Protect the value

Their central tenet, along with do whatever it takes to gain more social media clicks.
Wasn’t it theorised that the value of the club would increase if players were put on exorbitant contracts, and therefore the club would be worth more? Shameless motherfeckers if remotely true.

Yeah which fed directly into undermining managers in favour of players like Martial and Pogba. Low football value but high theoretical book value.

Players are assets, so Phil jones gets a new contract as technically an England international and high value

If one person says something negative it probably won't be taken too seriously. But if multiple ex-staff bring up the same issues and criticisms then it will be given more weight.
Ye that’s fair enough.

Well - the more I read about the new owners, the more I praise the God that the Glazers at least got that right. I fear if we had received different owners, they would have given us tons of money to spend - which we would waste on mediocre players and we would just get marginally better. Now there appears to be a plan

Because only Ineos has had a plan in footballing history?

Or…… in the real world, his information is as right at the time and it’s changed since then.

WOAH would you believe that?! Things change all the time in football?
That's the game he plays that has you lot on strings. Can never be wrong.

While true, I think generally Romano is best at transfers and a lot less reliable on executive moves or takeover news. There's nothing wrong with that but I haven't been listening to Romano too seriously on the takeover and INEOS matters.

I know it doesn’t really matter

But I realised today that when the bid for United was made in February 2023, it was an Ineos statement and classed as a “Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS” bid

However now it seems it’s Ratcliffe alone via Trawlers who has bought a 25% stake

I wonder what changed? And if it will be Ineos too when he presumably goes for majority ownership in the next 1-2 years

It'll be a way to get around owning Nice at the same time.

Says me, speculating confidently whilst entirely uninformed on the situation.

Wasn’t there a story that they had the City man locked down for many months now?

I just sold my 2 shares to SJR. I bought at USD 25 and he offered USD 33. I leave my club in your good hands Sir Jim.

So is the club gonna have 3 CEOs or what?
Why stop there? let's have 6

Sir Brailsford
David Gill
Overmars

Blanc and Brailsford aren’t going to be CEO - they will be the Ineos reps on the board.

Gill isn’t going to be CEO.

Overmars isn’t going to be involved.

If Ashworth came in it would be as Director of Football, not as CEO.

Berrada is going to be CEO.

Agree with this. Proper statement by INEOS. Also like the oiled-up pun

Unsure about that, Berrada been in his role for a while and probably looking for a new challenge, whereas Ashworth barely got his feet under the desk at Newcastle.

Manchester United should easily be able to lure someone away from Newcastle, regardless of how long they've been there. Plus, they look like they've got themselves in a mess with the spending.

I didn't know about most of them but looking at their information online they seem to be very competent people. Why in the world didn't we do this earlier? Glazers are fecking idiots. The moment the club is actually looking for an overhaul, they all flock to it, even the best people at the job. The club is still hot.

I would agree on Ashwroth but one of my close pals is a Newcastle fan and he reckons that he really isn't getting all that much clout at Newcastle. As in, footballing decisions aren't really being made by him anyway and are by other executives and management staff. When you factor in their FFP issues and how close they are to the line, it might be a great time for him to take an opportunity here. Where he would have a complete blank slate, power and a good working relationship with people he has worked closely with before like db.

I might be being far too optimistic  but we can but hope!

You'd hope so. There's still a lot of smoke with Ashworth but let's see. Omars surprise signing means no one is really close to the situation.

A very good point actually.
