It's so weird that United fans on a United forum are like 'no more excuses' and 'well let's see how he gets on now he's had his wishes'.

Let's get behind him, and we if do fall short, how about not using it as a stick to beat ETH with for not sharing the same hard-on you have for Ronaldo?

Poor Ten Hag coming into this circus, it’s been one thing after another since he came in, hopefully he’s thick skinned and doesn’t let it bother him.

Then why are the Glazers and FSG selling up?
Yup it's one thing to go from $X00 -> $2-3B and something else entirely to grow a $4-5Bn club at an acceptable rate (10+%?).

Yet many people seem to be interested in getting exposure to the industry. Red Bull group, the folks buying up the Barca TV rights, Boehly and co etc.

I think FSG are smart. I really doubt Glazers are selling because they think the club has peaked in value.

Just curious why promoting gambling a sell-out?

Imo gambling is quite fine if you're not addicted to. Might earn some bucks too.
I totally agree. Online gambling sites are one of the huge revenue channels for football teams. Cut these and many teams would lose tons of money for getting better players.

Now with probably the last dickhead primadonna out I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season. We'll play some nice football I reckon. Hope the board will buy him a new striker in Jan.
I think it's vital we get a number 9 if we've any chance of top 4. Martial's done ok so far but he just can't be relied upon to stay fit and we have no back ups at all.

Problem with that is no decent ones are available in January or did you mean short term one

Well preferably not but if it has to be someone short-term than that's what it has to be, even though we've been burned with that before. I just don't see how we can afford go through the rest of the season with Martial as the number 9.

Totally agree but at the same time we wouldn't get any of Toney/Osimhen/Kane now

HUGE concern for me. I feel like we’ve finally got someone who’s got the vision and knowledge to get us there but that a new owner might cast him aside to attract a different name
Every prospective buyer simply has to GUARANTEE Erik stays in place,we don't want a Boehly with Tuchel situation

That's why American owners should be a big concern. They hardly understand football, infrastructure investment is not their tradition as they don't understand the difference between owning a team vs owning a club lock stock and barrel, there is no pride and urgency to improve the performance as they are not used to relegation structure. A club is nothing but a corporate entity for them. You can point all the fingers to middle eastern billionaires but they understand what European football is, perhaps because most of them are educated in europe.

Because both clubs need a lot of investment to compete with the very best. United needs a new stadium, half a new team, and upgraded facilities. What's that, 1 billion plus?

I think most probably ETH will not get a proper striker in Jan window. At most maybe a striker on loan. Arnold or Murtough mentioned last summer that we have spent part of next season budget and we are expected to spend much less the next few windows.

And now the owners are looking to sell the club and I bet they are not willing to splash. I think the war chest will be locked.

Yeah loan or free agent looking most likely

Was it not widely reported we wouldn’t get anyone January unless someone left?

Obviously a certain someone has left.

We will get someone in.

Yeah see a forward coming in but not an established number 9 as they aren't gonna be available until the summer

Feel for Erik, when will financial constraints cease to hinder and he can demand absolute quality like baldy on the other side?

He is mentally as tough as it gets I think. Also I'm of the mind that getting the ideal manager is the biggest single decision for a club and the hardest to get right. Now that they have EtH in place we will see his mentality and style of football filter down to the very bottom of the organization, from the lowest levels of ball and I expect we'll see an uptick in quality of the kids growing into the first team. Upgrade his bankroll on top of that and we'll see what he can do with top quality players.

I think he came to the PL to have the elite payroll. When he took the job I am sure he also knew the sale was forthcoming as well. So none of this is a surprise to him, just like Ronaldo was a guy he knew he would need to weed out of the program. I don't think any of this has surprised him.

He will have seen the Glazers and Ronaldo as two parts of the same negative so he'll probably be very happy with developments.

Lets be honest, if Glazers want to sell i'll be surprised if they invest any more money into transfers at this point. We have to hope that we get new owners in before January if we want any investment in January.

When he's not just spending 200m on recent window.
Honestly 18 clubs out of the league would pray for the investment constraints that the Glazers have supposedly imposed. Our problem isn't financial. Its strategic management.
The way money spent over the last 10 years has just been appalling. Hundreds of millions were spent just on the galacticos projects alone. That strategic blunder really points only at one man, Woodward.

Agreed, also if he was able to win over United fans surely he can win over a potential new owner. We're the hardest bunch to please.
It wasn’t long ago that there were debates on here that our fanbase are the easiest to please with little demands for standards and results.

100% agreed, man. There was (or "is" probably) no strategic football thinking on the management side. And when we hire the wrong manager, we're doomed.

Every time we have new manager, it seems like we need to overhaul the whole squad and spend another hundreds of millions on new players just for him to "get the players he wants".

A plastic one i guess… Di Maria, Ronaldo, Pogba, Falcao etc. Big names but are past it
That’s not a galatico project. Just good players. They weren’t even brought around the same time? Is United not meant to go for good players? Weird

That Tuchel situation was an odd one. Managers who are progressive and managed big clubs and won CL getting sacked so easily.
