Some of you need to give it a rest. It's almost as if you were actually naive to think that top players come to play for Utd in the PL, or nothing. The way I see it is that there are 2 main reasons to be disappointed. There can be overlapping.
1. is that a rival is signing a potential top class player - In this case as I've said before it's inevitable. Like it or not City are a very attractive destination with a good team, Pep's gravity and plenty of £ to offer. Expect more, and even Chelsea to do the same. It isn't Pokemon and we can't sign them all for the sake of safeguarding them from other teams.
2. is that City are signing a player you wanted at Utd (and could be top class) - Well this is more tricky. The first thing to say is that even if we wanted him, we're not guaranteed to get him. Silva is a prospect, and not Messi so while it's fine to disappointed, some of the reactions are going way overboard. More importantly does the evidence suggest we actually wanted him? No. Mourinho appears to not be interested going by previous posts, but also Jose handed his list to Woodward 2 months ago. If Silva was on that list you can bet we will have approached Monaco by now. I.E. Silva will be aware we want to sign him at this moment, and if he's interested in playing for us then he wouldn't be having a medical for City.
I think City will be a signing a top player, and I'm disappointed. Likewise many people are just expressing their disappointment. However it's the few whingers making daft comments suggesting we'll be playing catch up to City for years and having a go at Woodward etc. that need to calm down. Jose and Ed aren't idiots, in fact they've proven to be very astute. Let's wait and see what they do before throwing our toys out of the pram. The point I'm trying to make is that if Silva is going to City, then it's because we don't want him/they want him more. It's not likely down to incompetence on our part.
