I know this is likely to trigger you, but pogba when on his top game is better. After that, actually, I'd struggle, I grant you. Which is rather depressing. Maybe varane, when fit?
Pogba in the totality of seasons he’s been at United especially with his value paid…..has been shite. Extremely inconsistent and hardly the most important of players.

Bruno in 2 season has done more then Pogba in all of his for United

This is probably a conversation for another thread, though I think shite is a little harsh. I do get why, given your loyalties, you'd feel Bruno can do no wrong though.

Russell Westbrook of football
Off topic but Westbrook is the most overrated “superstar” in the history of basketball.

Awful shooter, awful passer, good scorer I guess, awful playmaker and when it comes to playoffs a perennial loser.

Off topic done.

Another example of a player we can't get a tune out of stepping up at International level.

We don't have bad players, we're badly organised and have failed to build a squad with a cohesive style.

Again, without wishing to be the dissenting voice but it's North Macedonia. I know they gave Italy a tough time but they're not exactly a footballing powerhouse.

Bruno can absolutely do a lot of wrong.

For example besides today he’s been in my view pretty shit for Portugal nearly every time.

This season for United also has not been his best.

However I know how good of a player he is. And he is far from being any sort of problem for United.

As for Pogba in terms of the season he has played for United how much he cost and what he actually produced, yes I would go with shite for a supposed world class player. Pogba would be one of the very first names I would ship out of United for the rebuild. In front of him I would only put Maguire in terms of guys to get rid of.

However for France I feel Pogba is usually pretty dam good.

Pogba has to be one of the most disappointing signings I can remember for us. Bruno is having a bad season, but generally he's been really good for us.

We as football fans have such short memories and are fickle at the best of times. Remember the days of watching Ole alternate between Pereira and Lingard at No.10, with our hopes hinging on an inconsistent and unreliable Pogba coming back from the treatment table.

Let's hope he can bring some form into the tail end of the season for us.

Are you deliberately going out of your way to miss the points that posters are making?

So I click and am seeing posts about a masterclass performance. My heart skips because I realised we played a match and I missed it. Nope, google says our last fixture was still Athletico. Oh brother, don't tell me people are using world cup qualifiers to counter arguments about the player's performances for us. Lads Pogba actually won the World cup with France and still isn't the right player for us. Not saying Bruno isn't but you get the gist.

Not gonna lie but Portugal have so much quality in their squad especially in the creativity area. Bernardo, Jota, Bruno, Cancelo, and Otavio. Not to mention Felix is on the bench. These players can pass and create chances. We are not even anywhere near Portugal in term of creativity. Who do we have Bruno, Pogba, and Sancho only? One will leave end of the season while the other one had slow start this season. Bruno would look better if we add more creative players in the team because he won't be burdened to be the only one who needs to create chances.

People need to chill a bit, it was North Macedonia, as much as they did upset Italy, they fluked it scoring the only shot on target they had in 90 minutes from a screamer...it can happen it's Football.

Bruno has been bad for Portugal against decent/good opposition, in the Euro he was very underwhelming against Germany, France, and Belgium, and very bad in the qualifiers against Serbia in Lisbon.
Not everyday Portugal are gonna face North Macedonias, certainly in the World Cup the only team as weak as North Macedonia will be Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, and maybe Canada.

Bruno scoring both goals in the play-off final taking Portugal to the Fifa World Cup.

It doesn't get much bigger than that.

They were both classy goals that showed how good he is, especially the technique for the second goal.

Some of you are just miserable who want to see all our players fail so you can moan at them and proclaim how right you were all along.

Jesus, this forum is awful.

Don't care about the opposition, it's nice to see him scoring and creating and nice to see him doing it in a team with Ronaldo in it too.

Awesome to hear that he's had a good game in the playoff final. I'll admit that Bruno is a concern when it comes to playing possession footy. But given his age, performances since he joined us and work rate, let's hope he manages to evolve and further improve under the new manager as well need him over the coming years. One thing about him is that he doesn't lack. I feel he needs composure at times to be more precise in his play but in a team with slackers, he isn't that.

The challenge is how he develops under a possession oriented manager and moving away from counter attack / Ole 'a chaos system.

Are you deliberately going out of your way to miss the points that posters are making?
No. No I'm not. Using a good game against an extremely weak team as him stepping up at international level when he's broadly been poor for Portugal is pretty weak.

