Will obviously be an easy win for Mayweather, but I imagine that UFC will be happy to take the money and exposure following the leveraged takeover.

Most of McGregor pre fight trash talk is about his numbers and how the opponent's are bums... Wonder which direction he'll go this time around considering mayweather is bigger than him in every way.
He'll have plenty of ammunation I'm sure. Mayweather has done h imself no favours in the past

  • The "biggest fight ever" with Pac being an absolute shit show of a fight
  • His last fight being a shit PPV draw showing he "needs" McGregor
  • Beats up women
  • If Mayweather mentions the MMA stuff McGregor can go back and say why he's not fighting a boxer and is fighting an MMA fighter and not an actual boxer
I don't think it's all true but there is plenty for him to go out. Equally there's stuff for Mayweather to say to McGregor. Like you said considering Conor's whole act is how he makes people rich (especially with Diaz and Alvarez) he's by far the B side in this fight and he can hardly call Mayweather a bum.

What are you basing that on?
Mayweather's relationship with USADA (he employs them and he won't go near VADA which is the #1), the testing is a joke and the results are private unless the promoter wants to go public. A.K.A - if I fail then so be it if my opponent fails he loses a career high payday so he basically secured an advantage where he could do whatever and the opponent was 100% clean. I'm all for clean, but in a sport where there's probably more than a few juicing, I'm not for juiced vs. clean, I'd rather juiced vs. juiced.

Years ago there was some fishy stuff regarding 3 B samples from fights (around 2010-2012), then there was the IV the day before Pacquaio fight. Illegal IV and Floyd said because he was dehydrated despite 3 weeks before the bout claiming he walks around at 150 and can make weight no problem. Doesn't add up. Then there's the fact he used to fight once a year (cycling on and off the juice) and then when he started fighting twice a year again he started to barely announce the fight 6 weeks out (unheard of for mega PPV fights).

Lot of dots connecting there. Connor, I know less since I don't really follow UFC but I thought it was a bit suspicious that on very short notice he moved up what 20 pounds and didn't have an oz of fat or flab on his body and he seemed to lose his shit over being accused almost too defensive.

I'm about 98% sure Floyd's juicing and has been for at least the last 7-8 years. Connor I'm less sure but my hunch says I'm about 70% sure of him too.

Yeah I suspect you're right. The IV was used to mask/or flush his system.

Sigh, so the "contest" we all knew was happening is actually happening. Great...

... Can't believe I'm dumb enough to pay for this, but there you go

The only way this can be fair is if it's neither MMA or boxing.

I vote Ladder Match.

Don't get all the excitement for this. Mayweather will win easily, Mcgregor won't come near him.

The only way this could be interesting is in the MMA ring. But Mayweather will never agree to that since he'd be taken down to the ground and KO'd in the first minute.

Only way Connor would have a chance is if half the fight Is MMA and the other half boxing. Floyd is too much of a bitch to ever let that happen though.

Bit bizarre to call a professional fighter a "bitch"

Mayweather doesn't want or need the fight as much as McGregor. He's the A-Side, the bigger draw, got more money and is the far bigger name. HE picks the terms. McGregor asked for the fight and it's always going to be boxing. Don't think it makes him a bitch. Anyone who has the bollocks to get in a ring or a cage is far from a bitch.

You're reading too much into the bitch comment, was more tongue in cheek. Tbh i don't really like Mayweather's fighting style or him personally.

Of course you make some good points regarding the business context and i understand that. But in pure fight fairness, it should be half/half with both having a shot at fighting in the style they specialise in, but this fight is more about the money then making things an even matchup. Won't ever happen though.

Connor is an idiot, there's no way he will win in a boxing matchup, monetary reasons it makes perfect sense for him.

Should be a good fight. Don't understand the people saying it's pointless and shouldn't happen. Obviously in a boxing bout Mayweather will be the heavy favourite but unless you choose to pay for it (and why would you if you have this sentiment?), then you're not losing anything by the fight coming to fruition. At worst you'll just have predicted right, and Mayweather will win comfortably. Either way one of the two will be shutting up a bit, and it should be a good spectacle nonetheless so I'm looking forward to it! Conor might just pull it out of the bag, who knows?!

Cynical pointless money making exercise.

So no different from boxing and MMA then.

I don't see anything but a Mayweather win, but if, just if, Conor catches him and KOs him it would have to be the biggest boxing upset ever (this may be a slight exaggeration). Some serious motivation for Conor there. Well that and the cash.

Exactly my feelings on the whole thing, I'll moan this is happening and eventually hand over my money.

It's the reality for most people. To be honest Im happy to pay money for it right now just for the build up. It's absolute guaranteed entertainment and I wouldn't be surprised to see them go on to break the all time box office record.

Floyd rumoured to have booked the MGM Grand for August 26th and has cancelled his promotional tour "until further notice".
