Over the course of the game they had plenty of opportunities or good openings. I can't come away from that game and think we played very well and were unlucky. We had the better chances but it was a chaotic match.
I’ll be honest, I cant of many. A lot of shots from outside the box but that’s it.
Thats mind boggling, I can only imagine what I’d be feeling if I had a bet on that game.
Our XG must be insane in that game

Onana is a bozo - but you people are insane if you watch United playing like a basketball team and have the gall to come on here and write "we played well"

We are fragile as feck, no midfield - lucky this was against Gala - a serious team would have given us a pasting, like it has happened plenty of times under his watch.
Yup. The only real take away from this game (aside from Onana somehow being worse that we thought) is that we're going to get annihilated a good few times this season... again.

He is not trying to keep the ball. People have to change what they are expecting to see. A lot of the issues are down to the players and their failings but plenty are system born.
Then he's taking the piss then because you can't play like that and win games if you're not going to try and keep the ball for 5 minutes when you're 3-1 up.

We didn't control the midfield yet again and that coupled with Onana made us lose.
That's the main issue, it's the lack of game control and has been an issue since ETH joined us. Never dominated a full game, only parts of games and we're too soft and open at times. It gets you nowhere.

His game management is shocking, signings have been shocking and there's no resemblence of a playstyle whatsoever.

Hopefully Ratcliffe comes in and sends him packing.

100% Our midfield is shambles, discipline is poor and there is no sign of any tactics. Not only is he a crap manager but he is also terrible at judging players and transfer targets.

One day away to a big team I'd love to see him park the bus like Fergie used to. Play 5 midfielders and drop the wingers.

Would say much more about Onana + finishing. So many instances of getting the ball around their box and not making a simple pass. I get it's much easier for us to see from up high but we could have absolutely smashed them if there was a bit more composure.

We are an Onana bottle job away form having a good season so far. It’s infuriating. It’s not as if he shits himself in the biggest stage, he was one of the best playmakers on the pitch in a fecking CL final only a few months ago.
I’m scratching my head how we didn’t win that, Onana could have gifted 2 more goals on top and we still should have won comfortably
We got nothing from this game and exhausted instead. Next game, I hope we are not trashed, but the hope maybe is too slim.

Better but not by a huge distance.

If you replace your brick walls with wood and your house collapses, is that your fault or the wood?
I didn't realise we had wood playing for us in goal, thought we had a full grown human. Maybe wood would have had a better game than Onana though.

He got Antony playing fantasticaly tonight but then Onana had some unbelievable howlers. Even when the first and 3rd were bcs of chances the midfied shouldv fixed and they didnt. I also wouldnt have taken off Amrabat for Mainoo, who caused that 3rd goal. But, al in all, I would never have given United a penny and they played at times excellent football. They just arent the finished product. onana was terrific the last few weeks but tonight oh my god.

Just bizarre! Surely at 1-3 up you take off an attacker, drop Mainoo alongside Amarabat and stop the casino that was end to end football. I have serious doubts about his tactical acumen- wide open against a very dangerous counter- attacking side is suicidal! We got what we deserved!

Ten Hag is clearly an admirer of Ian Holloway's 2010/11 Premier League team. He even looks like him a bit.

Weren't enough shots I'd imagine. Good positions but lots of bad passes or interceptions.

Looking at that group table it's fecking embarrassing. All that after spending hundreds of millions for the bald twat. Yet some think all is fine. Mind boggles.

Not suggesting it is ten Hag's fault but to score three goals in CL away games against Bayern, Copenhagen and Galatasary and not win any of them is scandalous.
Yeah, was thinking for the same. Has anyone ever gone out of the CL having scored more goals than us?

I'd stick with ET but he makes loads of weird choices. Bringing off Garnacho... jesus wept.

This. Wasn’t Varane available too? Another CB might’ve been wise.

It's not like he has a lot of options at the moment, but I do feel like McTominay should've been playing deeper. Amrabat is too weak and we were exposed in central areas again. It's clearly not how he wants us to play though.

Given his track record on signings and our performances I think INEOS will dispense with him before long. They’ll probably fall out when he suggests another £100m on a couple of ex players/a curiosity like someone who once scored a freekick against his side.

he’s honestly not done a lot here, and be honest and ask yourself if we won the league cup because we were amazing or because our fixtures were Villa pre Emery, burnley, charlton, forest and last years Newcastle.

Something that shouldn’t go amiss. This is a bang average side. They work hard but feck me they give up truck loads of chances and leave so many gaps. Their centre halves are absolute shite.
I don’t even think this actual line up play together that much because of the foreign player rules in their domestic league.

So people are saying that conceding 14 goals in 5 games (most ever in CL history) has nothing to do with ETH?

You can say this is due to mistakes, but he is choosing those players. This is not the first game where Onana has made stupid mistakes, why not just remove him for such matches?

I just hope this result isn't a start of a terrible run of results as we've got really difficult schedule in December.

Newcastle, Chelsea, Bournemouth, Bayern and Liverpool coming next. If we lose 3 of those and lose to Liverpool badly, is Ten Hag sacked?

He has to settle for a more solid approach away from home. They were all over us for the majority of the first half and a good period of the second, this pressing structure leaves the midfield incredibly wide open. Any good team will obliterate us like Liverpool last season.

His signings apart from Martinez have been atrocious (jury still out on Rasmus), man management skills? ask Varane/Sancho, in game management dire, and recent results have flattered to deceive, whatever credit he had from last season is diminishing.

Thanks for the constructive comment. The manager sets the standards. WTF is he laughing after our shocking campaign.
I bet you were fuming when Ole smiled when we drew 1-1 against Everton. It might really be a constructive argument for you.

Well we didn't for sure but he was no where near this busy at Inter, but Ten Hag has worked with him for years and knows him, so surely he knows what this guy does when his goal is peppered
I've watched him at Ajax. While he does have the occasional blunder in him, I think this is the worst he's ever been. This is worse than League One goalkeeping.

The team looked rattled when Gala scored their first up until half time. You would hope that once we got the two goal cushion again he wouldn't invite the same pressure. But, nope, keep the midfield wide open and keep trying to play whatever style of football we're supposed to be playing. It's getting annoying.

Next game ETH is going to be found out for the fraud he is, losing a 2 nil lead when you have Raphael Varane on the bench, he should have played 352 at 1-3 he’s far too stubborn, far too inflexible and he’s been at united for far too long. Dire Football, terrible signings and neutral or negative goal difference.

Literally had enough of this clown. His arrogance is unbelievable, whats he actually done in the game?

A few Dutch leagues and a Carabao cup. He just needs to be sacked and the club move on. This is not knee jerk ETH will never win the PL or CL even if he takes over Real Madrid or Barcelona!

I can see Ratcliffe moving him on sooner rather than later. Yes it was an exciting end to end match, but thats because of 2 mediocre teams. If we had have played Bayern tonight we would have got battered with the open space we had in the team.
TH doesnt seem to be able to change anything.

Needs to realise we can't accommodate two 10s sharpish or we'll be on the end of an absolute spanking. Credit to McTominay for recent performances but, overall, he doesn't contribute enough in general play. He's invisible in two thirds of the pitch.