You can only beat what's in front of you mate.

I don't understand your beef with Fernandes as he is our best players since he was signed. Yeah, he loses the ball a lot, but so does KDB. The difference is KDB is playing a well oiled machine while Bruno has to make due with this shitshow.

Should I also remind you that the man walked into our team and completely transformed our performances and saved Ole's job as a result?

Yeah, he has been off form for about a year now, but to be fair so has every single player we've had.

I guess that's part of my point...he's not really stepped up for Portugal in some time so to use one good performance against a really poor side as evidence that he steps up at international level doesn't track for me.

I don't really have a beef with Bruno... he was brilliant for long stretches in the first season or two but to say that the difference between him and kdb is that kdb plays in a well oiled machine is over simplifying. KdB is streets ahead of Bruno imo.

It's not like he chose to play against them in the play off final. If it was so easy why Jota and Bernardo Silva which started for better teams than United did not score 3 goals each against NM ?

Why poor mate? They were in the play offs so they can't be that bad. Bruno's performance sealed Portugal's qualification, so it's not like they were playing a friendly with Luxembourg.

As for KDB, trust me, if we swapped the two. I assure you KDB would look even worse than Bruno in this United team. As Messi has shown: you have to be the right player in the right team.

You're right. So he played well at International level for once. It doesn't make any sense to use that as a stick to beat United with when he's never really shone in International football.

You know that's not how football works right? Not every player can score in every game. I'm sure that there have been games for Portugal in which Jota has scored that Fernandes hasn't. It means nothing.

They're 67 or whatever in the world, rode their luck against Italy and the group was a weak one. They did well to qualify against expectations but let's not go crazy and say it makes them a good side. As for the second bolded bit, I guess we'll never know but I don't think there are many, if any, sides in the world that kdb would look worse than Bruno in.

Nice to see him have a good game and two important goals. Hopefully it will bring some consistency to his performances for us. I was hoping that would happen after a couple of good games in January but it didn’t materialise. That being said the same was true last season also. Hopefully Bruno can sort some kind of form out in terms of performances. Maybe that’s difficult at United as we are a bit of a mess but after 15 months of largely poor performances for us you can only hope. Has he won anything as a player?

Honestly think we should ignore buying a striker this summer and use Fernandes as a false 9. Why is it that klopp can turn jota into a striker/false 9 but united can't do the same with Fernandes?

Jota is quicker, more agile and stronger. Fernandes does his best work running onto a ball similarly like Lampard/Gerrard did.

We'd be better playing with a proper target man striker who our wide men can pass the ball into and run off. Haaland would be ideal but obviously not likely.

How have we not been getting a tune out of Bruno? This season he's been our most productive player without scoring a single penalty (9 goals/14 assists from his CAM position, while being one of our hardest working players defensively).

In general he's been much better for us than for Portugal the 26 months he's been here.

Why make up narratives that doesn't exist?

Really?

Bruno is one player that we have got a tune out of.

CF role a better fit for him next season I wonder.. If Ronaldo leaves it'll become a necessity really. He did well whenever Solskjaer played him there.

The way united fans talk about Bruno Fernandes you'll think Fergie players played at a world class level every game every season, if you can't appreciate a player like Bruno am not sure why you bother to watch football at all, there are only a handful of footballers that are overall better, his primary role is too score and create chances and among midfielders in the league he is up there in both metric, he works hard and gives his best, yes he gives the ball away and is having a worst season than his previous seasons but he is only one of the few individuals in our squad that is good enough for the level we aspire to be at.
If you overanalyze any footballer you'll find faults, I can live with his because overall he is worth it.

We all know how good Bruno can be on his day. But like all players he needs a manager who can get the best out of him on a consistent basis, so far he hasn't had that with us.

So you think Bruno has played well for us this season?

I think it's been a real mixed-bag to be honest. Some good performances and some absolute horrors, with not much in between

It’s also disingenuous to disregard a good performance and pretend it’s irrelevant. That’s a boring rabbit hole to go down.

Um, I didn't. I was trying to contextualise it. In what way is what I said a potential rabbit hole? I feel like you don't fully grasp what that phrase means but eager to hear.

As you say he's been in both ends of the scale, just like he's been with Portugal. It's the "another player that we can't get a tune out of that steps up at international level"-take that I can't take. Over all I think he's been our most important player together with DDG this season. Works his socks off for the shirt every time he's on the pitch.
