Do you think there will be a Deal or No Deal?

  • Total voters
    194
  • Poll closed .
I'm still angry. Is anyone else and all?

Will be funny seeing the same influx of people coming in from the continent over the next few years though...
Yep. I think there should be at least a majority of 60% needed to force through such a momentous decision (and one that sends waves crashing around the world). Doesn't sit right to base it all on 4% or so.

Must say today has not gone half as badly as I feared. Think we were expecting much worse outflows of cash but it's been subdued

Idiots. People don't realise you have to sleep in the bed you make for yourself.

I wonder how many people would go back and change their vote now? I'm willing to bet quite a lot.
or even just go and vote instead of staying at home and thinking remain would win so no point in voting.

Not a great idea as i'd probably bring back the Gladiatorial Games.

That's exactly why I would do it ;) Only people who voted out are allowed to enter though. And they must fight to the death 5 times in a row. And if they win 5 matches, then they must fight 3 bears, a tiger, a Vietnamese pot bellied pig a komodo dragon and 4 rabid pit bulls and Anthony Joshua.

Its an easy mistake to make. Lets blame our incompetency to the foreigner in Brussels who cant get arsed to defend his case. It happens in both Malta and Italy too.
Nah, Renzi is quite pro-EU despite that Italy pays a lot of money to EU. Lega Nord are against EU (they also support Trump, Putin and a delegation of them visited N.Korea last year), but they are on single digits on general election.

Until Berlusconi's party went to shit, they were for separation from Italy (basically Veneto and Lombardia), but now that there is place for a right wing party (with Berlusconi's party losing too much power), they are pro-Italy but anti-EU. Thankfully, they aren't going to get into power here for a long time (otherwise, I would need to feck off cause I wouldn't want to leave in a bigot country).

Their campaign is similar to that of Boris/Farage. EU and bloody immigrants are to be blamed on pretty much everything, and all their facts and numbers are wrong.

I think that Le Pen's party in France is similar, but they are a bit stronger.

If we get a better deal for voting out everybody will be after one. That is why they have to make an example of us, even if it hurts them to some degree. They cannot give us a deal that is as good as the one we currently have.

Then perhaps they should be giving member state greater concessions if that's what they want? The goal really shouldn't be the survival of the EU project above all else

I hope Im wrong and this projection is an extremity .... but UK exiting the EU is already an extreme action so all bets are off ....

The Far Right wing have officially parked there bus in the British Parliament. In a Glazer like takeover movement, they were aided by a decade of soft lazy liberal political correctness they whipped up enough fear in the public sentiment and cleverly rode the EU referendum wave. The views are officially legitimate and they believe they have a manifesto. A future Boris led Tory Government will have to form a coalition with UKIP and other emboldened far right parties who will win seats in the next election. Labour will also have to alter its manifesto and become much harder on the cosmopolitan benefits of the international community. The next 5 years will be a narrative is fuelled by 'rule Britannia', shuns immigration and Islam and marginalises ethic minorities.

This will inspire other movements across the world, the US will choose Trump, France will vote in Le Pen and right wing ideologies will thrive across mainland Europe. India is already ruled by the right wong nationalist Modi and China will accelerate its own cultural revolution. And so whilst digital technology continues to decrease the size of the planet and make the global population feel like their are no borders, Governments all around the world will head in the opposite direction. At some point somebody will do something to piss somebody off, and with no international coalitions in place to help smooth over potentially violent disagreements (why the EU was set up in the first place!), nationalist Governments will consider war.

Whilst radical Islamic extremists will provide a backdrop, it will not be the trigger for all our conflict: European countries will do that all by themselves, as they have done twice before. Except this time, we have nuclear weapons aided by sophisticated geo tagging to do damage.

With all his tools to read the public opinion and the huge REMAIN machinery at his disposal, I can't believe that Cameron

1) failed to understand the public sentiment
2) Decided to put this issue to a vote he would lose.

Failure of strategy 101

I really don't think European nations will go to war, especially not a nuclear war, the mutual deterrent worked in the Cold War and I imagine it will work again especially if the European governments are similar ideology. I worry more of the cultural and social impact that comes from having right-wing governments such as the cutting of welfare programmes and the possible regression of LGBT and ethnic minority rights.

Who was saying that the democracy is a good idea?

People with IQ lower than 110 should not be allowed to vote. I am dead serious on that.

In fact, is is better if people didn't vote at all for these types of things. Too big decisions in the hand of the idiots.

I'm livid Spoony. Seriously fecking pissed off.

I've been reading some football forums and came across this nugget which made me laugh though:
Waleland would be my suggestion. Scotland and Northern Ireland should join Ireland and form the UCK: United Celtic Kingdom.

All I can say is you should get out more.

Isn't it more that pols shouldn't gamble away their responsibilities in referenda?

Yeah, I agree. Give the idiots the opportunity to choose between a few arseholes, who in the end are smart enough to not make suicides.

People get happy at the concept of 'making decisions', and experienced informed people should make better decisions than uneducated bigots.

To put it into perspective. 33.5m people voted yesterday. So the Petition would need to get to 335k to represent 1% of the voters and 1.7m for 5%. So this really does need pushing pretty hard.
Most signed petition has 823k signatures. This one is on 153k at the moment.

Reminder of petition link for those who'd like to sign: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/131215/

If US elects Trump and France elects Le Pen, then I will fear for an another world war.

If France elects Le Pen, then it is the end of EU. France are too important for EU (far more important than UK), so them leaving will be the end.

I was engineering an event first thing this morning for European students who were receiving certificates for English language courses, and the guest speaker was Gordon Brown. It was a rather strange and tense atmosphere. You could tell that he wanted to say something about the referendum but he kept professional and left it out of his speech.

And they say young people should be allowed to vote. What was she thinking.

She's not alone though, the Huffington Post is running another similar story. Surely this is grounds for another vote? Surely this can be used legally? In today's age of suing for everything and using the courts to sort every battle, surely this can be used to prove that the vote was invalid? There must be thousands of people like this.

Also, didn't Ireland have 3 votes until they got the answer they really wanted? And wasn't France on the verge of pulling out too? And had another vote?

I think France have a far higher chance of leaving now.

How likely is it that Le Pen will be elected ?
