So Cavani thanked his black away united shirt for his goal on social media and for that he’s banned. Is that about right?
Im an anarchist at heart. Fcuk them all.nah. That's OTT. its fighting a pointless fight.
Factually accurate though bud. What a stupid post. I have to laugh
Are his media accounts region blocked to Uruguay? He was speaking spanish therefore using your analogy the FA have fined him for driving on the right side in uruguay and not england.
Just UK culture. There has been precedent for using that word in the Premiership and our club was involved! And how long do you think it would take the club to De brief him on all cultures across the globe? He'd have to read a encyclopaedia before he could play for the club and remember everything in it.
Spot on. My first thought when I saw the news was "wait a minute, shouldn't they be fighting AGAINST racism..?!" If anything, they're doing just the opposite, imo. Sorry, but this feels so so wrong and immature...Whilst trying to stamp out racism, the FA have indeed become what they claimed to stamp out. Disregard for South American culture and context of words. Well done. Problem is they are too obtuse to realise the irony here
No there hasn’t. Honestly, how good was Liverpool’s PR campaign around Suarez? People seem incapable of understanding that he didn’t even argue before the tribunal that he had said “negrito”.Just UK culture. There has been precedent for using that word in the Premiership and our club was involved!
To save everyone the trouble Ander apparently said, "If they ban you for that. The world is going to shit. Big hugs and stay strong Edi."Ander Herrera had some choice words on Cavani's latest instagram post
Who gives a fecka about Suarez? No there hasn’t. Honestly, how good was Liverpool’s PR campaign around Suarez? People seem incapable of understanding that he didn’t even argue before the tribunal that he had said “negrito”.
If you read the Suarez judgment, it’s pretty clear that the reasoning applied in that case would have concluded that Cavani meant no offence and would therefore have cleared him. We are in a different time now though, and the rules have sufficient ambiguity that Cavani’s innocent tweet is arguably in breach.
Edit - just to add that I only consider it arguably in breach. I actually think if Cavani had defended this he’d have had reasonable prospects - particularly if the suggestions that the guy he tweeted is white are true. However, it’s the right decision, in the current climate, to avoid the negative PR and the risk that the FA penalises even more harshly.
He's right. It is an absolutely atrocious decision. For all of the "the FA had no choice" nonsense, of course they did. They've banned someone for using racist language when there was absolutely nothing racist about it whatsoever. To save everyone the trouble Ander apparently said, "If they ban you for that. The world is going to shit. Big hugs and stay strong Edi."
Not a chance. People barely remembers BSilva's tweet.Cavani needs to appeal this otherwise he'll forever be lumped in with Suarez, Terry and Big Ron.
I appreciate Man United won't want the hassle but feck that, if I'm Cavani this gets appealed.
Crystal Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey did not know what a Nazi salute was when he was charged with making the offensive gesture, says a Football Association panel.
Completely disagree.Cavani needs to appeal this otherwise he'll forever be lumped in with Suarez, Terry and Big Ron.

Good post this. This is what happens when (I presume) people with limited intelligence who cannot speak a foreign language, have never lived in a foreign country, and who don't understand nuance are able to pass judgements in a kind of kangaroo court. They presume that their hyper-sensitive race awareness trumps all other forms of understanding relating to the Spanish language and Cavani's upbringing and culture.
I feel really sorry for Edinson who has really had his name tarnished and made to feel bad for something unnecessarily. He has apologized because he has been advised that it is in his best interests, I assume. However, he must know that he hasn't knowingly done anything wrong and behaved in a way that is perfectly acceptable in his own country.
This is damaging for him and puts him firmly in the wrong for no good reason. I hope that United are able to support him and show him the love that he needs to feel welcome at the club and in a country that will no doubt feel very strange to him right now.
As someone who speaks and understands Spanish and who has lived for a long time in South America I have total sympathy and understanding of what Edinson said. He has been wronged, but to some extent the governing bodies have painted themselves into a corner by constantly doubling down on race awareness. Having done that, it really leaves them with no option to be harsh on Cavani, even though they must surely be aware of the specific nuances in this case that clearly absolve Cavani of any wrongdoing.
Also, the FA, themselves, deemed the term 'negrito' as non-offensive. You really can't make this shit up. Total incompetence from those fecking feckwits.Suarez didn't call anyone 'negrito'. He initially claimed he used that term because it is by and large innocuous and has no negative context.
He later admitted he did not use 'negrito' and used the more offensive 'negro' to Evra, but thanks for signing up.
No he didn’t. His friend would be considered “white” and Cavani used the term as an affectionate term to a friend. Nothing racial about it!Cavani said something friendly that refers to someones race but does not have a relevant comparison in England. As soon as he learned it was a faux pas to do that in England he deleted it and apologised, and when he was charged by the FA he took the culturally sensitive approach, unlike Terry and Suarez.
Well saidSigned up to vent as a Uruguayan. Who the feck are these FA clowns to decide how two Uruguayan friends should communicate to each other using their own cultural context and language (whether it is on social media or not). If anyone is racist it’s these cnuts. Uruguay is a country with a proud Afro descendant history. Our most traditional cultural music and dance (Candombe) is directly descended from African roots. Our culture has been built by decades of Afro descendants and white people getting along in harmony and coming together to celebrate our way of life and country. We have a proud history of African descendants whom have contributed immensely to our history and are celebrated in our culture, music, stories and literature.
The word Negrito has been used as a term of endearment for decades and it comes from history of our white and black people proudly getting along. The word has been ever so present in our culture that it has become a friendly term and it has no racial or colour connotations at all. It is a term used by all to express affection. Clowns thinking they have the moral superiority over the world. Cavani is a good honourable man but I do hope somehow and in some way these FA clowns are sued for cultural discrimination. Uruguay was one of the first countries ever to have black players along with white playing together. One of the first countries ever to abolish slavery and have women and black voters, our national team is nicknamed after out indigenous race pfft what these clowns in suits know about culture and racism.
Bench man like he was vs Southampton and changed the game or vs Leicester ? Being on the bench doesn't mean you aren't an important playerWho cares he's a bench man anyway. Wouldn't get a game in the next two anyway. Maybe would fill in after the Liverpool game to give people a rest but nothing more from Cavani. Let the FA have their 2 minutes in the sun.

I agree. Lots of talk that he's missing irrelevant games. Cavani is a key man and would have a big part to play in all 3, whether starting or not. Even moreso with Martial and Greenwood struggling for form.Bench man like he was vs Southampton and changed the game or vs Leicester ? Being on the bench doesn't mean you aren't an important player
Exactly. This is not justice. If this were an actual court proceeding and not a governing body with limited possibilities of appeal, I doubt the accusation would stand. You get the impression that the decision was made not because it is right or just (nobody honestly believes Cavani's post was racist in intent) but because the FA feels it's obliged to do so.
It's a case of "How would it look?" rather than "Is this just?"
I sincerely hope this awful decision doesn't undermine serious and badly needed anti-racist initiatives in our game.

Slightly off topic , but I disagree with the notion that just because it was said to a white person it can’t be racist. I remember at school there were these two white girls who used to greet each other saying ‘what up my n**ga’ and remember feeling extremely uncomfortable every time they did it even though I don’t believe they did it go be racist but it could easily come across that way.No he didn’t. His friend would be considered “white” and Cavani used the term as an affectionate term to a friend. Nothing racial about it!
