I'd rather pluck a fan from the streets and give them a starting place at left back than see this man play for City ever again.
Bit more considered a response than the ones below yours.Obviously at this point he's a disaster of a player but I really think it should be noted that his knee problems (torn ACL in his right, torn cartilage in his left) really hampered his development at a critical time in his career.
Through his first 2 seasons at City before doing the other knee he managed 6 assists in 14 starts. He's definitely missing something physically at this point though and has shown no indication that he'll be able to adapt to the new reality that are his physical limitations (akin to Fernando Torres when he moved to Chelsea).
What's interesting is that I feel as though a direct line can be drawn between Mendy's early showings and Sane leaving - Pep had made it clear that he preferred Mendy staying wide with Sterling in the left channel as opposed to Sane wide with one of the CMs stepping up (especially at the beginning of last season, where Sane was distinctly second choice). Already looks like a colossal blunder in retrospect that's only likely to get worse with time I'd reckon.Bit more considered a response than the ones below yours.
He started like an absolute train, but doesn't look anywhere near the threat now.
City are such an odd team. When they turn it on they probably are still the best team, and they showed that recently, bashing a few teams. Wouldn't swap him for Lingard palStraight swap for Luke Shaw? Anyone?
Harsh but fair.Wouldn't swap him for Lingard pal
Ake plays there for Holland so I think he'll end up there for us.Left back feels an odd position for City.
You had Delph in the 100 point season who did a decent job filling in there but he was only ever a stopgap and lost confidence of Pep the next season when he got recklessly sent off in one game and hardly played again.
Zinchenko is alright but no world beater and seemingly out of favour now and perhaps could move on.
And Mendy who's not been good for a long time.
Laporte could play there no problem but you need him centrally otherwise that means John Stones starting lots of games. Perhaps Ake will play a bit there.
Sicknote and too impetuous for Pep.Should've kept Delph.
He's 26, if he was 18-21 you could probably say that, but acting the way he does at his age moves him into the wanker category.Wouldn't say he's a wanker, rather an immature child without any sense of responsibility.
This is beyond immaturity. Mendy should have a look at the death statistics. His behaviour is endangering not just well compensated colleagues, but other rank and file people at City.Wouldn't say he's a wanker, rather an immature child without any sense of responsibility.
Wasn't meant as an excuse, of course he should have grown up by now. Think he's a selfish clown without any discipline. He's 26, if he was 18-21 you could probably say that, but acting the way he does at his age moves him into the wanker category.
I would say he’s in the cnut category. He's 26, if he was 18-21 you could probably say that, but acting the way he does at his age moves him into the wanker category.
Imagine having a party at your place and asking an escort agency to send you "big booty latina" girls and then getting COVID from one of them and derailing your teams title ambitions?
Without question. On reflection it could definitely be deemed a sackable offence. They’ve had a game postponed due to covid and the rules have been strenuously told to players and staff for months now. Plus it’s in a period where they’re debating cancelling football. He at least needs a big fine or lengthy ban from the authorities.
I think canceling football is off the table but he'll probably never play for City again. I'd isolate him from the group for the rest of the season now, he can't be trusted. On reflection it could definitely be deemed a sackable offence.
