Nobody other than Moyes was sacked after their first season. Interesting logic though.
I'm sorry to pick on you again but I don't follow your logic.

They were all sacked after their first season, Moyes was sacked during his first season. The distinction is somewhat important because they also all had good first seasons and they were all sacked based on their latest performances which would be the case for ETH if he was sacked in spite of a good first season.

Both have been garbage. ETH had higher highs and by far lower lows than Ole who was just perpetually average.
Not even fully sure this is true. I guess it depends on how much weight/importance you give the league cup, because yes, he won the league cup, but IIRC we couldn’t have asked for an easier run with a bunch of home games. Ole was shit too, but his team played better football and scored a lot more goals

Good thing it isn’t this guy’s first season either - and I’m not entirely sure you understood what I said

edit - seems like JProuve took the time to clarify it for you

Jesus, I'd almost erased that one from my mind. I maintain that heavy defeats on the road are never as bad as heavy defeats on home turf and those two results alone probably should have been the end of him the evening they occured.
Yeah I'd written that one off after the early red card, heads dropped and we never got back into the game. It was a rough start to the season, but then we went nearly unbeaten until the end of the season.

I don't think ETH is a poor manager, but maybe he is just not good enough to get a tune out of this bunch of players.

Other managers have tried and failed with most of this squad too.

I do not think many managers would succeed with this bunch because they have proven many times they are unable to raise their game to a certain level to win constantly.

Our whole defence is beyond shocking, the way they fall apart under any pressure is insane , its like amateur hour most of the time.

If ETH got a whole new defence, one decent midfielder and a striker, then I would be quite happy to give him another season.

But to be honest, he looked like a broken man after the last game.
Most of the squad?

Bruno, Rashford, Lindelof, Maguire, AWB, Dalot, Shaw, Martial and McTominay are the only players who've played lots of minutes under multiple managers since Fergie.

That's 9 players out of 25, less than half the squad. Out of those 9, only 4 are supposed to be regular starters this season. More than half our 1st choice XI and squad are ETH players or can't be said to have played really under a previous permanent manager.

Apparently I need to put it in simpler terms. Everyone but Moyes got a minimum of two seasons, and sacking Ten Hag after 1 and 3/4 seasons because previous managers weren't able to turn it around is horrible logic and I understood exactly what he meant, thank you

Don't worry, he'll get two seasons before he's sacked. As soon as CL football is gone so is he.

Here's something to help you prepare for tomorrow's match. On Sunday just remember the momentary pause in the lyrics between walk and alone.

If I were a Chelsea fan would I need to be reminded of the lyrics?

If you're happy with where the club is going then I'd question your support of Manchester United over a little bald Dutch man who seems to have a firm hold of your testicles.

You keep using to word logic without it making any sense. The logic is that any manager is judged on his latest performances and is sacked or not sacked based on that. What is not logical is for you to decide whether you are sacking someone based on when other managers got sacked or on seasons that aren't current, that's where there is a lapse in logic.

And I'm not even promoting his sacking, there are arguments for and against. As long as we agree that he is currently doing a poor job, I'm fine with the ones who think that he had enough time and also fine with the ones who wants to give him more time. Though it should be stated that he doesn't deserve more time, more time can be afforded but it's not based on merit.

Agree with the Muppetiers video today. We are really going to have to raise the levels of athleticism and physicality and intensity to really compete.

If ETH stays that should be the number one focus.

Pretty sure 80% of the squad will be in the hospital if anything is raised.

Hardly new insight. Some of us have said it for years.

This. Although there are many who think think he is doing a good job and give a litany of excuses for performances. Can you imagine if Pep in his second season had a performance like we had at Brentford?

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.
I'm sorry but when we get outplayed by the likes of Brentford, and injury hit Brighton, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Wolves etc then this is a really invalid point. We had a £350m bench against Brentford, probably cost double or triple what their first team cost. Not to mention the fact that their injury issues are worse than ours and they played with a clear, effective plan regardless. I'm bored of this argument about our squad, we have backup players that would walk into other teams and yet our entitled fans think all our players are just shit because they can't drag us through every game. Man for man we have more quality than many teams in the league.
This. Agee 100% and have also been pointing this out. We are full of excuses. And let's not forget out Champions league group and results.

He‘s our only cb who can play Ten Hag‘s system. He is pivotal to two aspects:

1. Playing through the opponent‘s press quickly so we can attack in space

2. He can defend aggressively on the ball, stepping up instead of sitting back

The 7-0 was a statistical freak game we should have lost 3-1, it has nothing to do with Martinez. The whole team fell apart after going behind.
This season when Licha’s been in the team, we’ve conceded 22 goals and scored 18.

oh look, here’s your chance to make up another excuse…

I’ve said before that one mans ‘ton of excuses’ is the next man’s ’mitigating factors’ based on perspective.
I’ve also not seen a single poster (myself included) claim ETH to be the greatest manager alive. Thats just silly.
I do think however that now isn’t the right time to change managers. We need to do things properly and get the hierarchy up and running first. I also believe ETH will thrive with the proper support (like he had at Ajax)
The 2nd paragraph is fine. We differ on when to change the manager. So be it. I’m not out for blood immediately.

I will stand by my original premise that the more “mitigating circumstances” there are, which is like 8 or 9 at this point, the more it’s just excuses.

3rd or 4th time this has come out this season, this is definitely not a case of our players being weak minded or whatever, this is of genuine concern now. Our injuries have been abysmal and this has to be a contributing reason for it.

Don’t fall for these player leaks and crap headlines. Too convenient a narrative.

Good point. So far we've been told coach is not responsible for training, fitness, motivation, transfers/squad building and even tactics, which begs the question: what is he actually responsible for? If we have other people taking full accountability for all these aspects, it seems he's not really doing much.
Hell, if the manager is responsible for nothing, I’m officially announcing that I am available for a 3 year contract at 10m a year to pace the sidelines, furrow my brow and speak animatedly with Steve McClaren. I also speak English fluently, so the 7 min pre and post game press conferences should be intelligible.

Not surprising. No smoke without fire and all that. Of course I'm sure most here will just resort to the usual clichés like "lazy players don't want to put in a shift".

I don’t know about new season but I agree he wins a big trophy long before United will if he moves on.
Everyone knows the Barca job is his. Bayern is also circling. He’d never manage at Liverpool given his legend status at United. The fan base would go mental.

Apparently I’m the only one that remembers that chronic injury issues here go all the way back to LVG. Ragnick mentioned it as well. Why the selective memory?

We can blame him from the point of view of the basic nature of professional sports, which lays the responsibility of motivating players on the manager. If you think Rashford's form this season has anything remotely to do with the tactical set up I'm not sure how to help you, whereas I can look at the majority of his goals last season and attribute them to him thriving in the system when it was actually being executed.
Wait, what? Did you just give Ten Hag credit for Rashford’s season last year and absolve him of blame for his poor season this year?

:houllier:

And that was because the team properly executed Ten Hag’s tactics last year (4-2-3-1) but not this year (4-3-3)? So Rashford is just a passenger of destiny, he has no responsibility for his performances. But also, Ten Hag has no accountability for the performances in his 4-3-3 this year because the team is not/refuses to execute the way it was designed.

:houllier:

‘For fecks sake, it is a cult.

we wouldn't be pissing down the leg of EtH is muppets like Rashford, Bruno, Antony and Martial actually played to their full potential instead of walking around the pitch screaming at everyone else
