Since arguably his best season at the club in 2019-2020 his game and goals tally in the last 4 years make for poor reading, especially considering he's been mostly a number 9 in that time: 107 games, 20 goals. He's only 28 years old as well, that's not really an age where a striker is on his last legs.

I remember his first season he was such an exciting player. More naturally talented than Hojlund, Garnacho and Rashford in my opinion and he looked such a lethal finisher :( .

We are really good at getting players with the wrong mentality and wrong discipline and motivation,,,,

We pay them 5 times more that what most of them are worth. Martial clearly couldn't care less, he's been on a.madsive 5 year contract and needs to do feck all to maintain it. I guarantee he'll retire shortly after he leaves united.

Exactly this, we should have known gig is up in 2019, instead we gave him a brand new contract.

i mean we def need to move on from him in summer but without bringing another CF in this window it would just be crazy to move him now. We would have hojlund and nobody else pretty much. Might as well just hope that he is available a bit to end this season and let him go at end.

He is useless. Comes in and jogs around like a lump, i.e. if he not on the IR. He is a persona non grata at this point.

I also think if we loaned in a striker for 6 months and let him go it would be a bit of a waste as well. We should just put up with him until the end of the season and then we can part ways.

"He is not excluded from the group and he has no problem with the coach… He is simply going to undergo a small operation on his abductors which he should have done for a while.”

Should of been abducted a while ago.

Spot on. Over pay massively not just in transfer fees, but salaries as well. No one else earns anywhere near what we’re paying them elsewhere, and that’s without even taking their shit form and underachievement into account. It’s infuriating how incompetent those board members have been. Borderline negligence IMO.

Was so pumped for him after the debut. His best season for us and we bought in sanchez to replace him and his form fell of a cliff after that. Did see a bit of a resurgence in the Ole era but could never stay fir enough + ronaldo coming in meant limited playing time again

He’s never going to play for us again, and has barely played for us the last few seasons. I don’t know why people consider him a viable option any more. Just keep him out of the first team squad and accept the loss since his agent has confirmed he will be having surgery.

The fat salaries we offer used to give us an edge when we were competing with other clubs to sign the best players in the world. So they aren’t a problem, per se. The issue has been our apparent inability to identify and target the best players in the world. A problem that goes all the way back to Fergie’s time in charge.

Yeah, agreed about the salaries offering an competitive edge bit, especially as we weren’t as attractive on the field. We definitely signed the wrong players in more than one way - which takes some doing!

A player who really did not live up to expectations. Probably switching him to a #9 didnt help his career. He likes ti run at defenders from the left, but still nothing special there

That will take him out until the middle of April if my brain is working

Just in time to come back, score a couple of goals at the end of the season and convince the club to keep him on

All our contract extensions should be no more than 3 years. It either offers a way for players to down tools or makes it impossible to shift injury-prone players with little commitment.

Already thank him for all his contributions and release an anouncement that we no longer want to extend his contract post summer. Let him and the world know that he is officially out of the door by summer. Then he can use the club facilities to get back to full fitness until summer but no need to include him into the team the rest of the season...

We really should've sold him after this failed stint at Sevilla.

I actually said 'feck off' when I saw the tweet. It's not his fault but I've become that bitter towards his injury situation. I actually rated him highly too. Such a shame how it all turned out for him.

Some people's bodies reach a point where they aren't made for football. It's actually a bit sad. Easy to see how his motivation got completely killed after injury after injury

Only twice in his 9 seasons with us has he managed to score more than 10 league goals. The 1st time was in his first season where he got 11 then that season under Ole where he got 17.

Useless to say the least.
