believer that Sancho will turn it around
He's been poor in this half, but St. Etienne is exploiting the space left in front of our CBs by Herrera not sitting in the space and cutting it out in the first place so he's been stepping up and creating problems for us.

His passing though has been awful tonight. He needs to just give the ball to Pogba and chill.

It's not really his fault. You play with 3 midfielders - none who are particularly defensive vs pace of St Etienne then the defense is pulled forward. Same is happening to Valencia.

Mkhitareayn at AM does weirdly more defensive work than Fellaini does. Not even hating.

Some of his passes have been absolutely poor and put us in compromising positions though, this is one of the reasons why I personally just prefer defenders to be a great defender first, and play out from the back as a bonus, but not necessary.

He's not dealing with their movement well. He's fine when he sees what coming but when some sneaky little fecker is darting by you all of a sudden and the ball has already been played he's struggling.

Looks quite lethargic and slow tonight. I wonder if it's too many games for him - probably his busiest season ever?

Something isn't right. Doesn't look light on his feet today and very clumsy in every facet of his game which is most unlike him. At first I thought it was nerves but physically looks a bit off.

Lost the player 13 times in the first half

He did some good tackle, but that can't hide the rest
Problem is Herrera being way too aggressive in MF duo, he attacks the ball high up the pitch which leaves Bailly open most of the time.

His worst performance in a United shirt. I hope that this was just a one-off and he'll be back to his imperious self from the next game. He needs to forget about this game as soon as possible.

Just an off day, although he did look far better when Tree came off.

He made more mistakes tonight than the total of the last several months since he arrived. Still showed some quality though, lets hope it was a single off-night for him.

For some reason he got extremely nervous in first minutes. Apart from that it wasn't that all tragic.

Yeah. Maybe a bit ill or something like that. Let's hope it was just a one off.

His poorest game for us, erratic at times and sloppy on the ball, but did make some athletic blocks.

All over the place, fortunate not to be punished, maybe needs a rest at the weekend.

Horrendous today. Probably the worst CB performance we've had in a while. Luckily he timed it well, against impotent opposition.

An oddly poor game but at his age it is a surprise we haven't seen a few more of them sprinkled around. He didn't seem in tune with the game for large parts of it but still made a few good tackles/blocks when it mattered.

Should dampen down some of the hyperbole being spouted in here of late. No harm reminding us he's actually human. Shocking at times tonight. He'll get over it.

He was left exposed too much in the first half. Also he'd a few brain farts.

Was decent enough, not world beating as he usually is though.

Tbf to Bailly, he made some howlers in possession but I thought defensively he was still solid.

Worst performance in United shirt. There is no excuse of his brainfart in possession. On his defensive duty though, the tactic didn't help. First of all, our full backs probably were instructed/ allowed to push forward all the time and leave the defensive unit very light. Not just Valencia but also Blind. Normally, our full backs get involve in the build up. This game they just try to get into attacking position and leave our CBs & 2 central midfielders in the build up. At times there were just too much space for Smalling & Bailly to cover. The matter got worse with the midfield component. Pogba might have a very good game with his passing, but he left a lot of space in defensive phase. The 2 men midfield was somehow ended up as with sole defensive midfielder with Herrera in the first half. Herrera is not natural to defensive midfielder role on his own. Fellaini was simply lazy this game. Lost his physical presence edge when we need to ultilize him as an attacking option as well as disappear when we need him in the midfield for defensive purpose.

Things got better in second half, but damage already done psychotically for some players. Bailly was a suspect.

So far away I get up 4am to just watch Utd on TV
Looked a little out of sorts today didn't he? Still did a lot of things well but looked uncomfortable for some reason?

Honestly don't know which games people watch. E.B has been pretty good despite having no help from Smalling. E.B has already made 3 goal saving tackles.
I thought Smalling was great again today. Really well-positioned, commanding in the air as always. Most of Bailly errors were of his own making today imo.

He wasn't that bad for feck sake! Hate this forum sometimes. Honesty if it wasn't for his blocks/interceptions we would be in deep shit.
Exactly; he did some things really well as usual but you have to admit there were some uncharacteristic mistakes form him today. Just an off day?

He's receiving no protection from the midfield which is causing him to have at times 2-3 players running at him and past him.
True; the insertion of Fellaini disrupted the whole midfield organisation, or lack thereof. In hindsight, Carrick might have been a better replacement for Mkhi to start the game leaving Pogs & Herrara to play as a two in front?

Looks slow and indecisive tonight, i would get him off!
Overreaction methinks Dogg - still made some great plays and no need to risk Rojo who is probably only just fit

Got a clean sheet whilst sleepwalking
 Hopefully he "sleepwalking" is a one-off

Problem is Herrera being way too aggressive in MF duo, he attacks the ball high up the pitch which leaves Bailly open most of the time.
Maybe. Herrera's game IS aggressive though. Fellaini is no Mkhi and there were much bigger gaps than we're used to seeing. Not our best threesome in midfield today. Strangely enough, we were better when Lingard came on & replaced Felly.
