: Imprisonment for multiple ‘offences’ / not paying the fine -> we barely have space in prison for rapists and murderers anymore!!!

I imagine that’s the only reason some Tories are rebelling against it. If they could somehow fling them into the North Sea it would probably get a lot of support.

It is a typical distraction tactic for the gullible to latch onto.
The country is in a mess.
Nothing works anymore.
So blame it on the homeless because that is a lifestyle choice.
Pricks.

I'll have to wait to see who the local candidates are but I'm thinking the same way. If a GW was held tomorrow, I'd likely vote either Lib Dem or Independent.
Lib Dem aren’t any better really. Jo Swinson hoovered up all the defecting/expelled tories last GE as well.

Don't pay your TV licence and go to prison to watch TV all day for free!. This Country has gone down the pan over recent years. This place has never been the same since the financial crash of 2008. The Coalition Government came in with no money left so has to squeeze public spending and increase taxes whilst millions were jobless or taking wage cuts. If this Country was a business, the shareholders (you and me) would have sacked the board years ago. Problem is, there are no credible alternatives as far as I can see. Raving right wingers like Farage and Reform or dozy who knows what they are Labour. When Labour do eventually get in and say things are worse than they thought, the cycle starts again plus we'll be a heartbeat away from Angela Rayner as P.M. if Starmer crokes. Basically, we're f***ed. In the meantime, thousands of 'asylum seekers' with no identification land on our shores and are welcomed, fed, kept warm and cosy whilst Lawyers make millions from processing their claims. Yes, we also pay for their Lawyers. Genuine Asylum claims take way too long because of the bogus ones clogging up the system. Nothing will change.

They only need lawyers because the system is a mess. Having tried to work out visas myself a couple of times recently for different things, the Home Office website is out of date, misleading, or in some cases just plain wrong.

This is the story that is repeated. A shame it is not true.

14 years of austerity and fixing the UK's finances have only cost £1.6 trillion.

And destroyed services, increased poverty and malnourished children.

Shame those that came in have made the debt remarkably worse.

If it's illegal to be homeless shouldn't the state provide some kind of housing for those who can't afford? I know any given UK government wouldn't do something like that, but surely you cannot tell people they're not allowed to be homeless if they literally cannot afford to live anywhere?

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. All they have to do is literally be anyone other than the Tories to win, and yet they're hellbent on being the fecking Tories.
Not quite true. Corbynism would fit the “anyone other than the Tories” definition and there is little appetite from red wallers or blue waverers to vote for that

Yeah they're not getting my vote.
Nobody wants to see Tories come to power. But it's physically puke inducing to put a tick anywhere near a Labour candidate. My long time footy friend Sadiq Khan is going up for mayoral election again in May. Always voted for him obviously, and for Labour in the generals. The five voting members of my family are going Green this time. They are anti genocide. It's all that matters to us at this historic moment. Even if it's just lip service, and it likely is.

I'm actually making an exception for Khan. Sick of the racist drivel being directed at him (like Abbott he's a seemingly acceptable outlet for the racist right to direct their bigoted drivel at), and I think he's done a decent job as mayor, undoing a lot of the shite Boris had encumbered us with. I also enjoy the bigots foaming at the mouth at the mere mention of him. And unlike his spineless peers at the PLP, he wasn't as apologetic towards Israel's genocidal adventure and IIRC he called for a ceasefire early on when Starmer was high fiving the Israelis for cutting off water, medicine and energy.

The parliamentary labour party can do one though. Definitely opting for the greens on the GE front, and many of my friends and family are doing so too. A bit torn as to what to do at local elections though as I feel like the Labour councillors are decent folk with a bit of integrity.

Imagine having to describe yourself as anti-genocide to differentiate yourself from the other major political parties. Grim world we live in.

Fortunately in my constituency it’s between the tories and Lib Dem’s, so easy choice.

I would still vote Labour in a heartbeat to get rid of the tories right now, but fecking hell they seem to be making hard work of it, trying to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Labour have a decent chance in my constituency, but the SNP MP - for all the faults that the SNP have nowadays - is a great MP and will probably hold his seat anyway.

Seriously. How difficult is to not be the Tories? It's like Starmer has been given the answers to a two option multiple choice quiz and yet the cnut is still fecking up. But the reality is that they probably were cnuts anyway, and because everything has shifted to the right so much in our society they think they can get away with it. At least in the past Labour pretended like they gave a shit about people.

What he really wants to say is 'You know, I really don't give two fecking shits about your appalling northern nursery. Now, where's my helicopter which you're paying for?'
