Saw someone claiming how important the coronation is as ‘we need to show we’re still the best at pageantry’

1. How typical, being the best as polishing a metaphorical turd. Throwing out all the flags we can find, cleaning up everything and pretending everything is fine.

2. I’d rather us be known as being the best at feeding starving people, housing the homeless & healing the sick.

Just out walking the dog, just passed the local library & on THE SAME WINDOW they have Union Jack hearts and a picture of Charles next to a piece of A4 advertising the library as a Warm Bank…

I fecking despair at this country!

Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est.
How will they enact it, in what arena? I wouldn’t be able to bring myself to say that at gunpoint!

Edit: Just googled it over a coffee. Dear me, I can’t see there being much uptake.
Loads of people will do it, I bet. Charles has ruled out the homage of the hereditary peers, where they all line up and pledge allegiance, but he should have kept that in. At least they all got something from the monarchy - a stately home, loads of land in prime parts of the country and a title. They have a very good personal reason for being loyal.

It would be interesting to see how many will or would do it. Not sure myself, outside of the Daily Mail crew. Personally makes me want to be sick in my mouth.

Saying that Penna, I could probably be persuaded with a stately home and some land :)

This is horrible even in portugal, with news channels acting like anyone gives a feck about this. If I was in england I'd have to go and live in the woods for a week.

My parents are going to a caravan park in Rhyl for the weekend in a group of 30 to "celebrate". Absolute weapons. I'm staying home and getting wankered.

@Sassy Colin

Will you be giving your Homage - saying the Oath?

Possibly you've even been invited for all I know.

Don't be silly
Perfectly reasonable question to ask and why should I assume you hadn't been invited, it's always possible?

Personally I'd like to be able to make some sort of protest but the Italians in the village wouldn't know what to make of it really.

On what basis would I be invited? You must know something I don't.
How would I know? I mean you are our token Tory ponce on the forum but it would be wrong of me to make an assumption that you hadn't been invited for your services to Accounting, Gladioli or some such.

Just because I can't abide socialism and Labour, doesn't make me a Tory, ffs.

In any case, the majority of, so called, socialists on this Forum could buy and sell me.

btw, you can't rescind that like, can you? :nervous:

Why would I want to rescind that Like? It doesn't mean anything enduring you know?

I just wanted to see if I could still send you up, takes two or three posts nowadays but I can still do it

You're a nasty man :nono:

Anyway, I'd like everyone who doesn't want to 'give their oath' to that prat to stand outside their front door at the appointed time and all shout

KISS MY ARSE!

I don’t really get what folks issues are really

we all have 2 options, swear allegiance or don’t, no one’s being forced, merely asked, it’s not binding in anyway

stranger much more annoying things happen in life, such as energy companies forcing us to pay more on our energy bills, supermarkets forcing us too pay way more on their products, millions forced too pay through the eyes for their new mortgage rates, rental rates going through the roof etc etc

Being asked (not forced) too join in with the coronation and say out loud certain words is nay bother too me, because I have options

When the Government says that this Coronation will cost us (the tax payer) £100m you can almost bet that it will be nearly double. It's not Our Coronation, it's his, let him pay for it, he's got at least £1.5bn in the Bank Accounts we know about, he's got a car collection worth a minimum of £8m, Jewellery upwards of £80m and on and on. His Mother died and her belongings became his belongings in entirety, he has not and will not pay a penny in Death taxes unlike the rest of us when we go or inherit from our relatives.

While his Mother lived he was given £20m a year, just for being Number 1 Prince. Philanderer Prince Number 2 got £200k and couldn't 'live' on that. And it goes on and on. We Pay, through the nose for a very expensive Tourist Attraction that keeps taking. He's not my King just for being born.

It's alright, I'm from the country.

I read somewhere that £100m is just for security. Actual total cost closer to £250m.

To give some context that is 2.5 Pogbas.
