He really is something special. Making a late push for player of the season.

Only one who impressed me tonight, so glad he's found his early season form again.

Bailly is incredible and given his age he still has time for improvement. Mourinho is going to make him a fantastic CB. He's always so solid, consistent. It's going to be fun to watch him play these coming seasons.

Is it too early to call him best CB in the league?

His performance was amazing and bar 2-3 games, he had excellent season.

He's like Rio and Vidic's lovely gay sex love child. I think he's had the best season for a central defender for us I've seen.

I don't know how that guy at Bilbao and that guy at Atletico are doing this season, but feck that - I am calling it, Bailly is the best CB talent in the world.

He doesn't play enough game nor it's only 2-3 games of underwhelming performance. He can't be the best in PL with that kind of heading ability  Too soon IMO. Potential wise, yes he has it to be in a tier above the current crop of best CB in the league which Rojo on his CB performance this season is part of.

I would throw in Evra too.

Impressive performance. More so if you consider how much he played lately and that with so many injuries he became a leader of our defense in his first season here. Massive pressure but he looks like he thrives with it.

Chelsea fans think Azpi is best CB and he can't even head the ball ;)

I think he was average for very less number of games, around 2-3. Yeah it's too soon to call him best CB, I was carried away after final whistle watching his performance.

It is.

When he went through his struggles earlier this season this place had started turning .

Needs to produce this for an extended period.
Yeah, like I said I was bit carried away with his performance.

The tackle in the box early on was fantastic, everyone backing away scared to give away a penalty and Bailly just flies in with a "telescopic leg" as the commentator said to get the ball.

There was a moment where Aguero did a Cruyff turn and rifled a shot into the stands, Blind and Bailly had been done and wrong footed. Bailly was scrambling across on his knees to try get a head in the way though, I think it's the small details like that which shows he isn't going to give up even when he's been turned inside out.

Am I misremembering by thinking his bad run of form (which was still better than most of our defenders) came immediately after he returned from ACON? He's the one player I'm excited to see get the Mourinho treatment over the next couple of years, especially if we can nail down the first choice players in front of him over the summer.

How gutted must city fans be that he was practically theirs and then Mourinho convinced him to come to United.

Love it...

I hate the way people just decide that our players are tired just so they can lower their hopes for the end of the season.
Bailly is a beast, looks like he could play 7 games a week yet if people keep saying he's tired then maybe we can pretend its true

Another world class performance!

He hardly put a foot wrong. Even without any solid protection of the back four, he was imperious. His tackles are interceptions were superb.

Bailly is our best defender by a country mile.

Imagine if Jose finds another player like him in the summer to play with him...

Rapidly becoming one of my favourite united players

If you ask me to describe the perfect center back it would be a hybrid of Rio and Vida. He's as close as it gets, stylistically. If he keeps progressing and reaches their level I'd just offer him a lifetime contract and a blank cheque.

Both brilliant defenders. But you can't have the perfect one without a touch of Maldini. I couldn't believe how good he was. He didn't even need pace because he was always smarter than the opponent

Maldini as good as he was, was a superb athlete and it made him the complete defender. Very balanced, quick and strong. Had it all.

Said it before but he can be the best defender in the world if he wants to.

Great performance today. Haven't seen our defender put that kinda of last ditch tackles since Vidic left.

That said, people saying he is the best defender in the league kinda need to chill a little. We are very quick in label our players then we do complete 180 when they fail to live up to our inflated expectations.

He just turned 23 this month and still has a long way to go. He is susceptible to unnecessarily fouls and mistakes. He is also underwhelming in aerial duels. Luckily Aguero wasn't going to test him on the later today but a bigger center forward may be able to exploit it.

Patience is virtue. We know he has the talent to be world class but he still has a way to go.

Some talent we have on our hands here. He may well become the next great defender of the PL era over the next decade.
