On a more humorous topic, just how great would the transfer muppet threads be with the qatari warchest behind us!
I can see protests bigger than the one that shut down the Liverpool game if they stay.
Oh really, Those governments are better than the Qatari ?When was the last time the UK or US government persecuted somebody for being homosexual or marginalised and maligned women? How many foreign migrant workers died when we rebuilt Wembley stadium?
This false equivalence needs to stop. There is no comparison between ME Islamic states and democratic western governments. Open your eyes.
Why? What have I missed
I was listening to the UWS podcast last night and they had Jim O’Neil on what was saying he’s really not sure where the growth is going to come from in the next decade.Hard disagree. They don't even know what's going to happen in a few years let alone a decade.
This is from Forbes just yesterday:
What is their net worth?
Forbes estimated the family’s worth at £3.9 billion.
What do the Glazer family own?
Glazer’s six children, Avram, Bryan, Darcie, Edward, Joel and Kevin, own United after he acquired the bulk of the club's shares through the investment firm Red Football Ltd in 2005.
The six Glazer children each received an equal share of their father’s 90 per cent controlling stake after he died in May 2014 due to a protracted illness following a stroke.
Since their father's stroke in April 2006, Joel and Avram have been in charge of overseeing the day-to-day operations of the club. They are co-chairmen and Bryan, Darcie, Edward and Kevin serve as directors.
Avram Glazer offered shares worth £70 million for sale in March 2021.
As a collective, they're currently "only" worth £3.9 billion. Qatar are going to come in with FIVE BILLION cash, no issue. They're going to sell, it's just a matter of when and not if.
Would I be correct in thinking that even if Avram and Joel are desperate to keep United, and even if they made an offer to their siblings to buy them out, that the other 4 siblings could just outvote them and opt to sell to Qatar/Ineos for more money anyway?Hard disagree. They don't even know what's going to happen in a few years let alone a decade.

I guarantee there would be just as much outrage if it were a state owned company from there. In fact I'm curious if some of you pro Qatar would be just as enthusiastic of a Chinese state wealth fund came to us for some sportswashing.Did I say anywhere I agree with anything that happens in Qatar?
Okay, so let me ask you something.. Have you ever banked with Barclays? Used Heathrow Airport? Been to the Shard?
If so you fall into the same category too because you know what, Qatar has majority shares in all of those.
What happens in Qatar, is not right, I agree but its also the same with Child labour, underpaid labour, sexual abuse. In China, Africa etc...
OK so what are YOU worried about?
Oh ok, thought for a sec you meant INEOS.Avram and Joel.

This is from Forbes just yesterday:
Raine was hired to evaluate options. That includes many things, not just sale. And the parasites will walk away from 5 billion quid if they believe the club will cost 10 billion in 10 years, by which point they will have taken another additional 1 billion out of the club.
Between Ratcliff and Qatar, I'd prefer Glazer. We're on the right track with ETH and with another 200-300M we could really win the league without having to resort to being a Sheikh plaything.
Whilst ignoring any infrastructure improvement.
New debt maybe, they haven't said what they will do with the current debt. Will they really take loans of 6 8 bn to buy the club and build a new stadium? I very much doubt that, personally.
People are allowed to change their mind you know, based on what we currently know.

Good analysis earlier. Great calm posting, much of which I agree with. Have a follow. That already happens in Qatar regardless of if their bid is successful or not. United will just become the acceptable face of it, and the attitude you display in your posts today proves that sport washing is real and is already working before they’ve even spent a dime.
You are focused on, and blinded by fabulous wealth, star signings, space-age new stadium and state of the art training facilities but you need to think clearly what cost all that is coming at.
Jim Ratcliffe absolutely deserves scrutiny.Nar mate, you’re being incredibly hypocritical after being completely against state ownership, agreeing you hated it and the fans that backed it.
It’s not changing your mind, you’ve done a complete 180 on something you claimed you hated and were completely against.
You’re now jumping through hoops to find the negatives in a none state backed bid.
At least own your hypocrisy mate, lots here are at least holding their hands up there.
The Qatari government is highly discriminatory persecuting LGBTQ citizens, while the inclusive west just took out entire neighborhoods because in the West we believe that if you’re Arab, you should be afforded equal opportunities to get blown to bits in your living room no matter your orientation.Oh really, Those governments are better than the Qatari ?
So, it is gas, as I said. After further investigation I'm quite happy that my statement was 100% correct. Qatars economy was built on oil. It is now sustained on natural gas. Gas because the primary source of revenue in the 1990s while they'd been getting rich off the back of oil since the 1950s.
So please, ensure your facts are correct going forward
Jim Ratcliffe absolutely deserves scrutiny.
Why does China need any sportswashing? Their products flood every country, friend or foe. And they don't care about how they are perceived. Except for lip service, no Western nation dares to go against China.I guarantee there would be just as much outrage if it were a state owned company from there. In fact I'm curious if some of you pro Qatar would be just as enthusiastic of a Chinese state wealth fund came to us for some sportswashing.
You may want to check the uk governments record v catholics in NIWhen was the last time the UK or US government persecuted somebody for being homosexual or marginalised and maligned women? How many foreign migrant workers died when we rebuilt Wembley stadium?

It should yeah but you are quite literally disappointed that people are pointing out the downsides that come with Ratcliffe.Every single bid deserves detailed scrutiny, especially after due diligence.
Surely that goes without saying?

It's all made up by the Jimbo fans.I’m not seeing much of this at all?
In that, sure they do not discriminate, they blow up everybody equally. The Qatari government is highly discriminatory persecuting LGBTQ citizens, while the inclusive west just took out entire neighborhoods because in the West we believe that if you’re Arab, you should be afforded equal opportunities to get blown to bits in your living room no matter your orientation.

With loans of potentially up to £8 bn plus possibly current debt it's only natural for fans to be worried about how that's going to be repaid. Some of the biggest headscratchers are those insisting that the Qatari bid is the best because it means being debt-free. Debt in itself isn’t a bad thing.
You want us to pay for all our transfers in one lump upfront sum going forward?
Those facilities are the same ones that ETH is working with. They are not state of the art in the City mould but let’s not pretend that they are archaic.People such as Mourinho, Ibrahimovic, and Ronaldo have said the facilities that United has aren't up to the mark and that our owners don't know how to run the club. The Glazers aren't ready to spend a penny out of their pocket and I don't think ETH can spend 200-300M of the club's money because of the debt. The Glazers are just going to be a hindrance to everything that ETH can achieve with United and they might ruin the club even further than what they have already done. If they remain you can forget about United ever returning to the level at which we were under Fergie.
Nothing new to see here. Qatar have been heavily investing/invested in the UK for 10+ years now.
We’ve had huge losses over the past couple of seasons. We haven’t spent what we could theoretically under FFP every season. Unless it’s saying next year we will regardless of owners.
Don't worry mate.If the Glazers end up staying with investment…I, I just can’t!
